I think that the lutz story was true but the facts were embelished to make it more interesting.I dont think the house is haunted anymore.As a catholic myself i think there is some evil in this world that is not human......

I live like a town or two over from Amityville & my mother works in that town.
One day my family was bored so we drove to Amityville & saw the house. It's really nice actually. My sister took photos of it on her camera, and when we got home we looked at them and saw shadows of people in doorways and windows, the creepy part? In the photos the windows and doors with the shadows were open, when we were physically in front of the house they were closed.

yeah I can't explain either, my only guess is that they moved in to a very slightly haunted house, used a Ouija board to make it a little more intense and made a big deal out of nothing, left the home to make money in books and movies and there 15 minutes of fame. As for the gun, maybe a homemade silencer. They were found on there stomachs, maybe he turned them over, so many things he could have done. I LOVE anything paranormal. 3 things i want to say 1.True! there was a family slaughtered in this house by the oldest son and 2. People live there, always have. I grew up in Amityville, on Hamilton st. Around the corner. Was 5 when it happened. He killed them cuz he was addicted to drugs, for money. The lutzes did return for their stuff, me and my young friends saw this. In a uhaul..took their motorcycle, furniture..and the neighbors did hear the shots. The irelands who live next door, and are friends of mine..did indeed hear the shots. The whole story is fake..no burial grounds, no witches..nothing.

Well, is there someone living there now? Are they experiencing anything strange? Or has the house been abandoned for all this time. Pictures that I assume are recent appear to show that the house is in fine shape, so I assume that someone is taking care of it. Why doesn't someone ask these questions and find out what the answers are.

Yeah, I agree that Defeo is pretty messed up but I think the house was demonic too. Has anyone heard of a new book called, "220 Fifth Street"? I read the book and it is probably scarier than Amityville and it is true. A couple of my friends read it too and couldn't sleep afterwards!

Judging by Defeo's interview and his background, it is ovbious that he was messed up from his mind. He doesn't seem like he knows the horrible thing he did, he seems like he lives in his own bubble, he speaks like if he did something normal. Plus he was a drug addict and people under the influence don't know what the heck are they doing. He killed his family because he was high and to add to that, he was mental ill. And the Lutz fam. needed money so they knew they could get it by telling lies.
I have to agree that it doesn't make sense for them all to be found dead in the same position and for none of them to hear the gun shots. I mean I've slept through people shooting outside a few times but shootings in your home? No way. I'm curious about the girlfriend and his buddy that went with him. You go run to your buddies before calling the cops in this situation? hmm....
There's a big explanation for everything. One possibility the family didn't react to the Gunshots was because they were drugged, and just because it showed negative doesn't mean nothing. A lot of Tox screens flawed back then and still do to this day. The Lutz's afterwards made created a HOAX for fame which they got through a book and film, and got money. It was definitely smart of their behalf. Ironically no one had any problems of the paranormal after The Lutz's in the house.

No drugs found in the bloodstream? How many drugs didn't show up on a tox screen back then? It's not that hard to believe that the family was drugged, and nobody knows what the drug was. Even now there are a lot of drugs that don't show on tox screens.
Only one person was actually asleep when shot. The coroner went over this stuff. Most people were awake and shaking in their beds. He had a shotgun. It's easy to control little kids when they are scared and you have a a shotgun.

My friends & I went to Amityville to see the house a couple of days before Halloween. We found the house after some difficulty bc the front of the home looks completely different. My friend thought it would be funny to run up to the lawn & grab a tuft of grass. When he was running back to the car as he bent down to open the door we all saw someone standing behind him, a man with a blue work shirt and jeans. We screamed, my friend spun around and there was noone there. We were not nigh or nuts.
The people who bought the house from the "haunted" family didn't believe in ghosts, and they never saw any ghosts either. It was all in the former owners' minds or just a hoax for publicity or whatever reason. : )
Yes, it's a very nice town. There are some much larger, scarier looking Victorian houses in the neighborhood. But it just wasn't just Americans. In the 1970's you could find nuns who had flown in from Holland crying on the lawn of the house after that movie!! A lot of Europeans came because they believed the Devil lived in the house. Of course, the two owners after have had no problems at all with ghosts.

The coroner's report at the time addresses that.No one was actually shot face down accept the two younger boys.If you can get a hold of pics of the white headboards from three rooms, you will notice there is no blood spatter (odd).The covers have also been pulled up almost over the heads.The two young boys were most likely ordered on their stomachs by their gun toting brother.Both are clutching the bedspreads in rigamortis.You can grab onto something like that before shot not after.

People live there, always have. I grew up in Amityville, on Hamilton st. Around the corner. Was 5 when it happened. He killed them cuz he was addicted to drugs, for money. The lutzes did return for their stuff, me and my young friends saw this. In a uhaul..took their motorcycle, furniture..and the neighbors did hear the shots. The irelands who live next door, and are friends of mine..did indeed hear the shots. The whole story is fake..no burial grounds, no witches..nothing.

Judging by Defeo's interview and his background, it is ovbious that he was messed up from his mind. He doesn't seem like he knows the horrible thing he did, he seems like he lives in his own bubble, he speaks like if he did something normal. There's a big explanation for everything. One possibility the family didn't react to the Gunshots was because they were drugged, and just because it showed negative doesn't mean nothing. A lot of Tox screens flawed back then and still do to this day. The Lutz's afterwards made created a HOAX for fame which they got through a book and film, and got money. It was definitely smart of their behalf. Ironically no one had any problems of the paranormal after The Lutz's in the house.

My friends & I went to Amityville to see the house a couple of days before Halloween. We found the house after some difficulty bc the front of the home looks completely different. My friend thought it would be funny to run up to the lawn & grab a tuft of grass. When he was running back to the car as he bent down to open the door we all saw someone standing behind him, a man with a blue work shirt and jeans. We screamed, my friend spun around and there was noone there. We were not nigh or nuts.

Yes, it's a very nice town. There are some much larger, scarier looking Victorian houses in the neighborhood. But it just wasn't just Americans. In the 1970's you could find nuns who had flown in from Holland crying on the lawn of the house after that movie!! A lot of Europeans came because they believed the Devil lived in the house. Of course, the two owners after have had no problems at all with ghosts.
Ronnie was just a real bad kid. No ghosts, just a very disturbed kid.

I wish the new owner's would not have changed out those spooky eye-looking windows on the third floor. The coroner's report at the time addresses that.No one was actually shot face down accept the two younger boys.If you can get a hold of pics of the white headboards from three rooms, you will notice there is no blood spatter (odd).The covers have also been pulled up almost over the heads.The two young boys were most likely ordered on their stomachs by their gun toting brother.Both are clutching the bedspreads in rigamortis.You can grab onto something like that before shot not after.

@gswoloszyn....ummm, I ALMOST thought to myself: Is this youtuber getting a bit more bent out of shape than necessary over a random comment?....but then I agreed with myself that said over-exuberant youtuber is just probably a complete idiot with a drinking problem and it might be best to debate with folks who aren't consuming a 12 pack while posting comments.
