    this is good music!

    XLY

  • "Black Flowers Blossom" :) Hey guys, check our cover by typing "White Note Teardrop" and let us know if you enjoy it :)

  • medicine is an awesome field Id like to be like Dr.House

  • Excuse my french but i honestly think this is about sex. love love is a verb, its also a "doing" word..

"gentle" impulsion ( lol ), shakes me, makes me lighter...

hence the whole birth footage, shes describing all those sexual feelings

teardrop on the fire prolly means she hit climax so hard she couldnt hold that enjoying tear xD or perhaps she took it too deep i dunno xP

  • @bl00dwaste The song is said to be about abortion, hence the baby 'dying' at the end of the clip. But your look at it sounds happier Xd

  • I seem to remeber newton faulkner also doing a version of this song?

  • @Lollipoploopz Elbow also did a nice version

  • And embracing the unknown of new experience...but could probably project many interpretations onto it, it depends on the listener...I like its mystery.

  • its not about abortion............I wonder, well to me, if it's about feeling reborn into a new experience of Love.....it doesn't sound or seem sad, it feels and sounds very liberating. .....Teardrops on the fire.....fearless on my breath. Just what I think tho :)

  • i will never see this video again, this video es creepy. but i like the group and the song

  • i will never see this video again, this video es creepy.

  • this song and this video arent about abortion, they are bout the wonder of life, the wonder of birth...

  • song is great, but this video freaks me out...

  • Thumbs up if house didnt bring you here! ¬¬.

  • @Jonezy1 Hahaha! Yes Jonezy boy! Massive Attack were in our ear drums way before that shitty american TV show!! Massive Attack are Bristol boys doing us Brits very proud.

  • i'm not in the discussion if it's about abortion or what...i know i feel like crying now...

  • NIce Nice ! =D

  • my exquisitely good taste in music brought me here

  • The thought of having peaceful sex brought me here....

What you could make love to this song! >_< :P :) <3

  • Massive Attack brought me here

  • absolutely, positively nothing brought me here other than my memory for when music was good

  • 1998's Publish of the Video brought me here ;) I still love that song and about all their others

  • assasins creed

  • assassins creed brought me here :)

  • ..now that he's dead she wishes she had the baby so he/she could be a part of him left on earth, she probably regrets it, and to all you house fans out there don't forget the #1 rule "EVERYBODY lies" and the second, "it's lupus" thefore the baby had lupus and it threatened the mother's life so she had to make a choice of aborting the baby or risking both their lives.(the second one is bullshit)

  • I KNOW this video is about abortion, the REAL lyrics suggest that, and I've actually research all the interviews where she's constantly denied it, ellen degeneres constantly denied or deflected the fact that she was gay, and she's a REAL QUEER (to ffgdjs). I'll give you that, but did you know that her "friend" that died was at one point her lover for many years, BINGO (the house detective mentality) therefore I SUGGEST that she got pregnant with his baby and had an abortion and now that he's

  • THHIIIS VIDEO IS NOT ABOUT ABOOOORTION HOLY SHIT THE PERSON THAT WROTE THIS CLEARLY SAID THat ITS NOT ABOUT ABORTION in that case all you queers suggesting it is are retarded and just want to follow your own way they wrote this song, they know what they are talking about, its not about abortion.

  • Idk why this song makes me feel clever and smart

  • Idk why this song make me feel clever and smart

  • The Baby is fully shaped, I think its short before Birth.

  • Its a Video about Birth in my Opinion.

  • @MrStuhlmann it has to do with abortion

  • wat the hell

  • If it's about abortion, then how come the baby didn't die at the end? Pretty stupid.

  • Omg This song brings a tear to my eye everytime i hear it D; Lovee it though x)

  • haha Sliver bought me here....

  • alright. fuck abortion.

  • @cwaugh85 This has nothing to do with abortion...

"Robert Del Naja stated in a 2010 interview on The Hour that Elizabeth Fraser wrote the song about Jeff Buckley, of whom she had been a great friend"

    about his death:

"While awaiting the arrival of his band from New York, he drowned during a spontaneous evening swim—fully clothed—in the Wolf River, when he was caught in the wake of a passing boat. His body was found on June 4, 1997"

This song is about her friends death.

  • @yllwducky aha, and what has that to do with a baby?

  • @dirtybase91 Maybe what the child represents: fragility, innocence, scared of the unknown, vulnerability. Try thinking outside the box sometimes, music doesn't always have to be so literal. The only reason why I am certain this video is not about abortion is because the artist's themselves have said so.

  • @yllwducky you're fucking stupid and so are the other 4 people who gave you a thumbs up, this video is SO!! ANTI-abortion and so is the lyrics, the CORRECT lyrics support that, the singer(scotish catholic) just doesnt want to admit it probably because she wont get another job because today's society only expects sex and lewdness in their songs just look at sweet little nelly furtado, she wasn't paying her bills 'till she came up with "promiscuous girl" but don't let my point of view persuade you

  • @yllwducky I will prove to you the idiot that posted this lyrics probably "read" them instead of "hearing" them the first couple of time she says" feel that someone...pray" then the third time she says"fearless on my...pray" just give it a try close your eyes and draw out all other noise and insert those lyrics I told you and you'll see. now read in between the lines it's about a fetus that feels that her mom prays wether it is for absolution for the abortion she's thinking of doing

  • @yllwducky or maybe is because of a prayer for the fetus health(the baby looks like it has down syndrome). "nine nine of matter" basically nine months of matter(human body) in the belly goes with "(even) black flowers blossom" the woman is starting to think is okay to abort a down syndrome baby. then she's looking at herself in the mirror as if to gain strength thinking you can do it, then it is revealed "teardrop on the fire OF A CONFESSION" would a tear drop extinguish a fire? it's useless!

  • @yllwducky so then it is revealed "teardrop in the fire OF A CONFESSION" meaning she confesses to her sin and asks fro absolution and caretaking of her baby to GOD but still decides to go with the abortion then in the video you see from 3:23-3:24 you see that poison passes through the umbilical cord and all of a sudden the light inside the womb diminishes as if the baby is dying from 3:28-3:38 and just as if the light is about to go out you hear GOD tell the baby "you're stumbling a little"

  • @yllwducky as if dont worry it will pass I'll take care of you, because probably the baby was scared and confused because of the lack of knowledge of what his mother was doing to him then you see the baby crossing the plane of existance from 3:44-3:50 as you see intense light(GOD) taking him and you actually see GOD'S hand in 3:58-3:59 and the light is so overwhelming to a baby who's never seen light from 4:02-4:06 but you see his "carnal" body descending while you see another version ascending.

  • @yllwducky In conclusion the artist may deny this song and video are not about abortion all day long 'till the end of time but if you look closely to the video and the lyrics with the thought of abortion you will see it is against abortion in the sense that GOD does take the little ones to heaven therefore how could a "FETUS" go to heaven. if a fetus is not recognized by authorities? you know what I mean?

  • Well,, I think the fetus is great. i disagree with you people who find it creepy, I think it's beautiful! AND... it adds to the kind of trippiness :)

  • great video, :/ it has always creeped me out, but it's still a great video.

  • The Plains Indians Americans used to play with their umbilical cords as toys when they were kids, luul

  • long after Tricky went to do his own thing , BUT it is really a heart felt trip hop song :) , the random nature is what I like :) , if I wanted to make a great partnership I would call on the original members of HELMET to tour and record with Tricky and his 90's crew for 6 months (at best ) ( well that is me hoping :P hell I love what they create I just don't know IF I would want to be around them as bright as they are),Paige :)))

  • It's not lupus.

    It's never lupus.

  • I HATE HOUSE, I LOVE THIS!

  • We must give credit to the great Liz Fraser, former voice of Cocteau Twins. I've seen this video over and over and she never get any acknowledgement. It's unfair to one of the most influencial musicians of the 80's and 90's. They should have done a video with her singing instead of he fetus.

  • this womb is as big as a flat xD ! awsome song btw !

  • I looked this song's lyrics up on MetroLyrics and they have it down as "feathers on my breath". That alwqays bugged me. Glad to see it isn't so - lol.

  • an epic song that will last the test of time.

if you like triphop listen to Better days by the underground artist T on my page

  • it sounds like..."black fowlers bring more sun" ^^

  • Awesome, Epic, Astonishing song!!!!!

  • as far as I know, it's not quite clear if she sings "fearless on my breath" or "feathers on my breath", even Liz Fraser won't state what she was actually singing there. After listenting to it closely, I believe she sang both variations. Unfortunately the baby's lip-syncing isn't exactly superb, so it doesn't help solving this mystery either..

  • I look at it like this, you can interpret what the song means for you, it might be something entirely different, but you feel what you feel

  • I look at it like this, you can interpret what the song means for you, it might be something entirely different, but you feel what you feel

  • isn't it "You're stumbling in the door" for the last 2 lines? seems there are too many syllables for just "stumbling in the dark" or "stumbling a little"

it also seems like she alternates between breath and breathe

and isn't it "love is a do word" not "love is a doing word" ?

  • @Remia42 "love is a do word" doesn't make much sense? it's "love is a doing word"

  • LOVE THIS SONG OMG

    IS on HOUSE

    =D

  • kakvo li e da stane6 majka na 19??

    az bih .. no ..

  • @smokyeyesfly

  • I agree that each person has their own ideas about what the song may be about, I believe this song is about the creation of life not an end to it, but this is my own idea and adds to the enjoyment of the song for me.

I have always loved this song as it brings good feeling to myself.

  • Feeetuuss on my breeeaaaaaathh

  • THUMPS UP IF YOU COME HERE BECAUSE THIS IS THE "HOUSE" THEME SONG..LOL

  • @davidjtrent lame.

  • @acramsay80 yea OK, douche-bag

  • @davidjtrent I'm sorry that you are so easily offended.

  • @davidjtrent no because it was the assassins creed advertisment song xD

  • @davidjtrent

Thumps lol! But yes, House brought me here too

  • Wow.

    Awesome.

    *_*

  • This song is like 12 years old and people still chat about it. Awesome

  • I think its about telling your partner about an affair or something to that affect. Fearless in my breath- refers to summoning the courage to tell something painful- that's why its repeated- its a mantra- she talks about tears, black flowers and being faithful. In an interview she stated,"You take each other's breath away by doing something or saying something they never saw coming." guardian.co.uk/music/2009/nov/26/cocteau-twins-elizabeth-fraser-interview

  • did u ever guess its bout how she feels inside or wat the baby could be doing while inside her

  • @jittsaijazz the baby is singing, that's what its about

  • @charlieshiiin haha i gotta laugh at that im such a overseeing fool

  • water is my eye-most faithful miiror

  • Ow, that's huge!

  • gestern meinem Sohn in SingStar vorgesungen

  • According to my mother's labour stories, I'm of the opinion that that's me.

  • House brought me here.

  • exactly the same here

  • the baby can't be aborted at this level of development, firstly it's ilegal past 4 months, but if you ask me he's somewhere between 6 and 8 months or so....so he'd just be a premature child.

  • yeah ok this is is kinda freaky and i think the fetus looks like that girl from the episode where everyone thought she was a dwarf but she was really hormonilay challenges or watever and tht girl scared the crap out of me as well excuse me im spelling challenged

  • trust me even the boys didnt know what the song is about haha Elizabeth Fraser perfect for this song! this song live is amazing miss those days when music was music!!

  • Massive Attack's videos are extremely metaphorical. People need to start seeing things for what is truely behind them, not what they are literally seeing happen.

  • okay, this just gets creepyer and wierder as the baby keeps talking, omg!! had to stop watchin at 3:02- 3:15 creepyyyyyyyyy!!!! :S *SHIVERS*

  • this song was for jeff buckley i think

  • .. ..Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ♥

  • This video is beautiful and weird at the same time. I wouldn't even begin to speculate what this song is about, I just enjoy it. Absolutely sublime song

  • this video freaks me out o_O

  • @onypotter me too :S

  • i love this song! for me (personal opinion) its about life and what you see is what you belive (from the begining to the end) and the fact we are all stumbling in the dark the whole way through (life).

amazing song no matter what you make of it!!!!

  • its not about abortion u dorks lol

  • it's not about abortion, it's just dramatic and disturbing, modern art.

  • i have to say, i actually think this song is about the whole process of pregnancy to birth. (gentle impulsions) - having sex and getting pregnant?? maybe?? :) x

  • hi guys... i'm not american

    so i have a question,

does anybody could explain to me

the mean of LOVE IS A DOING WORD

'cause if i translate that, it doesn't make sense

so could you try to explain using another words?

i would like to make a tattoo with that sentence

but first i gotta know what it means!

    thanks

  • @julybran it means you CAN LOVE because love is a verb obviously so you can do it

  • @yellowsubmarine100 ooh thank you!!!! ; )

  • @julybran it just means that love is something you do. i however disagree and feel that 'love is a doing word' makes no sence. it's not deep enough a phrase to mean anything. love is more complicated and painful while at the same time give you such a buzz whenever you think about the person/people you love or the thing (be it a person or a thing).

  • @666jimmysmusicgirl oh thank you very much, i got it, i thought it was a little complicated but it isn't,. that's because the translation to portuguese is wierd,so i could'nt understand very well.

    Thanks again!

  • @julybran the unconditional feeling of love and honesty between you and you partner sharing everything keeping nothing secret

  • @DirRtYGoOgzZ cool

     i got it! thanks ;)

  • Love this vid! Nothing says awesome like this singing fetus!

  • who gives negative thumb ?

why you search 4 it if you dont like it ?

    omg so many kid´s..

Thx 4 upload very good song!!!

  • I agree with Skipperdoo!

  • i found this video oddly creepy.....

  • Honestly people if it was about abortion there wouldn't be a flash of light, there would be a big metal spinning blade suction thingy coming toward's i looked up how it's done, no light's involved. Like one person said it's probably the kind leaving the GINORMO womb and entering the probably GINORMO birth canal lol.

  • @MuddyDaisy But the baby would be locked in a certain position. Or it's a breech in which case, you would probably see a metal spinning thing to C-section it.

If it were being aborted the flash of light would probably be the baby being vacuumed out of the womb (they don't just get absorbed into the body, you know)

  • I am good, long time friends with this band. I must say that this song is NOT about abortion, rather new life, as some of you already stated. Just thought that I would state this fact to end some disputes. Thank You, and goodbye.

  • this is genius! and Liz Fraser is absolutely breathtakin' isimply cannot stop listening this song... is a far cry from what is called "music" nowadays

  • Gosh. The vid is well. baaad. Wanna remakeeee.

Anyway, I can't seem to figure out what the lyrics are all about.. Abortion seems logic, since the lyrics fit. But judging from the video I say it's about new life, cuz well you can't remove a baby when it's allready this big.

  • daaaamn!!! this song!! o.O i KNOW it from some movie or so.. >< does anybody know where do i know this from?? :DD

  • @MurphyS91 opening of House :D

  • @MurphyS91 Maybe you known this music from House MD (tv series).

  • its NOT about abortion ... the bright light is the baby about too enter the birth canal to be born.

  • I think this video is about the human condition. A foetus, it's exploration of who it is, the fear of the unkown, it's affirmation of it's own exsistence. the fear of change as seen with the light of birth at the end... nothing and everything changes from the moment of conception to the moment of death but we maintain who we are by the belief in ourselves, as fluid as that is.

  • genial xD

  • Fearless 4 us!

  • heroin trip.....maybe ^^

  • The Music is good, but the video is soooo bad. Lame. I hate the video. xD

  • wow her womb is massive.

  • she has a bucket

  • @K1ller30 I know right? That babies almost full term, when I was pregnant my son about beat my lung's to death. That's like 18 kid's and counting womb or something lol.

  • O.o ive decided i dont like singing fetus's

  • @SummerRae3 yeah! 0.0 THATS CREEPY.... but original, and good soundtrack =D

  • @SummerRae3 Hahahahaha!!! Pretty creepy ei?

  • @SummerRae3 Same... same.

  • House.....

    Good song.

  • Good Song but a bad Video. Boring. Lame.

But the Music nis Good. xD

  • @sAnnyguy lol, try one of the best videos ever!

  • @olinolsen No i think this is a boring video.

  • cocteau twins rule

  • I'm a mother and having sensed the growing life inside me I find it perfect...:)

  • yes it is this music is about abortion

  • its about mother doing crack and getting the unborn sick and addicted.....

  • Its funny how everyone tries to say a song is about this or that. no one but the artist knows. for all you know it could be a song about the end of the world. but no one can 100% say "its about abortion" or "its about earth" unless you are the person who created the song, or at least the lyrics. but please, feel free to continue arguing :-)

  • @VKMTkitty yepp, thank you!

  • @VKMTkitty i am afriad that even artists dont know what's this song about :]

  • @VKMTkitty

Can I just listen to the song and enjoy it? (the way it was ment to be?)

  • @VKMTkitty

It's more fun when the listener gets to decode it because half the time the popular consensus is more artistic than what the artist actually meant. Like "In the Air Tonight", it's more fun to imagine it as a song about the guy who let someone drown even though Phil Collins keeps saying it's not, and that it has no meaning.

  • @VKMTkitty wah shut up

  • even if its about the end of the world, to the baby it's its end of the world duhhhh

    (Double standards)

    double standard

    –noun

    1.

any code or set of principles containing different provisions for one group of people than for another, esp. an unwritten code of sexual behavior permitting men more freedom than women. Compare single standard ( def. 1 ) .

  • quite disturbing but i lyke the song and i wanted to find out why people were sayin its about an abortion... i think its true! i think its about a mother who is having an abortion but is regretting that decision. and shes trying to not feel guilty about ending her unborn child's life-- but failing.... wow that lyke really deep...

  • Dr. House ROCKS.!!

  • probably the most boring band i ever saw at glasto, until this came on, they had a blonde pale lady all in white playing a white harp, amazing song and i forgot how good the video was, a lovely tune!!

  • is the vid 3D, how did they make it?.. wtf? wtf? hello? welcome in 2010!

  • @Jok3r157 Massive attack-Teardrop 1998

  • umm.... is tht baby 3D??? how did they make this video??

  • who needs in ipod?!??! this woman has an ibaby!!!

  • DR.HOUSE

  • Well, this wasn't creepy.

  • THe light is the ultra sound wand going over the mothers tummy....

  • Nice job! Check out my page for a great cover by South African band, Civil Twilight

  • according to my view, the last sad look in his eyes is the upcoming birth of him, his going into this world, and according to Hindu scriptures the pain that a being feels during birth is very severe....peace....:-)

  • This is the song, wich was played at my former classmate's funeral. He was just 19 years old :'(

    But very good song.

  • if anyone looks closely at the flashes u can see the mother craddling her hand over her stomach

this song is about love life and the uncertainty it brings as far as i know

  • dieing is easy living is hard! think about it, all you who are against abortion, what happens if a woman is raped and becomes pregnant do you think you would want a constant reminder of what happened??? i wouldnt! as i said dieing is easy living is whats hard, and why do we fear death? death is peaceful and easy but living is a very hard thing!

  • @KaylaShow123 the reason humanity fears death because there is no detail about what happens to you. Do you live on, Do you go to heaven, do you reincarnate or do you stop. Humans fear this because it is unkown.

  • a lyk a voice but the lyrics are a bit shit

  • the baby is about to come out!

  • That's a big uterus.

  • ok, officially one of the weirdest and freakiest film clips ive EVER seen :S

nice song, but really dont like the film clip

  • sick song and sick vid!! luv it..and but shows too..house and prision break

  • Good song! House, M.D. is my favorite T.V. series! *grins impishly*

  • this saundtrack was in prison break s01e20

  • graetest song from house md
