@angegeben Thanks, I wish I had made a tutorial but its a little late now. There are a ton of individual mods that I made...LED swap on fan controller,LED added to Fans,LED swap on Power and HD access LEDs,Red logo for PS,Painting Inside of Case,Painting Fans,Sleeving,Replacing wheels on Case, Wall of fans,Rocker switches for CCFL's, Window Mod, taught myself how to solder, paint, wire LEDs,sleeve, etc. Maybe on my next build. I also have a WC I7 930 OC to 4.2 and 3 monitor eyefinity set up.
@lewisner I totally love the window mod....so if I were to suffer some performance loss I probably would keep it. But your concern was mine too....which is why I added 4 120mm fans just back of the front bays to increase air flow. I also have the original side panel with a CM 230mm translucent fan painted with translucent candy apple red paint and two 12" red cathodes and converter box attached sitting in my closet anytime I want to chage back. Cables are all sleeved and heat shrunk in red .
@Luisml8 Depends which you are talking about. The 4 Zigmatek fans in the wall of fans are white led's but the blades are translucent orange which I painted translucent candy apple red. The rear 140mm out take fan is red but had no led's. I drilled holes and mounted 4 red leds on that one. The top 230mm fan is black with no led's. I painted the blads red and added 4 red leds to that one. The front bottom 230mm fan is translucent and has 4 red led's. Its the standard CM 230mm fan.
Nice Rig, How did you hold the 4 vertical 120 fans in the case please as Im thinking of doing the same mod to my HAF 932 as yours looks really good I want to give it a go, and what thickness plexi glass did you please. Thanks
@harryhorton Thanks Bro! I used 1/8" thickness on the plexi. The verticle fans are tied together by black cable ties...mounting top to bottom of each fan and in turn mounting a tie through the tie on the fan to a threaded steel rod which are mounted thru the top fan holes next to the bezel header and two holes drilled in the bottom of the case about a half inch forward of the existing fan holes in the bottom of the case.
@2stent Thanks for your reply, I am going to give it a go in a month or so when I get all the pieces I need and will pot the results I hope it looks as good as yours when I'm done ( or something like it any way!!!!) Thanks again for the info.
This is one of the most attractive builds I've seen. It's hard to get as much flare as you gave with this system without liquid cooling it. I'm quite impressed. Bravo.
@lucky7r32 They are fixed 129mm fans. Basically I got two threaded steel rods from Lowes (Home Depot too). Used plastic spaces at bottom painted red to position all four fans. (overclock net/case-mods-general-discussion/wall of fans) has pictures . HAF 932 has 2 fan screw hole towards the front on top that I put the rods thru and drilled 2 holes in bottom just forward of the fan screw holes there to make it perpendicular. Used tie wraps to hold fans to each other & to the rods itself.
ok.....im getting a custom built system....im not overclocking or sli(ing) or turboing or any of that crap, im getting a fx 6100 and an asus 6950 2gb..............i need an answer now......DO I NEED ALL THOSE FUCKING FANS!"
@MegaSlayer47 Well, if I were doing what you say I would just add a 240mm CM fan aft of the HDD cage and in front of the Video card. This would be push/pull with the front 240 mm fan in front on the 932. You would probably have to cut out a small portion of the mobo tray to fit the edge of the fan. You would have to use plastic spacers over the long screws used to mount the fan for proper clearance. I was going to do that but my build was almost complete so I was too lazy to take the case apart.
You should do my wire management because, quite frankly, I suck at it. But then I jam the case with 3hdds, 3vid cards, a coolermaster V10 (thing is massive), and 2 PSU's and wonder why everything is cluttered, and my temps aren't top notch (except for my CPU :D ) lol
@linearlink Thanks Bro! This was my first sleeving mod and everything worked well. I learned a lot and feel I can do better on my next mod. I really liked taking the PCIe on/off bracket switch off the CCL, soldering, sleeving and connecting to the LED toggle switches on the front of the case! :D
i have a tip place ur cathode light not behind the glass but a bit more to the side behind the side panel u will get a glow effect instead a light beam
@korpel Yah, agree that would be better. I just checked the case and my cathode looks a little to long to fit just forward of the "folded corners of the optical bays and it extends down covering the first drive bay. Thats why I didn't put it there to begin with. My cathode is 12 inches. If it was 10" or less it would fit.
@manfadat Thanks Bro! Since this initial build have added dedicated card for PhyX and more red LED's. Am thinking of moding the right panel (back) to include a Grim Reaper(Crimson Reaper was the Build Name on this) made out of metal with red LED's and raised from the panel on spacers and painted black and red.
@meawesome1o1 Basically I got two threaded steel rods from Lowes (Home Depot too). Used tie wraps to hold fans 2 each other & rods.
@BigH3017 Well, not bad...don't think I lost anything by taking out the 230mm fan. I did put 4 120mm fans behind the optical drive bays and behind the HDD drives so that is probably the reason. I'm OCing the CPU to 4.0ghz and the two 470's with no problem. The fans on the 470 do make a roar when Oc'ed but are ok at stock.
@2stent Thanks for the quick reply, I was think about buying the haf black edition side window off the cm website but I didn't want to loose the airflow over my 460's. I think ill only get the window if I go for a full wc loop with cpu, gpu and chipset blocks
Yah, they only match the light on the sound card which is white. LOL I did paint the Xigmatek fan blades transparent red rather than leaving them orange.
@AaronJenkins000 Got window lazer cut from Delvie's Plastic with cad file I gave them.
I used SS # 6/32 hex screws from Home Depot which I sanded and primed and painted red. I drilled and taped the holes in the side panel. Had to thread the plexie for the 6/32 screw threads. Did not use nuts on the screws. Just check the depth of the plastic and side panel to get the depth of the hex screw.
@colinprprpr Yes, that would be the way most do it. However, on the EVGA Classified Mobo the MegaShadow wont mount blowing out the back. Had to mount it blowing out the top, even at that the MegaShadow takes up the first memory slot (closest to the cpu). I also had to "bend" the fan bracket on the left bottom because the fan bracket tended to push the Northbridge heatsink over. After I bent the fan bracket it is totally clear. Also with i7 920 the cores line up better with the cooler N-S vs E-W.
i like ur mod better than the stock panel...in fact i love the whole look of ur case...its awesome...but what about the airflow for ur cards? is it sufficient with the new full window panel?
@surajr1711 Thanks, when I did the window mod CM did not have a stock window panel. I too like this mod better than the stock panel. Came at a price because I had the Acrylic lazer cut. I think around $40. I think it only made a 2 degree difference. If you have 2 470's seperate them in the mobo slots assuming you have enough slots as that makes about a 2 degree diffence than if they are in consecutive slots. Since this vid I added a EVGA 240 for PhysX in between the 470's.
@2stent just 2 degrees? Hmmm...not bad. Also considering the 500 series run relatively cooler than the 400, i guess a full window panel for a HAF X is the way to go. Im putting a system together with the HAF X btw.
Anyways thanks for the info. And check out Guru3d.com's "rig of the month" section. You should sign up :)
@surajr1711 Will do, thanks! Remember I have 4 Xigmatek XLF-F1254 120 Case fans painted Red drawing Air from the front of the case behind the 5.25 bays. My CPU cooler is coolled by
2 Gentle Typhoon Fans painted Red in Push Pull (1850 rpm) north/south orientation which adds to the air flow.
@sistematic1 So? Whats your point? When I did this mod they didn't have a window for the HAF 932 nor was there a HAF X. So I guess you can skip the mod and get the side panel. The lazer cut acrylic I used came to almost $40 with shipping. Everything changes in 12 to 18 months Bro...so you can either wait and do nothing or do a mod during your build. Its everyones choice! :-)
Niice Man ... I have the same Case and I'm begining to make my Casemod, I'm totally new in the Casemod area, and I have a Question !
What is this Fan Support that u put 4 Fan's in vertical, between the Motherboard and the drives bay , and I see a lot in Casemod's.but I dont know the name !
@NychollasLobo Thanks Bro! Basically I got two threaded steel rods from Lowes (Home Depot too). Used plastic spaces at bottom painted red to position all four fans. ( Google "Wall of Fans" and you may find links to some of the forums where I saw somebody's build and copied it. HAF 932 has 2 fan screw hole towards the front that I put the rods thru and drilled 2 holes in bottom just forward of the fan screw holes there to make it perpendicular. Used ties to hold fans 2 each other & rods. SUB ME?
@sistematic1 I think if you read through the comments you can see I gave advice to many who asked same question. Check those out and come back with more specific questions and I'll try to answer them. Subscribe if you like! Thanks
@Famoussasdrummer182 Just checked it out and Subscribed. Very similar mod to mine! Like the 470's and looks like you painted the stainless steel screws blue.....something I did here in red!
yo i agree that is sex....how did you paint the screws and what did you use for the window...pretty clear...and how do u do such well curved corners....
@theeverythindude Thanks! I bought the stainless steel hex 6-32 screws from Home Depot. Used Rust-Oleum Clean Metal Primer (its white) and Rust-Oleum Professional High Performance Enamel (Red). First sanded with like 800 t0 1000 grit washed with soap and water. Tightened screws mostly by hand because you can flake the paint off with too much pressure (wrench). Also drilled the side panel and then "tapped" both the acrylic and the panel. Acrylic was lazer cut...have cad file if you want to use!
@theeverythindude ...continuing....cut side panel using jug saw with bi-metal 24-28 tpi. Cut proud of line and corners. Then used dremel to grind down edges and "crecent' file in corner. I c-clamped a straight edge to use as guide for the dremel and hand file to keep my lines straight. The corners were hand filed. I got the acrylic from Pololu.com.
@Reaver1898 Yes, I used the stock fan 230mm but painted the fan blades red and added red LED's to it. If I were to do it over I would try silver paint as I think you would get brighter color. I also took the CM sticker off and put my own designed sticker in its place. Thanks for comment.
Thanks, this was my first computer mod and second build. Went and bought a lot of tools in making the build. For instance,Soldering iron,Dremel,Rivet Tool, third hand, sunbeam sleeving tools for connectors, sand paper, hole drills, jig saw with right tpi, primer, paint, clear coat, sleeving, heat shrink, wire, led's,etc.
Not bad, this computer is in unfinished basement with fiberglass insulation and dust from cement floor and entry way to garage which generates a lot of dust. Hane dog so pet hairs are present. I put deciflex case filters on bottom of case and on all of the front bazel behind the bottom front grill (CM) logo and above on the optical bay slots. These are magnetic so I left the removable metal grill pieces in. I also put one filter on the right side panel louver. Ben 4 months and now just get dirty
i want to mod my 912, there is soo much space!!! i want too add stuff in it!!! o.o

Used ties to hold fans 2 each other & rods. SUB ME?

@Famoussasdrummer182 Just checked it out and Subscribed. Very similar mod to mine! Like the 470's and looks like you painted the stainless steel screws blue.....something I did here in red!

yo i agree that is sex....how did you paint the screws and what did you use for the window...pretty clear...and how do u do such well curved corners....
sorry i m new at this...lol

Did you use the stock fan that came with the case at the top and added leds? Looks sweet!
Reaver1898 10 months ago
@Reaver1898 Yes, I used the stock fan 230mm but painted the fan blades red and added red LED's to it. If I were to do it over I would try silver paint as I think you would get brighter color. I also took the CM sticker off and put my own designed sticker in its place. Thanks for comment.

@tyrt100 Thanks! Bought some liquid mask to apply around the letters after cleaning with alcohol and trim with hobby knife and paint.
