I can play guitar, piano, drums and bass, but I can't yet play beatmania IIDX in Double 'cept for level 2 songs at most. And, well, I'm not saying that all instruments are easier to play than the game, but to be honest, in my opinion MENDES Black Another, the arguably hardest chart in the game, is harder to play in the game than on a real piano. It'd take you years to be able to clear this song.

I would love to play more iidx, unfortunately, the only beatmania machine that I know of is a twelve hour drive away in Brisbane (i live in canberra). There is probably one somewhere in sydney as well, but that is still too far for a game.

One of the local arcades here has DDR, that Ouendan type arcade game, drumania and at least one other rythm game, but no beatmania.

Hopefuly there will be one when the one being refurbished reopens.

@Usagi1992 Granted, he screwed up in the end to the point of not being able to recover. If you notice, he wasn't trying to get a 100% completion. Also, the red part on the bar was a passing point of sorts, so he wasn't even able to pass the song, much less get a great complition rate. Wouldn't it be frustrating to you to go through a long and hard level of a game, no save points, only to be mowed down by a boss, then having to start over the whole thing? That's about what happened here.

@girlwithafunnyhat11 Yeah, the weird thing about beatmania is that clearing (passing or failing a song) and scoring (your "grade" based on timing) are completely unrelated. You can fail a song with a AAA (the highest grade) or pass a song with an F (even with a full combo, that's possible).

With the way the lifebar ("groove gauge") works in the normal mode of play, you can hit every note in a song with perfect timing up until the end, fall asleep and miss the last four notes, and you'll fail.
