  • Hey people of the universe! :P

I reviewed this book (I will be writing a review for the movie soon) on my website. Please check it out - it would mean the (other) world to me! Haha, thanks!

    bluesreviews.yolasite.com

  • Neverwhere would make an outstanding movie!!! I'm excited about the possibility....'til Later, Wicked Pumpkin*

  • this movie suck NOT it is awsome best for me since i'm only ten

  • hes the tim burton of books

  • 'She's a Doll,shes a Pal,She's a friend Of Mine!!! It's Coraline!!!'

    Thumbs please!!!!

  • @twitter1971 I Who are you to say all those things about a man who has accomplished so much? You're the only one who seems to be the true arrogant and condescending jerk. And to call someone else's wife, whom you have never had the pleasure to meet in person, a slut.. you are one messed up individual. At least try to have a little decency.

  • God damn it, I would kill for a Coraline sequel made by Neil Gaiman and Henry Selick. Kill...

  • Any word on a Neverwhere movie now?

  • @twitter1971 Well firstly he has already mentioned he's not a Scientologist believer - I don't think anyone can help what kind of fucked up religion they are indoctrinated into as a kid thanks to their fuckwit parents. That aside, Americans DO continue to write crap, for the most part. Or if they didn't write it, they'll find a book and rape it for all it's worth by dumbing it down and throwing millions of dollars on an all-star cast. Also who gives a fuck if he isn't a real Englishman?

  • @yggdrasil89 I'm an American, and even I am with you there. Our media is an absolute joke, and everything in it is nothing but crap. Especially in our Music and TV. Neil Gaiman is and always has been my favorite author. Sometimes I feel I can relate more to people who are from European countries (especially Sweden, the UK, and Italy), and I feel out of place here in the US. Gaiman's books have always helped me to escape from the shallow, uneducated drones that I have to deal with every day.

  • @twitter1971 Gaiman makes peoples' lives more delightful - you make them less so. Stop being so hatey, and go eat some chocolate and look at the stars instead. Life is too short for poisonous douchebaggery.

  • What's it called?

  • I got into Neil Gaiman after seeing the movie 'stardust'. Since then, I own 27 of his titles, and do not intend to stop reading his books. If anyone reads this comment, I am searching for a particular book by him. I do not know the name... but it's about how after you pass, you do not go to heaven... nor that other place (This is not my stance in religion) but, you do to this alternate world that you only stay in so long as somebody on earth remembers you. and it all comes down to one lady.

  • but after that i would find a strange random key in a unusale place that i would never think of finding. plus i never find those normal keys. im so hopeing 2 find the key from the movie. but ever since then i love collecting unusale keys. i listen to the music and bad stuff always goes away. i know a website that u can put button eyes for pics XD but i tryed it on my friends i cant upload there pics only mine o.o.we jk now that the other mother wants me. when stuff like this happens 2 me.

  • ever since i heard of coraline i had to see the movie myself and i fucken love it XD..im going to read the book soon. have it now so im going to read it XD. hate spoilers. but im going to make her cosplay XD. i might even make the doll to. buying the doll gives me a bad vibe so no thanks. coraline reminds me of my childhood. i remenber when i was little. everytime i see those small doors in a random house. i would get bad vibes about it and would think there is something on the other side.

  • OK, so to clarify; along with the miniseries for Neverwhere they are going to come out with a movie? If so that would definately be awesome!! I read the book in High School and always loved the idea of it needing to become a movie! Coraline was awesome, my son loved it as much as I did! :)

  • @malindizoo

    You're boring..

  • : - )

  • did anyone else think Coraline was terrifying? they have buttons for eyes!!!

  • @ILLER121 that was my first reaction...until i looked past it.

  • @ILLER121 My housemate is 24 and she won't watch Coraline again because she says "It's too freaky!" I love Coraline

  • Coraline is amazing. Neverwhere didn't even come close to doing the book justice. >:(

  • @Nichalovesyou Actually the movie was first. The book didn't even come out untill after. He wrote the screenplay and the book, so they are basically the same.

  • @brikifer44 .... that was sarcasism right.... if not your an idiot :P

  • @Inkpennington Um, WOW. I am reading the book right now, and I have seen the movie. The dialoge is IDENTICAL!

  • @brikifer44 Not really, the book gives far more insight to Coraline as a character than the film does, and she doesn't have a supporting little boy character, she defeats The Other Mother on her own and isn't nearly dragged into the hole at the end, and IMHO The Other Mother is a far darker character in the novel than she is in the film.

  • @brikifer44 Plus of course the dialog in the novel is British and in the film American ;) But I love both the novel and the film regardless.

  • @brikifer44 We are talking about the same thing right?

  • @brikifer44 uh... i read the book in grade four. i have graduated. maybe you should do some more research.

  • I actually, literally, cannot wait. Neverwhere's one of my favourite books, and Gaiman's definitely my favourite author.

  • Coraline is a masterpiece.

  • I think Neil Gaiman's books are awesome!!!! I love Neverwhere and Stardust and Coraline. I can't wait to see Neverwhere.

  • hey! I love him :)

  • I have the movie it is really good But I gona Buy the book soon :)

    Is the book good?

  • @madde5555 The book is awesome. I love it more than the film, and I thought the film was good.

  • 3D didn't help 'Coraline' any. It was good enough on its own.

  • @MarvelNut Definitely. In fact, I watched it the first time in 2D because I knew the movie was probably only going to be downgraded by the 3D.

  • the interviewer sounds like he's having multiple orgasms everytime neil says something a bit funny

  • readed the book and saw the bbc drama ,

  • I love the book - never saw the movie ... His writing reminds me of Charles Dickens.

  • i liked the movie better than the book

  • I prefered Gaiman and Dave McKean's original story, not that the film wasn't memorable, but for dark childhood terrors brought to life, Gaiman's novel stands alone.

  • OMG i looooove Gaiman and Neverwhere and Henson and Sandman!!!! yaaaay! I LOVE YOU, NEIL!!!!!! XD

  • I think the interviewer is great, cuz he gets out of the way and just lets Gaiman talk, and Gaiman certainly has a lot he wants to say ... nothing worse than an interviewer who wants to steal the show or wastes times with stupid questions.

  • just finished reading "Neverwhere" today. I absolutely loved it. lol

  • Tim Burton should do Neverwhere!

  • Why do you listen to him then?

  • The second I saw this kid's half-assed smile I disliked him. The constant chuckling and lack of helpful questions really didn't help at all.

  • love sandman series hes a very versatile writer that much is clear though his creativity and ability to twist reality into unique regardless of the audience he is writing for though the adult books are far more mature in their concepts and themes but in the end i have loved every single one of his books i have ever read even the ones he wrote with other authors like good omens and interworlds but the more i think about it the less i am sure a single movie could do most of his books justice...

  • simply due to the multitude of complex ideas that at first seem random later come together to make it even more amazing now i think of it a sandman movie would be phenomenal but still eagerly await american gods (if they make it) and neverwhere and still want to read odd and the frost giants and some others i havent got a chance to find in books stores currently reading fragile things and enjoying it :D

  • I'm sorry to point it out, being bad internet etiquette and whatnot, but for being such a big fan of such a literate and descriptive author, your mastery of sentence composition and punctuation is simply atrocious.

  • I loved neverwhere.

I cant wait for the movie.

  • Coraline fuckin kicks ass(:

  • @Lexiluvscoraline12 Neverwhere is better.

  • @fenster666 O_O hm? whats that?

  • @Lexiluvscoraline12 It is Neil Gaiman's first novel, and my favourite of his books, I would defiantly recommend it.

  • Are you drunk or did you just fall asleep on your keyboard?

  • My 4 year old niece likes to use the computer, and I forget to sign out of youtube sometimes.. So no to either.

  • It's Coraline, not Coralyn.

  • he pronounced it wrong, what a jackass.

  • Cora-LINE not Cora-lean! The movie is a great one and is my favorite forever now.

  • I got the Neverwhere TV series off of Netflix once. It originally aired on BBC, and I believe was is comprised of six episodes. By the third one though, I got bored and stopped watching, which is a shame, because I thoroughly devoured the book. It just wasn't moving all that fast, the acting was a bit hokey and the FX were a bit see through. I can see it happening as a big budget film, though.

I'm glad to see Neil is involved in the film adaptations of his work.

  • I quite liked the film but preffered the book. Although I've only watched one episode of Neverwhere so far, the book is very much enjoyable, I look forward to more ^^

  • neverwhere is a tv series? what do you mean by episode i loved the book and i cant understand why they havent made most of his books into movies yet neverwhere american gods anansi boys interworlds graveyard book and so many others would all be amazing movies though i did enjoy star dust and coraline i never felt them to be his best works not to say they are not fantastic in their own right

  • I agree. American Gods would be perfect for a movie. I don't understand the choice of Coraline. Im sure kids will like it, but then he generally doesn't write for kids.

  • Well, he's got Wolves in the Walls, and The Day I Swapped My Dad For Two Goldfish. Plus Coraline makes three children's books. *shrug*

I personally would rather see AG as a miniseries to give viewers the time to mull over the story, and even get into some of the tangential episodes.

  • Oh, and how could I forget... The Graveyard Book. DUH! *hits self*

  • Neil Gaiman might be one of the best male writers I've ever known, along with Philip Pullman, Clive Barker, Jonathan Stroud and Carlos Ruiz Zafon. He's just THE master.

  • Have you read the books? I have read Coraline, and though there were several differences in the movie from the book, I believe it (Coraline movie) was still enjoyable and worth the time and money. It was very well made. What did you not like about it?

  • Actually, there were alot of differances - from Coraline already going exploring on the first day of their move to everyone having a garden party at the end.

  • I said there were several differences. How is that not the same from 'a lot of differences'? And movies tend to go at a faster pace than books go, it helps it not to drag and keeps the audience interested.

  • There better be a Neverwhere movie!

I was itty bitty for the tv series and not living in the UK I can't see it. Neverwhere was the first book I read of his! Got me into mai favorite author. Pleaseeeee, make a worthy movie! :D

  • oh you can see the old tv series here in youtube, it's pretty good even though the novel is, well, just dazzling. Just search Neverwhere and there you should have access to all 6 episodes, each one has 3 parts.

  • You idiots...it doesn't matter... he is amazing writer and that's all.

    I love his work.

If he is a good or bad man, it doesn't matter for me.

  • I've noticed that no where is therer any proof that Gaiman is a Scientolgist and as far as I know his father was one, but he isn't. And even if he is, what does it matter? Damn all you people in V masks saying you are all for equal rights but won't respect other peoples beliefes.

  • Neil Gaiman is a US "Patron with Honors" of Scientology for 2004 & 2006. According to ex scientologist Jon Attack, Patrons (are) the highest ranking membership of the International Association of Scientologists. Founding Patrons (those who became Patrons by the IAS 20th Anniversary (October/November 2004) have donated US $40,000. Patrons with Honor have donated US $100,000. Gaiman donates BIG money to Scieno. People are in Guatanamo for less than the money trail connecting Gaiman to the CULT!

  • can we just enjoy the magic of his writing and not get angry at his personal right to choose his own beliefs? And if you don't like someone having their own beliefs then go to Antartica and live in isolation because we don't want you anywhere.

  • Gaiman family refers to the family Gaiman was raised with. He didn't donate money personally. His wife is still a scientologist but they are divorced. He would readily disvow Scientology but can't do so as his family wouldn't be allowed to communicate with him per Scientology rules. It's more Scientology which is to blame for this silly situation.

  • No, Neil Gaiman is listed separately as in the Scientology pages as a USA Gaiman. The UK Gaimans (mom and Dad) donate separately and his sisters are listed under their married names. I hope you never run into a lying serial killer... just because someone pretends to be be nice doesn't mean they aren't lying pricks. Wake up!

  • What I find annoying about these posts is how the same information is posted on the same video again, and again. That can cause people to see it as spam. Also, when

SoylentGreeeen asked for a source all that was said in reply was, "Neil Gaiman's family are ALL heavy-weight Scienos. Father David Gaiman died on...(describes rest of families involvement)," but no source; the person just says, again, that they're involved.

On another note, I would like to see a 'Neverwhere' film.

  • oh god, a Neverwhere movie. Does anyone think there will still be open auditions for Door out there?

  • YEssssssssss more scientology trolls. No one cares who a scientologist is.

Scientology is soooo 2008. Grow up. Get your own life.

  • what he does with his money is his choice.

what he wants to talk about is up to him.

scientology doesn't oppress people, people allow themselves to be oppressed by it. It is oppressing you right now since it is the only thing you and Exalibur can talk about and think of.

grow up, stop spamming his threads with your inane hogwash...do more research. He has nothing to do with scientology, his father did though.

  • Warwize 1. What Gaiman does with his money is his choice and open to ridicule. 2. What Gaiman wants to talk about is certainly up to him and what everyone else wants to talk about is up to them. 3. I choose to talk about the fact that Gaiman is a lying scientologist. 4. It doesn't oppress me, dorkface, I enjoy it. 5. Why don't you grow up and make a stand against an evil organization like Scientology instead of wanking off to Gaiman?

  • How about you gain some direction in life and go on your anti-whatever crusade somewhere where you can create coherent arguments and show some proof instead of typing up angry little remarks that amount to nothing except simple bashing and trolling.

You have no direction and no substance. I'm all for anti-scientology and anti-bullshit. But do it properly. What you are doing is simple slander and trolling.

  • Warwize, you're an idiot. Any hopes I had for you being able to make a spark with a couple of your brain cells are now dashed. I'm sure it's rather inconvenient for you, after all, Gaiman is just trying to sell a few books and if he has to destroy people in the process, well who cares? I fucking care, you Jackass. This is a public forum and Gaiman being a CULT member is a big concern to me. Oh yeah, thanks for replying to me... that's how I find this stupid thread again. You're a big help :)

  • Comment removed

  • he isn't destroying anyone, there's no proof he did what you said, it's all a bunch of conspiracy theories typed up on blogs and forums by people with no lives.

even if he did give some money a long time ago, it doesn't mean he is one of them, your accusations are unfounded and exaggerated

lastly, the people who get sucked into scientology are gullible and moronic and would've been lost in some other cult/religion/addiction...no big deal

  • I'm about 3/4 of the way through Neverwhere right now. I saw Coraline the day after it came out; can't wait to read the book.

  • I have studied religions & cults for years. BIG difference. Religious freedom should be accepted. Cults are dangerous and harmful to members AND non-members. WAKO happened BECAUSE it had a religious status. It was not govt regulated as Scientology is not. Child slave labor & abuse is in common. Nothing is their beleifs is religious or spiritual. That status being chalanged by Gov now. ALL cult members are dangerous & revelant. We need to be ahead of future cult tragedys.PROTECT our children!

  • You don't know what a troll is. :)

  • I was only commenting on the fact that you seem to think if someone doesn't share your opinion and disrespects your right to state it s/he's a troll and that is entirely wrong.

I find it very unlikely that Neil still is an active member of Scientology. As far as I know only his father is recorded being a member.

Why would Neil keep silent about Scientology? Scientology uses his popular member as advertisement and we probably would have spotted the ideology in one of his works.

  • Could you provide me with any links to back up your point? I've seen the same words spammed all over the internet but I never found a source.

His last recorded contact with Scientology was TWENTY YEARS AGO and of course is the Gaiman family high ranking. Neil's father is a prominent member of the cult. You have no proof that he currently is a Scientologist, so don't wonder people dislike your comments. You severely insult their favourite author without evidence.

  • Comment removed

  • Damn, Excalibur! I'm just trying to put off studying for this chemical engineering exam I have tomorrow by watching Coraline videos on youtube, and I can't get away from your completely irrelevant (Yes, they are irrelevant - see SoylentGreeeen's comment) "Scientology awareness" lectures!

No fans of Neil Gaiman (and especially Coraline) could cares about this. Not one. Go post on, oh, I don't know... A Scientology video?

  • Wow, a Neverwhere movie? I'm so excited!

  • you people will love Coraline. i saw the special screening. AMAZING

  • MORE CORALINE TALK!!!

  • doubt it

  • same

  • Coraline is going to be great, but I wish they kept the original black door though.

  • I am in love with Neverwhere. I'd freak out if I was interviewing Gaiman! =^_^=

  • MORE SANDMAN DISCUSSION NOW!!!!!!

  • I peed a little just hearing him talk, this interviewer is composing himself quite well. I would be a drooling doll/turd man in such a great writer/story teller's presence.

  • I'd never be able to interview Neil Gaiman. I think if I ever actually met him, I'd simply lose the ability to form words. On top of that, I'd probably just pass out from the overwhelming amount of awesomeness.

That said, this is a great interview and I'm oh-so-excited about the prospect of a properly made Neverwhere movie! I adore that book to pieces.

    Neil Gaiman is a genius.

  • I finished reading Neverwhere early hours of Friday morning, and it totally amazed me. I then proceeded to watch the BBC series of it today and didn't seem to enjoy it so much. It was very "pink" and luminscent? And the characters weren't, quite, how I imagined.

I'm glad to hear a proper movie is being made of it. Coraline is brilliant in every way, as is Henry Selick. Can't wait for that, either.

  • yeah the reviewer's shitting bricks in this; i'd love the opportunity to have a chat with the guy though; he always seems like he's got more to say then he's letting on, and if you're willing to scratch the surface then you wouldn't be disappointed. and by almighty god i'd love to see a proper, author's preferred text of neverwhere in cinematic form. i have my own, dark idea of it and i'm sure that would be what gaiman would be angling for. we shall see.

  • I wonder if there ever is going to bee a Good Omens movie...

  • just read neverwhere yesterday. definitely in the same league as sandman! neil gaiman you rock!

  • Just finished the Neverwhere Book and loved it. I can't wait to see the movie.

  • I didn't think the Neverwhere TV series was that bad, but I would definitely see a movie version of it, especially if it's produced by the Weinstein Brothers!

I'm deeply envious that Justin had a chance to do this! Nervous? I would be too!

Nice change from the standard format. They should do more of these.

  • I saw the Neverwhere TV series after reading the book and it was just terrible. In my imagination I saw it as so much darker, more mature and on a larger scale.

Then again I imagined the Spirit of Jazz playing Marquis De Carabas. So I didn't get it right either.

  • (reply to 0BatGirl0)

I quite literally laughed out loud when I imagined the Spirit of Jazz playing de Carabas! That's AMAZING. And now I'll imagine that next time I read the book... oh dear.

  • You're welcome!

  • Ditto. In conclusion... My imagination: Much better than low budget television directors. It must have been really low budget.

  • YES! Neverwhere film! Been waiting for ages...

  • What do you think they're using to edit their videos, and animations and stuff.

  • A Neverwhere movie done right... Can't wait. Gaiman is awesome.

  • Justin looks like his head is about to explode from being so nervous.

  • pulp secret is the best show about comics on the net.this is proof of that...

  • Pulp Secret and the Dream King. The interview of interviews.

  • i could listen to him talk for hours. hes got a superb manner. layed back. unimposing. but you cant help but be intrigued by him.

hell of a guy. me him and wossy in a room together would be awesome. i think id spazz out.

  • Neil Gaiman- not just one of the best comic writers of all time, but just one of the best writers period.

  • you sit like a girl

  • very interesting. pulp secret needs more unusual comic interviews and less supers hero stuff imho

  • I'll agree with that. I like the superhero stuff but pulp secret needs a shot of diversity. Something like 1 out of every 5 episodes could be non-superhero. That would be cool. Not sure what their formula is at the present.

  • This guy is a genious. Great vid guys!!

  • It's always fun to see the sudden change into "very serious" from "really nerdy humorous" as soon as there's an interview. =)

  • Heh, Justin has these love struck dove eyes toward Neil Gaiman. XD

  • wouldn't you? lol

  • Wow, Justin, I've never seen you so serious before. When I saw this new video, I said to myself, "Oh no, Justin is going to dork out on Neil Gaiman," but I was wrong! Very nice interview!

  • I want more...

  • Neil is a class act, and one of the comic book indutry's greatests. Thanks for posting this video guys.
