Raistlin is the perfect mix of good and evil characteristics: persistance, courage, patience, inner power, intelligence and quick wit, passion where as on the evil side of the story: ambitious, dark spirited, selfish, self-centered, cruel, arrogant and sharp tongued. But what makes him perfect is he can carry on all of these features with him whereever he goes without any penalty and these fit him just flawless.

I love Raistlin's entire personality, he's such a dick and he's not sentimental in situations where other characters like Caramon and particularly Tanis tend to be.

Books of Dragonlance is awesome. it's about 103 of them. Dragolance is parallel world of Forgotten Realms are Ravenloft.

Raistlin is one of the most badass wizards i know,- (SPOILER)

-the the guy becomes a freaking GOD and KILLS EVERYOTHER GOD

including Takhisis and Paladine

though.. unfortunately he causes Krynn to fall apart in the process..

It's in the Twins trilogy if you want to read it.. it has a little to do with Tanis but the story mainly goes with Caramon, Tasslehoff (w00t), Raistlin, and a new character named Crysania

When I first became a Raistlin fan, I had no idea he had such a huge following Oo For me, I love his ruthless sense of necessity...and I generally don't pick out the magic users as favorites. He just has such an incredible sense confident dominance and control -- he knows what he wants and he's willing to do anything to get it.

I wasn't too impressed with the movie, either, but I hear they worked really hard on it. It probably doesn't help that it took such a long time :/

just think though, he always had to live in the shadow of his brother, and on top of being in his brother's shadow he had to rely on his brother to help with his health issues, he always blamed himself for killing his brother even though it was a wraith in his test at the tower of high sorcery. Raistlen is a story of someone that has to get past all the odds and he ends up succeeding even to the point of becoming a god

Raistlin has such a huge following because he is an example of someone who was very weak in the early stages of his life but rose to great power later in life. Everyone can identify with that desire. As he grows in power he gains the ability to change things around him to his will. Who doesn't fantasize about that?

the movie ruled, but i knew what to expect after i got to talk to Hickman at a chance meeting in the SLC airport, which got me pumped for the movie. In his words it was "a mixture of he-man style animation and 3D" I think it's innovative and different, but to each their own. However, every dragonlance fan should own a copy of the DVD if they REALLY want Dragonlance to be made into a film. Supporting it with your dollars is the only thing that will convince hollywood to make a live action.

i dont know too much bout raistlin but uhm is he a red robed wizard or a black robed wizard? I was reading dragonlance:the new adventures, and it appeared that he was a black robed, but when you see him everywhere else he is wearing red robes. and and whats with the yellowish skin?

He was a red wizard, which is neutral, but then he changed to a black wizard after he disappeared with one of the dragon orbs.

His skins is yellow because of the trials of the wizards tower, which are cruel and tough, and it damaged his skin.

Actually the gold skin was a spell cast by Fistandantilus during the test after making a deal with him. It allows (or rather during the test allowed) Raistlin to be somewhat impervious to magical attacks. His health was greatly damaged for sure though, due to being stabbed by an opponent in his test (as well as having to deal with Fistandantilus especially after having gone back on his deal and in a weakened state).

Raistlin should have died when he took the test to become a mage, but instead he made a deal with Fistandantilus, an evil archmage who was a lich. Raistlin survived and was promised great power, but at a cost. He would be tied to Fistandantilus, and they would become one person. Raistlin craves power over all other things, and the black robes gain knowledge faster than the red and white. His yellow skin and hourglass pupils are a reminder of his mortality from Par-Salian who devised his test.

You should read "The Soulforge" by Margret Weis to know more about Raistlin. But his character comes into it's own in "Dragonlance Legends", a triology explaining how Raistlin breaks away from the companions to pursue his goal of becoming a God and seeking revenge on Krynn, Fistandantilus, the Gods themselves and, of course, Par Salian.

The only thing about Raistlin that bugs me is that throughout all of the books you're like "Is he good?" "is he bad?" "Good" "bad" "good" "bad" GAH! LOL but overall he's a great character:) I'm a Tasslehoff fan myself, but Raistlin on my top favs. Nice video for Windows Movie Maker btw...it was well done. Not everyone can do this...my comp hates Movie maker.
