Darn fine, best Christian band of all time full stop!! One of their better albums with the first four tracks all being absolute gems - including this one! Better than most of what you've ever heard!
That thing at 1:23 is real, it's the Apollo Lunar Lander. Neil Armstrong almost got killed in one them while training for the Moon, he punched out just in time.
This guy is a genius. I had a friend give me the vox humana cassette in 91 or so...I was amazed at the hooks and songwriting...plus the originality. The production was very raw like a REALLY good home recording. i like the rawness. I really need more of this guys stuff...
Excellent! I've always liked this band, clever and interesting lyrics that didn't bonk you over the head with their 'spirituality', and engaging music. Very cool!
God I love the net...for some reason this song popped into my head...the last time I heard it was when a friend from high school gave me a tape with it back in...I don't know '87 '88 '89. So I google the main phrase, and in two seconds I have not only the tunes but a video to boot.
There's an episode of Who's The Boss? where Tony is running the vacuum by pulling the cord and then the camera pans over to Angela who is walking down the stairs. Timed almost perfectly to the 2 lines of "have a robot run the vacuum" and "Date a girl made out of wire" If I can find that episode, maybe I'll post it on here with the song
I just love everything about this song; such prophecy...:) Great song, nice video, and 1986 still Rocks! No things don't change that much, do they....
didn't they have a song called "Home Permananet"? my hair points toward the sky, the place I want to be, Home Permanent! can someone please post it? thanks and God Bless!
@samandersn G'day mate. The album Vox Humana contains the song "Home Permanent" and is available from Daniel Amos via their own web site. I recently purchased it and they sent it in the mail to Australia. It cost me about $20.00 Aust. I whole heartedly endorse ANY album by DA. They have taught me so much about God and Jesus and their music fills my heart with cheer and good will. Hey if you can not afford to buy it reply to this and I will gladly but it for you and send it to your church. Alex
It all of music, not just "Christian music", there have been very few talents like Terry Taylor. Over 400 songs written and almost all of them thoughtful and well crafted. Few writers can play and even fewer players can write. I just wish he would write more. 8-)
I miss Daniel Amos from the 80s. It was one of the coolest off-the-wall Christian bands ever! I think I owned more of their albums than anyone else. Great video, by the way.
It's the year 2008. Where's my tax return from 1980. That's what I wanna know.Ha Ha Ha! Forget rocket pack disappointment, how much have I paid in video fines? Oh my! What ever shall I say to St Peter at the gates of Heaven. How shall I face Jesus. Oh My? Please pray for me, alex leitch Perth W.Australia
One of my favorite songs and albums of my college years, though technically it was my roomate's album...listened to it a lot, & even took it to a party where we all attempted to dance to "Dance Stop!"
The video is awesome, and I love the song. Which movies were used, could you put the names in the description? Also, the liftoff scene was genius, matched the song very nicely (both in the timing and the "soul" of the whole lyrics).

The problem is not that DA plays to White Republicans - how is that different than playing to Black Democrats? It's not that DA's audience is suburban Whites - how is that different than secular rappers playing for urban Blacks? It's not that DA's audience goes to segregated, politicized churches, how is that different than secular rock bands that play to segregated liberals?
Don't you fake Christians have your own video site to post your stupid, provincial, White videos to? Isn't there a White Republican Jesus site you can post too? Leave us alone, we are sick of you defaming Jesus in front of the nations. Go back to your Masonic KKK Reagan rallies you antichrists. Go back to your "Christian Record Labels" and leave us alone.
Now I know why they have a "block user" option on Youtube. Somehow my DA videos are working like a flame drawing a moth like Norton. He can't stop himself from clicking the button to get to this page while trying to make it seem like I'm imposing something on him. If you don't like DA, don't listen to their music or videos. Besides that, you're spouting a bunch of nonsense that has nothing to do with "Rocket Packs".
Why even have commenting if you just block any comments that don't say how wonderful you are?
DA had some clever songs, but when it came to the major issues of their heyday - they did not deliver. Just some obscure, however poetic lyrics. Plus Blake - is that the role model you want? More time in paradise than on earth with his wife?
Call it GOP White Folk, just don't call it Christian - because there is a lot more Christian music than DA.
Is Terry Taylor a Republican? I never heard him talk about his political beliefs. And I don't think he can help it if he is white. You are sounding a lot like an ignorant rascist.
Who know? His fans are. What makes DA "Christian" and Dylan "secular"? Not the lyrics. Because DA is signed to a "Christian" company, Dylan to a "secular" company? The difference? "Christian" company sells to the subculture of Caucasian, Republican, Evangelical Christians. Parent won't let the kids buy CDs unless it's from an "approved Christian" company.
I'm a little confused. Are you upset with DA because they claimed to be Christian but had lyrics that were to vague to your liking, or because they were sold by record companies you didn't like? How do you feel about bands like P.O.D. or Switchfoot that are sold by secular companies? If it wasn't for the "Christian" part of this equation, would you like DA's music?
POD Switchfoot? I'm too old. Who decides at those record companies which bands are "Christian" enough and which aren't? Would Dylan be banned from Cornerstone?
If a Christian band on a Christian label were to write anti-war songs - would they get banned? Can you play anti-Iraq war songs at Cornerstone?
Just what is the definition of "Christian" in these cases? As far as I can tell it means white republican?
Lessee...Terri DeSario's song "I don't want to be a soldier" comes to mind, as does Larry Norman's "If the bombs fall". Just about everything by Rez Band. Quit being a lazy couch potato and get out there and see what's available. It's real easy to sit your couch lobbing insults. Trouble is, everyone else knows you for being a whiney loudmouth and a poser. You cast your brand of Christiandom in a bad light. Course, maybe that's your point, NortonYorksterdam.
NO Norton.. you are wrong and very hypocrtitical for that accusation.. do YOU KNOW terry taylor... he is christian becasue of his personal relationship with chrsit and his personal convictions...how about you get to know that MAN before you make such false accusations...his later music has always been a satire of neo-christian politics..a mockery of the machine... of course witch hunters just dont get that.
lastastronaut, OF COURSE I don't know Terry Taylor personally! He's a Rock Star that's how I know him. How do YOU know why he claims to be a Christian? Do YOU know him? I doubt I will ever be getting to know that MAN TT personally.
What accusation? That TT made his career selling records and concert tickets to White Republican churches? Everybody's gotta eat.
Aw what's the matter Daniel Amos/Terry Taylor? No "Christian" hits for the Iraq dead? Other than bomb "hits"? Nothing? Would that interfere with the "Christian" market for obscure barely "Christian" Cds? Did you get that contract with Wal-Mart Inc?
How did that Bar Code Beast Code work out for you "Christian Rock Band"? Huh?
Another best of Youtube film with music by the best rock/punk/new wave /country band ever. And VOX Humana is my favorite all time album and I have a Vox Humana website I wanna put this on....
