My bunny just started doing this. We went to the vet and he had a CT Scan (my husband never thought he'd pay for a CT scan on a rabbit). My husband thought Herbie was terminal, but he's eating well, moving stuff around his cage and stomping when I make him mad (in sort, same old lovable grumpy bunny).
@JenHWoods Did they decide what was wrong? My sometimes grumpy ole man rabbit is 9 years 3 1/2 months now. That's very old for a Netherland Dwarf. He still hopping around, doing his own thing, and ruling the household with his commands! :)
@tamtom316 They said it was some ear canal blockage (I think) They did surgery to prevent any more serious damage. I don't think it will help the head tilt. They offered some experimental surgery that MIGHT correct the tilt, but it's experimental and expensive. Herbie's an 8 year old mini-lop (we think - he's a 3rd hand rabbit that we've had since he was about 4.5). He seems to be adapting although he still falls over sometimes. He's eating well.
@maiksnippe He has been to the animal doctor (vet) many times- hence the antibiotics and other medications he was on at the time of this video. He's over the infection now and a happy healthy hippity, hoppy bunny- just a little head tilted.
please help me my bunny has the same thing not quite as bad yet but its close. He's been on antibiotics since sunday and they havnt helped at all in fact he has gotton worse. the vet checked his ears and said they looked fine. the vets where i live aren't very knowledgeable about rabbits. She thinks my rabbit has something similar to cerbal paulbsly only in rabbit forrm? i think she is wrong cause he only gotton worse, on sunday it was barely noticable now hes as bad as this bunny Thunder
@mmmightyfine It most definitely has head tilt. Its a INNER ear infection, so you cannot see it without a CT scan. If possible find the nearest rabbit savy vet, even if its hours away, and get there as soon as possible. Head tilt is terminal if not treated in time.
And rabbits don't get cerebral Paulbsly, so it can't be that.
I think you should see a vet because your bunny has "wry neck" which is caused by an ear infection. my bunny is a Polish Dwarf and she has it only not as bad and i need to see a vet....
@justnicole14 I'm not sure if you were talking to me? Thunder has been to the vet many times. The vet is what saved his life. He is my 'expensive' rabbit with all the bills we racked up. I love my bun that much. He is happy inspite of the tilt. He runs, hops, climbs on me and demands attention. He is a character.
oh WOW that must have been one bad infection at one point. I'm glad you got him as well as you could and he's still so happy and hoppy! He's really adorable!
@predicttheday It is still just as bad but he moves around much better. He can lift his head up straight but he can't hold it straight. It doesn't seem to bother him. He does most anything he wants- including climbing all over me! He likes to hop around and scatter his toys. :)
Glad to see him working through it. He seems to be handling it much better now. Ripley is doing well in dealing with his and is able to run and play now. Thanks for not giving up!
i feel so sad seeing rabbit suffer that, my bunny also having head tilt problem, but i found out early. Now she can't stand balance, i already feel horrible for her. You are right, never give up hope because that is always got solutions to cure it.

@predicttheday Thank you. He is still alive and a very happy bunny. :)

@tamtom316 Is his head tilt still as bad? I think some rabbits can "reverse" their tilt when they get better.
