they lost their edge a while ago, i started to lower my standards since stadium arcadium... I used to dig every second of each track of their early albums, now i'll be glad enough if some of the new songs would be exciting. I still like 'em and i guess it's better to have them around, but i've been waiting to hear another really bonecrushing mayhem kinda thing from them, and i lost my faith a bit. Going to see them live though, they still know how to put up a good show :)

@added23 yeah, each one of the more recent albums had their hot minutes too, but no rocket bombs like on the ones you mentioned. Some of the new tracks sound promising and really funky and others punky straightforward, but i'm afraid of how they might sound on the album (like hump de bump and storm in a teacup both sounded too smooth for me on the album, while they did have some of the early rhcp quality as well)

look around, goodbye hooray and meet me at the corner sound like great songs, and sound different than SA but their older stuff had this raw unbridled feeling to it

monarchy of roses too... :) so, i lost my faith only a bit :) been following them half my life and still WANT to believe the'll make me feel 16 again, even though i know that won't happen

it sounds good but not like woooooowwwww, ... so yeah they lost their edge but imo still sound better than most bands on their level (too bad raw and unbridled doesn't match with 'mainstream')

@wimkerkhof maybe you should visit the factory of faith. na i know what you mean. it sucks that chili peppers now care about being mainstream. raindance maggie is clearly a mainstream single but i wish they would just do whatever the fuck they wanted to, like they used to. but theyre older now and theyve changed

@added23 yep i forgot to mention that one, although it sounded more like a jam to me. I really hope stuff like that will be on the album though. About them getting older: i wish i could have seen them in the hillel or early john era. Around that time they really knew how to throw a party, and i also miss the silliness on stage, the crazy energy, flea's mohawk and his teddy trousers, the interaction between flea and antwan... :)

@MagikPepperPlan81 i think you need to listen to purple stain again. its 4/4 and the same tempo, but none of the instrumentals sound alike, neither does his rapping really. same style but he ascents at different times
