  • They didn't know COLREG

  • Brave Pilipino!

  • YES! ONLY RADAR can Help u.

But according to Traffic rules, in such cases both ships need to b informed abt ship speed....

this is jst due to bridge crew neglegence. they shud be monitoring da RADAR during heavy traffic.

  • @reachsavio Radar is a great help, you ar 100% right. But in Sigapore strait the lookout is even more importent as the ranges is extremly close and the radar calc drag a minute or two behind. The change of silhouette of the ship often becomes the first indication of a unexpected turn of another vessel.

After one year in Singapore strait (everyday with a cruise ship) I can say it is the most difficult place in the world to navigate ! (my quite well based opinion)

  • great escape

  • Captain sais no change course, So I no change course. :p

  • Great video! That was a very close call, and the title is perfectly correct.

  • @lpv1899 Actually, the Hapag Llloyd ship was the give way vessel, it does not go by size. A VLCC can very well be constrained by draft. There is an allowance in the rules that allows you to break the rules to avoid collision.

  • WOW...

  • Holy crap that WAS way too close!

  • who gave the ship to a MONKEY

  • grabe...YOU are the STAND ON VESSEL...siga ung kapitan niyan ah....malamang norwego...

  • tangna kse...ke laki ng dagat eh ng sisiksikan cla..

  • Filipino monkeeeey!!!!!!!)))

  • fuck you!!

  • nu to4no blya obeziyani!!!

  • normal lang mag mura sa ganyang experience... Astig galing ng kapitan....

  • Shaky camera!!!

  • buti na lang mabilis ung pag change ng course wag namang magmura....

  • The CPA was very very cipper.....

i'm a master and i say ever to my officer to keep a CPA not less than 1 mile (where is possibile)!!

  • The container ship was from the left, it was up to the tanker to stand clear.

  • GPS

By using radar and GPS can you calculate what the meeting will be.

    STOP calling this "collision".

In water with massic traffic must you relay on systems on board.....

  • this is not called as "collision" but it is a near miss. this happened when engine is 2 rpm over "Full" and crash astern also failed becos of high ahd momentum.

  • Yeah this was close, the tanker had to turn to port to avoid this when it should have been the container vessel keeping out of the way.

  • @voderick By using GPS??

GPS has nothing to do with that.

Only a radar will suite the job, and this is very close.

You obviously know nothing about ships.

  • @voderick actually the GPS is not needed to caluculate the CPA (closest point of approach)

CPA can be calculated manually or by an ARPA radar, the speed value should always be throw water which means its the log that should give you the speed and not the GPS.

Great video. Close as hell !

  • Me thinks a Junior Officer(or even a Cadet) was on the bridge of that box boat//Either way it could have ended in tears//--------------

  • really guys ur commentarys suck so much even kids dont act as childish as you!

  • Damn you Hapag-Lloyd!

  • Why didn't you just launch rocket into that container vessel? :)

  • come on guys, she is on roadsted :D

  • how moron that container ship is he didnt know the IMO rules??

  • bloody hell!

  • As George Carlin would say "thats not a near miss, its a near hit!" good video

  • More then 0,0 CPA What is problem ?

no seriously that was way to close.

  • thanks for Near miss , watch IS she over loaded , another near miss
