  • hahahaha its actually kinda funny!

  • This version has pretty much the same meaning as the English, give or take a few phrases. It's really nice. Thank you for uploading it!

  • I think about Wicked anime version.. but, it's nice too... :D

  • I want this recording! Where did you get it?!

  • Didn't Megumi Hamada also play Aida in the original Japanese cast of "AIDA"?

  • ERUFIE!!

  • Japanese and polish versions are my favourite! Oh, and english, of course. :)

  • OMIGAWD ANIME WICKED<3

  • Anime version. LOL.

    Happy Wicked Day!

  • ELPHIE!!!

  • haha it sounds so funny when i compare it to the english version

  • no vabbé. vi prego.

  • Megumi is great I know but she can't hit notes as high and clear as Idina could. This version of Defying Gravity is great though :D

  • 万歳!!!!

  • Oh wow, this sounds AWESOME!

  • Well, after listening to THAT, I shall now proceed to my tablet and draw an anime version of Wicked. Good day to you all.

  • Gurinda~~! ^^

  • Agreed with @timothyalmonte

I'm so excited for the Dutch cast! :D The video I seen of the 'snippet' was amazing :D

  • It's like I'm listening to an anime version of Wicked. So effing awesome. xD

  • Grinda... haha!!!

  • Japanese singers are just always great.

  • すごい! <3

  • REALLY GREAT!!

  • これはすごいです!彼女は素晴らしい声をしています!

  • I want it !!!!!!!!!!

    Luv it !!!!!!!!!!!

  • that. is. AHMAZING!!!!.

    kthanxbye.

  • I'm wondering if you still have the CD, if so I'd like it.

  • Elphaba's last lyric is universal. This is awesome.

  • F'n A! this was amazing! tyhis song is AAALWAYS! amazing! glad they did it justice!

  • Where can I find a CD or download of this cast?

  • @McGarvinStudios You can get it off iTunes Japan if you can be bothered getting a Japanese account (which requires buying a Japanese gift voucher online etc., Google it.)

  • @mistysakura you could do that..... or you could just go to:

    video2mp3 (dot) net

  • its amazing how well this song translates

  • the also sing great :)

  • This is my favorite cast recording of this musical. Ever. Megumi Hamada gives the raw power to this song that Idina Menzel is lacking. It's gorgeous in every way.

  • ERUFII!

  • @Ashestoashesjc GURINDA!

  • my cousin is stationed over in tokyo right and she went to go see it

  • whoa, OwO

    kawaiijapaneseanimesuperawesomedesuka! 8D

  • @finlant woooow Weeaboo detection

  • @jubilee03 what o_o : D

  • @finlant

i cant tell if your attemped at being bilingual was cute or pathetic... thumbs up none the less <3 lol

  • It's slightly more Opera-y I think, with Elphaba's deeper voice. That's not a bad thing! Just different!

    Gu-ri-nn-da , hehehe! And 'El-fu-ii'.

  • i absolutely love this, but Ephie's voice is a little to deep, but it's still great!!!!

  • 05:25 SCREAM! wow I just fell down the chair, it was too loud xD

  • 03:12 -> G-L-I-N-D-A haha it sounds awesome :D

  • Idina sounds different here. ;)

  • @GlenRotterdam It's not Idina here. This is Tokyo cast recording.

  • Made me laugh how most of the comments are in english!

  • Dont get me wrong i LOVE this version!!! But something about the way the singers sing that doesnt sound right.

  • i loved the person who played Elphie... she has a good voice!!!

no offense, the one who played Galinda (or Glinda i forgot her name) she needed sound a little more sweeter and sincere. it's a powerful song towards the end but in the beginning, it's sincere and sweet.^^

i love the japanese verison =)

and i saw the original Broadway cast with Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel..

that was THE best musical I have EVER seen in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This version gave me chills! o_o

  • I'm Japanese but I'm more used to the English version lol Kristen Chenoweth rocks!!

  • i've seen wicked its RLLY RLLY GOOD but the tickets cost 100 each i seen it in NY

  • @16mewmewberry Wow!!!

  • @meowool totally lol

  • @16mewmewberry 100 each in NY??? In Uk, well london, they're about 35 -60

  • @xKaraAnnJx Well in Germany on a weekday evening they are from 48 to 94 and on weekends from 57 to 117 euros. It's ridiculously expensive. Otherwise when you're under 26 you can get tickets for 29,90 ;D

  • I just don't like the vibrato this singer uses. Sometimes it seems too strong.

  • My Japanese isn't perfect, but near the beginning, Elphaba sings something about "who decided the limits? I'm gonna show them the darkness of night," or something like that. I feel that's VERY powerful and beautiful.

  • @waterkeeper511 I'm an idiot and I translated it wrong, haha, so don't quote me on that....lol.

  • O.o can i have the whole cd.... i saw this when i was in japan but i couldn't find a cd of it...

  • OMG. Awesome. It initally scared the crap out of me.... awesome nonetheless.. thanks for the upload.

  • Whoa, awesome

  • horrible... They're voices are too deep for the part. The only good part was the choire(sp?) at the end.

  • @GreetingWithGoodbye I think the decision to give the girls deeper voices is more appropriate for their characters, especially Elphaba.

  • @waterkeeper511 how do you figure?

  • What part is "Garinda! Eruffi!" at? Hehe. Amazing. Love the riff at the end and how they say eachothers names. And galindas " i hope your happy" part at the end sounds cute haha! (:

  • This song gives me a boner.

  • It sure is. I'd love to hear this song in every language in the world.

  • Thats is soo Awsome In Japanesse

  • gunna see this (in English T__T) on friday, can't wait <3

  • Amazing!...I love Idina Menzel but this is like a whole different world! I think the fact that I grew up (and still) watching anime makes this version very special...GREAT!!

  • Hehe, is it just me, or is elphie a soprano in this version? Eh, I still luv it!!! :D

  • @simzproductionz the key hasn't raised.... I think its still a mezzo-soprano who's using a brighter tone, might seem higher or more soprano-ish but still mezzo.

  • ↓ in english?

  • @CTU1640 I already memorized the english ones XD, i'm looking for the Japanese ones now.

  • does anyone know where I can find the lyrics for this?

  • No matter what language it's in, this song still makes me cry.

  • I just kept thinking 'man, her voice is really nasal.' through the entire thing. =/

  • @eviljinxypoo Well, in the Japanese language you have to place the sound of certain vowels into the nasal cavity to pronounce it properly. To us it may sound nasal, but to the Japanese or anyone who speaks the language worth a damn it's sounds clear, articulate and wonderful.

  • Wow, this is pretty. I would absolutely love to take up your offer of trading soundtracks! I only have the Original though...

  • interesting....

  • Ahh I really liked that! Elphie's voice was a little deeper than her American counterpart, but I thought it was really kind of beautiful!

  • Beautiful!!!! Love the Elphaba!!!

  • elphaba sounds a little bit like SheShe from the Black Beauty Sisters xDD (Mermaid Melody)

  • the elphaba sounds a little like shakira :D <3

  • sounds awful

  • wow, I like it, sounds wonderful

  • Hey id Love a trade with this sound tarcks its awsome

  • This song is great in ANY language!!

  • @timothyalmonte omg, yes!!!

  • @timothyalmonte Totally agree! ;)

  • Garinda! Eruffi!

  • This song is still awesome in any language it's in lol

  • Where'd you get this CD I only found two of the songs in Japanese on iTunes.

  • Just saw the musical today in Osaka. This song was overwhelming. My Japanese is only so-so, but the performance was amazing. The lighting, effects, and vocal performances were amazing... The actress doing Glinda was the same today, as was Elphaba. I will say that the vocal quality live seemed better, but being in the moment probably colored my experience. This is also 2 days before the end of the run, so they've had time to perfect everything. 8000 yen well spent.

  • I got goosebumps when I listened to this. Simply amazing, I love it!

  • hmmm very different, but just a little weird to listen to something not original

  • It's great whatever language it's in.

  • Does someone know a (working!) torrent to this album? Thnx!

  • This Elphaba is better than Idina

  • Gurinda! Eruffi! HAHA

  • love at the end, after the first "me, down" when glinda says "i hope youre happy" it sounds like a cartoon "blah blah blah blahhh." Hahahaha

  • It sounds so cool.O_O

  • great.

Can you please send me the lyrics?

  • wow O_O

  • oops, forgot to read the comment on the right ...

  • I don't know if she's better. This girl is definitely different and great! Great talent in Japan, you know?!

  • what is the japanese name for this song?

  • Jiyuu wo Motomete 自由を求めて

  • Which literally means "Longing for Freedom" or "Searching for Freedom"

  • 0:15 a pretty unactractive sound..

  • amazing! i saw this on broadway, and this is so much better!!!!

  • WOW amazing!! I think the Japanese and Germans sound better then Americans.

  • I agree!

  • German on the real!! Willemijn ftw

  • Yeah Willemijn has a powerful voice!!

  • i agree with the german cast SHE IS AMAZING... i think this woman is atrocious.
