As a man who has only dated transgendered m2f people for over a decade and has no interest in anyone else. I found it much more difficult dating transsexuals. As a private quite shy person I found the constant attention both good and bad too much to handle and now only date transvestites and crossdressers. What Darlene says is true. People are so into labels (gay, straight, bi, etc.) that they don't think about just loving and appreciating someone as a PERSON first.

Darlene your story has truly touched my life and taught me to be a more accepting person. deep down we all want and need the same thing,love. i know what it feels like to come from a culture where parents wont accept you because you are different. you show me that you can still be a strong woman , even if you have pain. dont feel ashamed of who you are ever, the greatest gift you can give to yourself is to love your self . embrace the present for and peace will come. a mothers love is forever.
Perhaps the judges didn't count a transvesite as being a valid participant though I am sure they took all the fees and such Gavin paid. As for Darlene, keep the faith darling. You're beautiful inside and out, and he's out there for you - ALL of you! oxoxo
that's what we transgender individuals should do...support each other... watched your doc couple of years back on british tv(channel 4 if not mistaken)...and i thought you were brave....unfortunately i thought the documentary was more focused on the british guy entering the competition.....happy new year love.... all the best lovin
