personally, as a devout muslim, i KNOW that homosexuality is a sin, however, u can be a practicing muslim and still be gay, just as you can be a muslim and be a murder. both acts according to islam are forbidden, yet ppl still sin. only God can judge!

That's quite interesting as a non-theist i KNOW that homosexuality is not a 'sin'. Interesting that two people can know the opposite of one and other. Being of a faith does not give you authority of knowledge. Being a 'devout Muslim' does not give you extra knowledge for being extra devout, least not last time I checked. Are you sure it is Islam that bans homosexuality or is it men at the top who fancy a bit of power over a minority group.

altho you may not agree, that does not mean another non-theist has similar beliefs as you. however, the difference here is that every Muslim SHOULD believe homosexuality is a sin because thats what it says so in the Quran- refer to any Abrahamic religion, they ALL contain similar verses suggesting that it is a sin

(tail end of comment i made below) You cannot kill and yet many people of different faiths do.Killing in the name of a god is not the less killing (in reference to the beheading, beatings and other state granted murder of gay people).

also, i have no idea what killing in the name of God has to do with anythng. i didnt make any comment abt killing, nor am i arguing abt religion, but abt homosexuality in respect to Islam. the director, parvez sharma has made a movie called Jihad for love, promoting the occurence of homosexuality amongst muslims. i am simply stating the muslim perspective and that it is forbidden, who is he to judge and change the religious law. i'm not debating the legitamacy of any religion, or of killing.

But none the less people who are homosexual are killed in the name of 'Islam' because they are gay. That was my point, though I do not understand why this is since I was told that Islam is a peaceful religion, cultural thing maybe? I might also add that the original Christian bible did not say anything against homosexuality. That was added in later, with the exception of Leviticus which Paul basically said was a bit of a nutter ignore him.

there was mention of a group of people who were sinful correct, does it say what there sin was? No, but being general gits and murderers would have been more likely. Even if homosexuality is 'sinful' in the eyes of people who are muslim, why are they taking it upon themselves to stop a harmless practise? You cannot make anyone homosexual and it cannot be 'caught' (it is not a disease), why not leave Allah to judge since he is the only one who can?

Regarding Islam, there r two verses:

We also (sent) Lut: He said to his people: "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women : ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." (7:80-81)

As I stated in my first post, I agree with you, we have no right to punish Muslims who transgress against Islam, only God can judge. However, that doesnt mean I cannot say that its wrong. Just as suicide is forbidden in Islam, yet we hear abt Muslims killing themselves in suicide bombing. These ppl will be punished by God just as gays will.

These folks are not asking for forgiveness. Time to get over this drama on sin and focus on how we can live together! If someone chooses to make love with someone, of the same sex & worship some god, more power to them, if that is what makes them happy.

That's the problem, dude. If you don't realize it's wrong, you can't go to heaven. Yes, let's live together, accept everyone for who they are, and stop punishing them for who they are. As an American, I am all for liberty; as a Christ follower, I am against homosexuality. What about someone who gets happy when they play with little kids' "parts"... Michael Jackson for example. Do we give him a congratulatory medal for being happy? No! We should punish him. He is morally inept.

That's the problem, people laying claim to what is right and wrong & what they believe grants access to this thing called Heaven. The statements you made are the exact reason why the framers of our constitution were focused upon separating church from state. For me, the spirit of the lord is spread upon the earth, but men do not see it. Heaven and hell are not somewhere else but right here and now! Yes, it does. God classifies both as "sexual immorality". The Bible is full of facts, I am simply referring to one of them. Your statement is based on feelings, since ALL facts point to the conclusion that homo- is unnatural.

In regard Micheal Jackson it has been shown that through the use of critical reason, factual evidence and scientific methods of inquiry, (rather than faith and mysticism)folks like him,have very real issues & should seek counseling and support, not punishment. Can't we move beyond this tired-out punishment and redemption? its very quite clear on homosexuality in islam. no matter how you try to justify it the term gay muslim is an oxymoron. its unnatural and no religion accepts it.

i mean adultry is not allowed in islam and there is no saying on how one can marry someone of the same sex so how does that even work out?

Sounds like there are Homosexual folk who have no issue reconciling this. As for it being natural, Homosexual activity is not limited to Homo Sapiens. A number of Native American tribal religions had a special, respected status for Two Spirt "Gay" people. The argument that the holy book is the word of god is questionable. Let's be real the Holy Book is an attempt to interpret the word of god. A quick historical reading will quickly show the holy book went through human many edits.
