  • My two little brothers and me performed this song with some others for my father. It was the first time in years I saw him cry and he looked so proud. This song means a lot to me, we performed it that night not only for our dad but also for a great friend of our family who had died of cancer just two weeks earlier.

  • Clarence looks so happy here...

  • One of my all time favs from BRUCE- RIP CC- we love you. LDK

  • RIP Clarence cant replace him.

  • Look at The Big Man at 5:45, man is he having a ball. "RIP" Clarence we Miss You

  • I believe in the red, white and the BRUCE!!!!

  • Det här är för mig livsglädje. Om inte det här är KÄRLEK, så vad är?

  • ya estamos aaaqui¡¡¡ y ahora¡¡¡¡¡

  • IMO, this is Springsteen's most underrated song and one of his best.

  • It's this close to Gospel, I tell you.

Soulful. Beautiful. Everything you'd ever want in a song.

  • Land of Benefit cheaters and asylum seekers! Uk here I am

  • They play like they are on a mission from God. Their connection is astonishing. Love it.

  • Max on those drums!

  • SUPER

  • EVERY song this man sings contains 100% effort. That's what sets him apart from "the others"

  • just bloody brilliant

  • This song actually made me cry. i cant believe it.

  • Hard to find a talent like springsteen today, Its clear to see the likes of Justin Beiber using Bruce as an inspiration as both are able to relate to the working class and the troubles faced with society today... True music shall not be lost

  • @daw00026 Hahahahahaha! I do hopeyou're being ironic, but sometimes it's hard to tell with the rubbish some people talk on here. :-)

  • @jackHNv - Oh God, I remember writting this after a couple bottles of red wine and saying to my pal I wonder how much abuse I would get. But yeah I have great respect for the boss, as for Beiber... not so much :)

  • Rest In Peace Clarence Clemons

and may this train carry you home

    This concert is wonderful:)

  • @StillJamming Couldn't have put it better myself, they'll never be the same without him, brings a tear to my eye to think he's gone.

  • I was at this gig and halfway through this song i had tears in my eyes. Tears of gratitude for being there at what was, outside of my kids being born, the greatest night of my life.

  • I cried when I heard of CC's demise. This I listened to him here and elsewhere and know he lives on. Thanks you CC!

  • Sittin here drinking a beer jammin RIP CC

  • RIP Danny Federici and Clarence Clemons

  • The greatest saxophonist to kiss the reed. Meet ya in the land of hope and dreams Big Man..Cluski UK

  • Remembering Clarence tonight by the song I chose...this song by Bruce is just gorgeous and goes to any ESB fan...one last journey...we can be assured that those close to CC that he is in heaven now and in time, the pain of his passing will be eased by the fact that he is in the land of hopes and dreams and that is ok to cry...death takes a life but not a relationship. The chemistry between Bruce and Clarence was so special...we all have those memories. We miss you CC.

  • The goosebumps start at 3:30 Goodnight Clarence- the lungs behind The Boss

  • We don't know where you're going, but we know you won't be back... thank you for the many years of incredible, life affirming music Clarence.

  • For some reason Clarence's smile at 5:42 say's it all...take care, and thanks

  • Meet me in the land of hope and dreams,Clarence. Have a save trip home to Danny.RIP

  • R.I.P. Clarence Clemons - a true legend.

  • If you like bruce, Listen to Viktor Olsson - When we were young, here on youtube!

  • he still has IT and will til his last breath leaves his body... honest pure and straight from the bottom of his boots a rock n roll god

  • He still has it.

  • Well put, ILoveLucyE68NY!! I heard an interview with Clarence Clemons once where he pointed out that "Bruce is a genius". You're right about all the awards crap, but it just shows you what the people "in the know" really know.

And yes, this song is truly an artistic masterpiece. Time will demonstrate that.

  • I was unsure how i really felt about this song at first, until one day I had it on while going through a tough time. I got fired, and was in the process of relocating. And This song happened to play while my music was shuffling. That's when it hit me like a rock. God Bless this man, every one of his songs is a gem.

  • I get goose bumps hearing this song..awesome..

  • Fantastic song, Bruce is the USA's greatest living songwriter (but only because Neil Young's Canadian).

Every young band should watch this band to see how it should be done - AWESOME!

  • @jackHNv I'd agree, but I'm not comfortable leaving Dylan out of the mix..

  • Nice toon here too

  • Bruce Springsteen is the BEST ENTERTAINER of our time,, and he deserves a LifeTime Achievement Grammy award,,even though he still entertaining..lets recognize this enormous talent and thank God for giving him to our generation !!!! Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce

  • @ILoveLucyE68NY He deserves a Life Time Apology from the Grammy's. He's won a few, but the bigee, Best Record? Nope. You tell me what albums were etter tha Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The Rising, or Magic?

How could Girls in their Summer Clothes not get best song. This one, Land of hope and Dreams, was completely ingnored, and it's a masterpiece.

I saw him at the first Rising show a week after the 2002 Grammy's. He opened. "I'd like to thank absolutely fucking nobody."

  • @CPSJSMSUUMUGA I agree 100%

  • @ILoveLucyE68NY I think God gave him to our generation, sometimes I think to me (we're the same age). But I guess I think he transcends generations and nationalities.

He's a human treasure whose music will be around in a hundred years. I used to think the Beatles were magic- in-a-bottle that were a one a century phenomenon. Now I don't think we'll ever see that level of magic again.

I've come to feel the same way about Bruce. We'll never see anyone like him again.

  • Este señor hace bien las cosas

  • Has the energy of a religious revival!

  • I love this song!!!

  • its OK maybe ill listen gain

  • At 6:55 he looked like he could just break down and cry, now THATS emotion!

  • Anybody knows about lives in 2011 in Spain?:D

    Conciertos en España en 2011?

  • brutal es poco!!! fantastico bruce...sin palabras, siempre da una positividad extra.Viva el Boss!!

  • unbelievable

  • There's only one Bruce!

  • I wish I could find this place. Tomorrow there'll be sunshine. all the darkness past Maybe someday.

  • three people have neither "hope" or "dreams"

  • I´v seen springsteen 5 times and it´s been better and better each time,

What time is it : IT`S B-B-B-B-B-B BOSSTIME

  • BOSS ROCKS SOLID USA *

BLESS GOD BOSS & GOD BLESS YOUR SOUND *

  • As a person with cancer this song brings hope there will be sunshine tommorrow

  • @MrBow54 just stand up in your life fight and you will win ,My prayers will be with you from Croatia....

  • Sorry, I'm not on this train, and I live on a different planet you can never imagine of. I don't want to be on the train carrying bunch of mean people.

  • @carrywet When this train arrives, and it's coming, there will be room for everyone. *Everyone!!* Saints and Sinners Losers and Winners Whores and Gamblers Fools and Kings The Mean and the Nice. But one person's Saint is another's Sinner One's Loser? Another's Winner. On Bruce's Train, everyone will be welcome. What if someone thinks you're a loser? Who decides who will be welcome on yours? On Bruce's Train, no decisions needed. Ya don't need no ticket, ya just get on board.
  • @CPSJSMSUUMUGA That's a great response from you. I really appreciate it. Thanks, and, have a great holiday weekend with "Born in the USA."

  • I would board this train

  • marvellous.......

  • his music is like a good friend that helps you through the worst days of your life.

  • It just doesn't get any better than this man and his band.

  • from wich album is this song?????

  • @diderot555 Live In New York City

  • Needed this,,..NOW!

  • i was in hospital for 2 years v this song got me through it

  • can anyone tell me what his lyrics mean? :o

  • @XxXCherryzx This song is about hoping for a better future. Leaving behind something worse then where you are going. Its about making your life better. He is trying to get the message out in a subtle way about today's society. We all hope for better things for our futures. "Trust none of what you hear. Less of what you see." The world is crap. He knows it. He is just trying to let us all know in his own subtle way. He could turn into a Lennon and just let it all out but they'd probably off him

  • @tmaras64 98% agree. He isn't subtle. :)

  • @XxXCherryzx Land of Hope and Dreams is about the promise of America.

  • one of Bruce's best

  • today it was announced that Bruce will play in Croatia next summer :)) one of the happiest days in my life :)

  • it's like Jon Stewart said: "Bruce doesn't sing, he TESTIFIES!"

  • great Bruce ;-))

  • 9/23 = Happy Birthday Bruce!!!!!! You'll always be the Boss!!!!!!!

  • What an unbelievable musician and band, His songs will more than likely end up in text for future readings. One of the best artists that's walked God's blessed earth. Luv him

  • An insanely amazing song.... I am a lifelong Bruce disciple and this song went into my top 5 on the 3rd listen. I have seen it live in concert a couple times and like others have indicated, it is such an energetic and positive force. It is probably retired now, but thanks to YouTube, it will live for all to enjoy. :)

  • @1200Media

You know there's so many great songs,it's impossible to rate them.

But this one brings tears to my eyes

  • @1200Media What are other four?

I'll addr: Incident on 57th Street

    Backstreets

    Something in the Night

    Long Walk Home

Oh, and about 30 others that are otherworldly classics, and 50 more that are merely too GREAT to describe, and a hundred more that are better than anything by anyone else with the exception of perhaps McCartney, Dylan, Young, and Simon.

And at least a hundred more that would be the best song anyone else had ever written.

People don't have any idea all he's written.

  • GRANDEZA !!!! Una Bendición Única !!!! Mandenlo a todos sus amigos , a Toooodooos que lo escuchen . . es EL Mensaje . . VIVA el Jefe !!! =)

  • I'm only 17, but I think Bruce is the greatest rocker and songwriter ever to walk on this earth. Love you Bruce. And thank you.

  • @NoSurrender93

AMEN and wonderful taste you have.

  • BRUUUUUUUUUUCE!!!!!!!

  • I'm in my 50's and I've heard everything there is to hear since the early 1960's. This performance is the most perfect performance of the most perfect piece of music that has ever been written and performed live. The band must have known about halfway through. The house rockin', pants droppin', earth shockin', hard rockin', booty shakin', love makin', heart breakin', soul cryin'... and, yes, death defyin' legendary E Street Band. The best there will ever be.

  • F'n GREAT !!!!!!

  • Simply put, he's the greatest

  • Land of hope and Dreams..America! Peace and Love to Bruce and the band...President Obama will find a way...

  • I was there :-) saw him in Paris 2 days earlier with Badlands UK

  • I don't know how you could hear this and NOT feel it. One of his best songs hands down and he has lots of great tunes !!!

  • Superb song!!!!!!!

  • This is one of my favorite songs! Thanks for sharing!

  • A brill song!! meet him when i was a kid in dublin chipper he was

so cool bought as all some chips!!

  • REEEEEEEEEEEEEI !

  • bells of freedom

  • let the freedom ring!!!! hold it tight! Teniamoci stretta la nostra libertà di pensiero, di espressione, di parola, ecc. Non facciamocela portare via

  • @TheImpressionable Say what now?

  • Whatever drugs they might release - nothing brings you that high then the Boss.

  • @CobraMKII True that brother.

  • @CobraMKII

Shit! I'm dubbling up now then! Smoking a joint AND listening to Bruce at the same time....

    Do you think he'd mind?

  • UNBELIEVEABLE!!!

  • god bless Bruce.....amazing....

  • wonderfull sound

  • I think that no other band shows so much joy and happiness when performing on stage - just look at all them smiling and laughing, its magnificent!

  • To all of you that claim 6:20 is where they knew that nailed it, I beg to differ. Make sure you watch the reaction of the Big Man at 5:51, he is really feeling it at that point and knows they ripped it up!

  • They has and will never be anyone better than da BOSS

  • MAGICO !!

  • the piano on this song is amazing

  • Great song! Even better with the People Get Ready ending

  • Top 5 bruce songs for sure...love that sax when it comes in

  • Amazing song and performance ...chills

  • Gives me chills, Bruce is the Boss, Max is the man.

  • all aboard, no other musician can produce this kind of energy, Its incredible even on youtube, I cant even guess how it feels live, next tour nothing will stop me

  • @z3ko Been there 24 times and nothing like it!! It's the experience of a lifetime you must go, it's worth every penny and more! BRILLIANT <3

  • @warflynn

It really must be if you went 24 times :) I hope we both see bruce and the mighty e street band few more times <3

  • @z3ko We saw him last fall in Cleveland Ohio, and Bruce was amazing.........the energy and stamina he has is incredible. He was so nice and kind to all of his fans. He really knows how to relate to the crowd.

  • @z3ko It's impossible to describe what it's like to see him live. It's like the last ten second of an important sports event in which your team wins on a miracle, over, and over, and over for three hours. Better than the best drug - natural high. Better than sex (OK, better than some sex, and it lasts longer)

I feel alive. I feel lucky to be sharing time on earth. I leave *knowing* I've seen the best rock n' roll that's ever been or ever will be. I leave thanking God for Bruce Springsteen.

  • @CPSJSMSUUMUGA halleluaha brother!!!!!, i could not of said it better my friend!

  • @CPSJSMSUUMUGA I couldn't put it better. Well said

  • @z3ko John Landau was right in 1974 .... The Boss is the future of R 'n' Roll ... and the present .... and the past.

  • @z3ko You've got that right! I said the same thing before I saw him in 2009. And nothing stopped me! That summer, I saw him 3 times, in 1 months! Bruce is the closest Jesus you'll ever get!

  • @z3ko It feels fantastic!!!!!!!!!!! This was a great tour!

  • @wholelottahoopin Not bad. 120 sold-out shows for 3,000,000. I thought he was a has been?

And gee, I saw a few, Devils & Dust shows in 05, and they were OK. And a Seeger show in 06 and it wasn't awful. And a few Magic shows in 07 & 08. OK, too. Oh, & a handful of Dream shows in 09. Nearly three hours of intense r & r, song, song, song, with one bleeding into the next. Seemed acceptable. Reunion shows in 99 and 00 were decent, too. It's not possible that all his tours don't suck, is it?

  • I think I can personally account for 20,000 views. LOVE it

  • @jajones124 You can buy the entire show for $13 on Amazon. In 30 years of international touring, this Rising show, filmed in late summer 2002, and released on December 1, 2003, is the first full Bruce Springsteen concert released for sale. Nothing can duplicate live, but it does about as well as TV allows.

$13! CDs cost almost that much. If you have a widescreen TV and a good sound system, play this, as LOUD as she'll go. It's not live, but it's not bad. He plays one more after this.

  • I'm gonna board that train...don't stay away too long Bruce !!!!

  • I believe in the land of hopes and dreams. It is so true Faith will be rewarded and Love for others. Keep singing Bruce and may we meet someday because we believe the same. Little Princess

  • I litsen to this song, The Promised Land, Thunder Road, and Darkness when I'm down. It does a great job of making me happy again, or, if I'm just too damn far down, at least be at peace with feeling down. THE BOSS

    'Nuff Said.

  • peace

  • Larga vida a Bruce y la ESB¡

  • The mighty Max Weinberger.

A small drumkit, a non spectacular way of playing the drums, simple ritems, but what an effect he has on the band and the music. He can't be replaced, even not by his son who is not bad but plays different as i saw in Holland this year. Born to run didn't sound like it should be.

  • Is there a studio version of this song?

  • the garden, the boss, the big apple, thanks america and nyc for all the joy you have given the world

  • dont forget NEW JERSEY!!

  • god bless the garden state, new jersey!

  • leave behind your sorrows let this day be the last tomorrow there'll be sunshine and all this darkness past God allmighty I LOVE YOU BRUCE !!!!!!!.......

  • This song makes me always happy!

there is so much power behind it!

  • YEAH ROCKING!!!!

  • Amen....

  • e- street band , my hero,s!!!! foreverrrrrr

  • Becoming one of my favorite songs of all time...

  • Amen, simply means so be it. So yes, amen.

Thanks to Bruce for church out in the open fields where little love is.

Brothers and sisters... make ready, seek peace and pursue it. If you walk in it and give it, then if it somehow isn't received, it will always return back to you. It's a win win, okay? God is taking these few moments to smile on us, even through the darkness and terror. There is a place that remains eternal and love lives there. You can count on it.

  • "Say Amen somebody"

    Bruce is awsome :D

  • All just opinions, because people will argue stupidly against this, but what stops 10 people being part of the best band ever? I think The Boss has given us 25-30 reasons over his career to answer that question. Who else can say that?

  • 6:23 nuff said.

  • unesco monument

  • One of my favorite songs of all time. Its powerful to the point it almost brings me to tears.

  • People get ready... There's a train coming.

  • only Bruce

  • A truly moving 6 minutes, sung with power and commitment by the man in black.

Then, just when you think it's over, at 6:20 it simply moves up a notch.....an amazing atmosphere, you can see by the Boss's reaction that he knows he nailed it here. Yet he does exactly the same every time, each song he takes on becomes as if his very life depends on it. How does he do it?

Staggering...the guy really is worth all the accolades. And what a band......shaking my head in wondement at it all.......

  • You just said the words this needed. Thank you.

To me Bruce is the greatest of the greatest. I saw his gig at Tampere Ratinan Stadion 2th of June 2009 and I cried for the first time in 10 years. It was just my dream come true. I love him and his music.

  • I listen to this song every single day- gives me chills and tears each time. EVERYONE needs a land of hope and dreams. The song brings that little "light" to help you keep going no matter what life (or people) throw at you. I pray for every person in this world that feels like giving up. My prayers go out to your family "rugbymom75"....may your son and fiance find their land of hope and dreams soon.

  • Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. 9/11 would have been her daddy's 49th birthday. Everyday is such a struggle but I know with prayers from good people like you, I have faith that they will find their land of hope and dreams.

  • yes you right

  • If anybody needs a land of hope and dreams, it is my son and his fiance. Her father died without health or life insurance. Her childhood home is in foreclosure, they have no money, no place to go and they need all the hope they can get. She has a little sister too. Mom is ill. They need a miracle. Dad was an immigrant, who came here with nothing, worked two jobs and died with nothing. God Bless this poor family.

  • today we asked the living God to intervene.

please let us know when your miracle arrives.

we have never not known immediate and miraculous results.

the bible is clear, whosoever shall call on the name of jesus WILL be saved.

have no doubt, from the unexpected places he will deliver you.
