  • Im soo sorry :(. My 4 month old yorkie does that too. Im afraid of whats gonna happen

  • aww this makes me so sad. my heart goes out to you. I could not imagine my baby having to go through this.

  • my yorkie Petey is 12 years old and gagging everyday. I was treating with homopathic remediess but still does it. Any solutions?

  • I'm sorry to hear that you had to let her go. My Yorkie does this too, not as often as yours did. This is why I'm on the Internet, looking for answers!

  • @kellyandpaula1 Just be careful--the best answers will come from a professional (your vet). Anybody can write ANYTHING on the internet!

  • I know it's been over a year but I am so sorry for your loss <3 My pom is almost 7 and he suffers from the same disease ...

  • I just found out today that my dog has this. Terrified me at first, but he is not really really bad thankfully.

  • um what do you mean you had to put her down this week if you dont mind me asking please please reply please....

  • I just read your post. I am so very sorry. I know how difficult it must have been for you.

  • OH--my yorkie is doing this, too! her glands are so swelled---I don't know what to do. HELP.

  • Hi...just a little note to let you know that I also have a 10yr old Yorkie that has suffered from this dreadful cough due to collapsing trachea. Went to the vet and he prescribed TUSSIGON for her. Must say it has helped her GREATLY. My yorkie coughed a lot...drank a lot of water...vicious cycle until I recently gave her this medication she is doing SO MUCH BETTER her cough has stopped while on medication:) Hope this helps and God bless.

  • @claudia88815 HI Claudia. I lost my little girl. We had to put her down Feb 25, 2010. I left this video up because I have had many caring Yorkie Lovers that were concerned about Jasmine. God bless you and your little one too.

  • @claudia88815 Hi: My Yorkie Benji has this and I do give him tussigon sometimes but it spaces him out and he does have an accident with no. 1 sometimes so I stopped it and just try to keep him quiet. He sleeps a lot because he is 14 and is quiet in sleep. I do take him out and after he does his thing I put him in a stroller for the balance of the walk. Activity kept down and hoping for the best for him. Mom lived to 15.5.

  • Hi..yes my Yorkie too has the same and he will be nine in April. I have taken him to 2 different vets and the only medication that has seemed to help is isoproperenol/Ephed/Theoph Elixir. It is an old school med and sometimes I have to wait a few weeks for the refill but it may be worth a try :) Nico is still active (although really loud 90% of the time) but a stint maybe the solution in the long run for him. I guess the best bet for us is to stay positive!!

  • @nicoxxxable Nico, please read my updates...

  • I wish to God I could help you, my dog has the exact same problem only her cough is worse. I have to hold her and massage her throat just so she can have a break from her coughing fits. It's strange because my dog hasn't lost her appetite, she still acts normal she just coughs horribly while she does it. If you figure out what is wrong with your dog, please pass the info along. Hope all works out for you.

  • @WendyElizabeth HI Wendy! I am sorry that your little girl has this too. I am told she is not suffering, but it is hard to believe at times. Jasmine is playing, chewing on her bones, and her appetite is normal too...

  • this is never going to go away i have a yorkie and he has it too.....its called Collapsing Trachea Disease (disease means never go away) and i does not hurt them :) you could help it by getting certain medications from your vet and also in servere cases of this disease they have surgical treatments

  • @Kalchie13 Thank you for your comments

  • Well, if you think she is suffering the best thing to do would to have her put down so she won't suffer. :(

  • It is more than that fatbat56... I was told that she is not suffering. I have been given wonderful feedback/emails by posting this clip.. I would like to ask you something, without showing any disrespect, but have you or anyone you know ever suffer? Perhaps cancer or a heart attack and recovered from it or at least had the hopes to recover from suffering?

  • That is how I feel.... if there are answers out there that I am not aware of, I will try before resorting for the end result.... which is death. Today she is doing very well... maybe tomorrow it is a different story... One Day at a Time..

  • Well, if she is not suffering don't put her down. :( :( I'm really sorry for trying to help..... :'( And yes, 2 of my dogs suffered, and they had to be put down, my grandma and great grandpa suffered... I'm sorry........ :(

  • @fatbat56 oohhhh you took it the wrong way :-( ... I know you were trying to help and again, that is why I did not want to show any disrespect... I was just making an example of how I feel regarding Jasmine's condition. I know eventually CT will get worse, but in the meantime, she is still active, happy, eating, and going outside - not bad for a 13 year old. :-) Thank you for taking the time to care for my little girl!

  • Oh, whoops! hehe... ^^ I will do ANYTHING to help a dog, and you're very welcome. I'm glad she's very active and healthy

  • My yorkie has a collapsed trachea. He's 10 yrs old. He's had it about 1 yr. He usually will only have trouble if he's stressed. He's such a mama's boy! If his symptoms last for more than 10 min we give him Prednisone and Torbutrol. The Torbutrol relaxes him and calms his breathing. This really helps. We usually will continue the prednisone for a couple days to reduce any inflammation. I hope his helps.

  • @kgray811 We have had Jasmine on Prednisone for a while now... maybe three cycles of it. I do not see it working at all... The Vet adjusted the meds too. My Jasmine is a mama's girl too. Jasmine had CT for most of her adult life, but it is getting worse. THANK YOU so much for sharing your story with me!

  • @LimTwins Have you tried Torbutrol. This just relaxes Joey.

It seems as soon as he relaxes the symptoms stop.

  • @kgray811 No we haven't. As soon as she is finished with the cycle of meds, I will ask the Vet to prescribe what you said and see if that will work. THANK YOU SOooooo much for this information!

  • i hope she will be ok :(

  • @docbosley Thank you Jim! I am sorry about your loss over the holiday break too... I know how you feel....
