Is clicker training better or more affective ,I had a Quaker once but hes dead now .He was great he learned fast. .I trained him without clicker? So I just wanted to ask ok .....R.I.P Zazu!!!
@Fancifulgoddessanime In my opinion, the clicker has been VERY affective! I don't know if it's MORE affective than not using it, I'm trying to figure that out!
Im sorry about your Quaker. Bird do leanr fast, don't they! lol
I also wanted to say that you can click your tongue loudly to make a the sound and that works too and you don't have to use a clicker. I learned that from a training video for birds.
I did it a little diffrent... I like Clicked and gave him a treat for a couple of days (i have a parakeet named kuzco) and he seemed to understand that a click ment treat now im just trying to get him to touch the stick lol any ideas on how to get him to do it?
If he isn"t scared of it, then have him bite it at first, and he might get the concept...or another way is each time he gets CLOSER to the target, click and treat.
hhey ok my lineolated paraket is like really sweet but when i put my hand in her cage to bring her out at the bird shop she bites alot but once she's out shes all swweet and cuddly. why is that? Note: she is in the birdshop for now they are keeping her till sunday how to i train her not to bite plz help soon or my parents won't get her 4 me!!
Has something, ANYTHING changed in his environment? Did someone accidentally hit him, that you know of? Does he take treats still? Well, I hope things get better.

im using a pen as a clicker . is that ok?

That is fine! Anything that makes a sound the bird isn't used to, will be perfect.

Your bird is smarter then mine lol

Nah...all birds are smart! You just gotta do it at their pace, and with their fave treat, and you should be ok!

I did this last night and he totally ignored me lol Ill keep it up though. I probably need more conditioning with a clicker.
I dont think he fully realizes a click means treat.
