Would i use the keyboard as a controller, or would i have to get a controller? If so, what type of controller would i have to get?
You don't NEED a controller, but you can. I'm using a keyboard in these videos, and it works pretty well for a game like Spyro. If you want to use a controller, you'll either have to use a computer compatible one or an adapter for your own console controller.

And the technique you're talking about is most likely the "double jump". I've been aware of it for a while now. It can be very tempermental, so if it DOES fail (which it often does depending on the situation), then it's a step backwards. I prefer the standard jump-glide-hover since it's more controlled. I hate using the double jump unless I'm doing glitches and short cuts.

Ya, me too. The game is so much harder than the previous ones. The Agent 9 challenge at the Fireworks Factory kills me every time. I've lost my touch with first-person shooters, so I tend to take a few shots and run away screaming "FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!". With that method, it takes me roughly an hour to beat, with or without the machine gun.

I actually manage to do that first try sometimes 0__0. Sometimes it takes me more because I forget the green dino in the back (for the skill point and health). Once you memorize, it isn't too bad. The tomb one isn't bad...as long as you keep randomly shooting like a madwoman.
Well, between Spyro and that camera. Something that all 3 games share is that they have the same awful camera. The one in Magma Cone where I fell off a bridge was caused by it. Handling the controls when you're not behind Spyro is hard (plus when I fell, I couldn't see where I could glide without getting roasted).
After I died, I answered her IM and bitched LOL. I think once when I was doing the Skelos Badlands, she (or Kyra) IMed me and the AIM window was on top (so I lost control of the game)

I've played a bit of the newer games (Eternal Night on Wii), and I FAIL at it 0__0. It's too hard for me to get through too much (the original trilogy is more straight forward as far as controls go though). The games are ok, though it's not Spyro to me. Plot is decent though.
I failed at ANB and EN, too. xDDD Took me forever to beat them, and made me REALLY appreciate the original's basic controls. Lol! But DOTD is a lot easier.

Instead of just gliding and hovering (and dying) the hard way, just
Charge until u get to the cliff,
Jump (hold square and X at same time)
and Glide! You almost NEVER have to hover and you go MUCH farther.

Yay, Spyro! 8D I think I played this game once..years ago..heh. I have to find a GameStop here now and buy this. Looks a lot better than the newer Spyro games anyways. *Shrug* (I might not actually fail at Ripto's Rage, whoo!)

I've played a bit of the newer games (Eternal Night on Wii), and I FAIL at it 0__0. It's too hard for me to get through too much (the original trilogy is more straight forward as far as controls go though). The games are ok, though it's not Spyro to me. Plot is decent though.

Lol, me too. That black dragon slaughtered me. 0-0 I might have to try and beat her again..then abruptly die trying, lol.

I failed at ANB and EN, too. xDDD Took me forever to beat them, and made me REALLY appreciate the original's basic controls. Lol! But DOTD is a lot easier.
