  • Not to be an ass, but e. coli is bacteria, not a virus.

  • 3:02 "I believe in God". LOL

  • im pretty sure turkey was called the ottoman empire in the 12th century. But Bill is still awesome!!

  • @kyle20120 12th century turkey is the Ottoman empire...it can be said that way, accurately.

  • Ironically, the early Christians were very Cynical, in the most archaic meaning of the term. They wouldn't have worn jewelery.

  • i don't know why, but this guy just keeps gettin better with age. this stuff from some 10 odd years ago was good, especially compared to his stuff from the 80s, which seemed nearly boring in comparison, but he seems to have gotten better again in "but i'm not wrong".

he's really "evolved" with the times, he never seems "old". getting older doesn't have to equal getting less cool, somehow makes more optimistic about aging!

  • lol, if anyone asked me who "twiggy" was, i'd have said it sounds like some southpark character i must have missed^^ "twiggy, the stick-thin talking twig addicted to heroine"^^

  • Please don't compare God to Ben Cartwright. All Ben's kids turned out to be wonderfull people. The majority of God's kids are assholes.

  • Stevie Johnson....

  • he makes me feel sane for once..

  • Did I just hear Bill Maher say "I believe in God."?!?! 3:00

  • @mrsoxfan33 Huhm... He's an apostate? Or it's bullshoy.

  • @mrsoxfan33 Yes! Very weird to hear that. Things have changed :)

  • @mrsoxfan33 From my experience, most atheists who were once Catholics/Christians went through a Deist phase. I went through the same thing, so I can relate.

  • @Kith000 same

  • @mrsoxfan33 i heard that

  • Pro death penalty, proIsrael, believing in god... So, who's the BRIGHT? I like most of Bill's stuff, but how can he call himself bright with set of such thigns?

  • @DUMBNWO for many reasons but its too early for a religious disscussion haha

  • i love...love...LOVE him esp on the religon part! leave Jesus alone wheather you believe in him or not dude trying to chill(:

  • @LadyLoveOdora jesus is a sick fuck why do you like him?

  • Bill was mild back in the day...

  • @faithisfiction yeah lol iam preaty sure now hes at least semi atheist idk lol have you seen religulous?

  • WTF! Twiggy was beautiful!

  • Then, of course, they introduced the 'Divorce Barby'. She came with all of Ken's stuff.

  • A prick and a square eh? Square and compass anyone?

  • Who the fuck is Corey Vidal?

  • Hm. I can't find myself loving this guys comedy. He's just not... Funny. He has a few good points, but his humor is lacking, well, humor.

  • This was recorded in 2000 so he was probably still "deconstructing" his brain from religion to atheism at that time. The decision to become atheist involves a lot of re-wiring in your brain. You have to focus on it and try to avoid reverting to your basic, church-driven programming. If anything, atheism makes you more aware of your personal accountability and your personal worth within your community.

  • Didn't know Bill Maher believed in God...

  • @JayVexVideo he used to, he was agnostic at the point of this video, now he's an atheist

  • The pet analogy was genious

  • Stop stealing George Carlins jokes!

  • "Ken comes separately." --- Bill Maher

    LOL

  • huh, i always thought Bill Maher was an atheist ???,, but from this video i get the idea he actually believes in god , confused ~_~

  • @AlecTheConfused pretty sure he was lying, or just changed a lot since then, hell he even made an atheist movie a few years ago

  • My jew friend said he wanted to learn about atheists. I sent him this video. =]

  • e. coli's not a virus-couldn't help but coment

    great vid btw!

  • looks like 9 catholics watched this video

  • everything and nothing are god

  • i respect him for taking that cross joke in a different direction instead of ripping off Hicks. he easily could have.

  • I think sex on christmas would be the perfect gift. Bill's the shit.

  • @southparkresident

"I think sex on christmas would be the perfect gift. Bill's the shit."

...You're not fooling anybody; you just don't want to buy something. Cheap-ass.

  • @jimbrown257 Oh my god you're right. You've boliled my whole life down by reading one sentence I wrote. I guess sentimental gifts that don't cost anything and come from the heart don't mean as much as a material object to you. I think Bill Maher's too smart for you. You're watching the wrong channel.

  • @southparkresident

"I think Bill Maher's too smart for you. You're watching the wrong channel."

...So let me see if I understand this correctly; you read this response of mine to your OP, "You're not fooling anybody; you just don't want to buy something. Cheap-ass" and, not only did you not realize it was a joke, you also thought it was, joke or not, some attempt to "boil (your) whole life down by reading one sentence I wrote."?

Or am I missing something; is your response a joke too?

  • @jimbrown257 I did figure you might've been joking. I also meant recieving sex not giving it. We're talkng about sex alot this is kinda weird.

  • @southparkresident I would be chuffed with sex on xmas, or any day for that matter

  • " You thought that was Shit on your car" LOL. this guy i s awesome.

  • Bill it's not the Bureaucracy, it's the Hierarchy!

  • e.coli virus? I thought e.coli was a bacterial strain...

    oh well LOVE YOU BILL.

  • wow its crazy how much bill has changed........always have been a fan,

  • This is TOO GOOD!!

  • He took the evolution trial stuff from lewis black's show Red White And Screwed.

It's to bad coz I really like all his stuff.

  • An Agnostic is a person that can't decide whither a square is a square or a circle is a circle. You're either a theist, an atheist, or a jackass.

  • @TrustKovacss You are a true fucking moron, we don't pretend to have knowledge that nobody in this world has, it's the most honest way to approach the situation, jump off a cliff.

  • Kansas is stupid as FUCK. cant wait to leave

  • E.Coli virus?

  • I just think it's interesting that he claims he can't know Christ, but he knows better than Christians do what God's thinking. I don't think anyone's right or wrong. People make up their own minds about God and religion and that whole bag...Bill Maher doesn't know any better than the rest of us. If you don't want religion to win, don't preach your own.

  • "ken 'comes' separately". he he.

agnostic? wtf is that? either you believe the earth is about five thousand years old, or you believe it's about 5 billions years old. either you believe dinosaurs were here about 65 millions years ago, or you believe the extensive evolutionary fossil record was put here to "test our faith". i guess it's like the talking snake and the apple, two gods vs. two humans. either you believe that ridiculous shit or you don't.

  • @tomitstube Your getting confused with what the Bible says, and what people say the Bible says. You dont have to be a christian to know that. Stop saying you have all the proof in the world to say God definatly dosent exist. Im not christian but Im not as arragont enough to say there is solid evidence either way. Stop taking yourself seriously and believe whatever you want to belive whilst letting others do the same.

  • @borednerd74 ~ and you're brain washed. there is a mountain of evidence that "evolution" IS FACT. EVOLUTION IS PROVEN FACT. you're an example of what christian dogma produces, an ignorant citizen. the bible is a load of contradictory crap that is nothing more than archaic fables. it preaches incest, pedophilia, slavery, misogyny, and homophobia. it makes a good door stop.

and it isn't being "arrogant", it's called having a brain and not turning it off for a superstitious "belief".

  • @tomitstubeI am not a christian, im agnostic . I do believe there is eveloition and the world is much older some would have us believe, but I think there is no point in saying there is no higher being or things we do not understand about the world when there is still so much we cant explain wheather it is christian belief or like my Dad Muslim belief. Steven Hawking, a man of science beyond comprehension of many people, still believes in God. All Im saying is, you shouldnt scorn peoples belief.

  • @borednerd74 ~ stephen hawking does not believe in god. he describes himself as a non-theist and said "there is no place for a creator". they tried the same crap with darwin and einstein.

let me help you out, evolution is in stark contradiction with western religions. it makes a mockery of creation. i am so tired of theists "evolving" their beliefs to fit the latest scientific evidence. either you believe the nonsense in the holy books are the word of god or you don't. it's that simple.

  • @tomitstube I stand corrected that he is not religious but he is an agnostic. Just dont scorn other people about there beliefs over the internet. Dont tell me your helping me out as if even considering these ideas of peace and love is a bad thing. The majority of these people are trying to help people in there life. So dont say things like " you're brain washed". Philosophize. There is no knowing the true nature of our reality wheather it is scientific, spiritual or anything else.

  • @borednerd74 ~ you seem to think religion makes you a better person. got proof of that?

  • @tomitstubeWhen you get past the basic ceremonial crap, the messages of how to live your life can make you a better person. Im not saying just because your religious that makes you good but even if believe that gays are wrong and your christian, it dosent matter because christians are ment to be forgiving and help people with compasion. I know that some people sadly do abuse their religion. But you avoiding my point that you shouldnt scorn peoples beliefs, whatever you believe personally.

  • @tomitstubeWhen you get past the basic ceremonial crap, the messages of how to live your life can make you a better person. Im not saying just because your religious that makes you good but even if you believe that gays are wrong and your christian, it dosent matter because christians are ment to be forgiving and help people with compasion. I know that some people sadly do abuse their religion. But you avoiding my point that you shouldnt scorn peoples beliefs, whatever you believe personally.

  • @borednerd74 ~ then that makes you a good person. idk what that has to do with your religion. gays are not "wrong". period. and many christian churches preach this nonsense. being gay is as natural as having red hair, it's in our genes. my problem with religion is this disconnect with scientific reality. sure, you can preach goodness and treat others... etc. but virtue was around before christianity.

  • @tomitstube Did I say religion came before virtue? No, I said its an influence and BTW "My religion"? For the last time, im agnostic and for the last time, your avoiding my point that you shouldnt scorn people about there religions. Either come up with an answer to that or a point I havent already answered in most of my messages so far.

  • @borednerd74 ~ idk what you specifically mean by "scorn religion". sounds biblical. and again, idk what agnostic is either. either you believe the earth is 4.6 billion years old and we evolved from lower species, or you believe the earth is 10,000 years old, snakes can talk, and alligators swam the atlantic ocean to get from mount ararat to the everglades in florida. it's an easy question. if that's what you mean by "scorn", then that's my answer. scorn, scorn, scorn.

  • @tomitstube Scorn is to show contempt .Comments such as "fuck the church" show that. Agnostic means I am open to concepts of religion but not entirely convinced by it because of things like the theory of evolution. Theres more to life than 2 sides of a coin. Many religous people including christians accept the theory of evolution and dont take the bible at face value. The idea that we must go to church is not even in the bible. Belive what you want without offending people. Thats simple.

  • @borednerd74 ~ yes, i know what scorn is and i know what agnostic is.

so how can you not take the bible on "it's face value"? if you don't believe it's the "word of god", then it's a bunch of hooey written by some guys who did too many drugs 2000 years ago.

evolution is consistently fought by christian churches , today, right now! there are fucking senators in this country who don't believe in evolution.

you make no sense, you can't believe both, they're in direct conflict!

  • @tomitstube Well there are people who believe in both and dont take the Bible at face value. I am also aware that there are a far greater amount of christian conservatives in America than were I live. But ive made my point and I have nothing else to add. I just suggest you quit insulting people about there beliefs and leave it at that. BTW if you knew what those words meant then I cant be blamed for telling you the meaning when you have written " idk what agnostic is".

  • @borednerd74 ~ wow, "idk what agnostic is" was rhetorical, as i explained in several examples. questions you have completely ignored. if you can't make up your mind on the answers, then you have peaked in this discussion. if you answer the questions i gave you, truthfully, then you no longer are agnostic. problem solved. i think you're afraid of the truth. no more life-line to the safe place.

have you hear about stephen hawking's new book? it says life doesn't need a god to exist.

  • Comment removed

  • @tomitstube Actually Im not afraid just because I dont make a decision. If there is life after death then I have lived a good life so far. If there is not and I cease to exist, what exactly do I have to be afraid of. Nothing. The reason I think about these things is no matter what we see or belive we have no idea of the nature of our reality. Im not talking about the possibility of a God. Anything could be possible. Also, sorry but science is not watertight. Sorry to not have your opinion.

  • @borednerd74 ~ you're a religious person trying to use "agnosticism" as proof that sky fairies are possible, therefore real. either answer the questions or i'm done with this nonsense.

  • @tomitstube Well im not religious, my original point was about insulting people and if you want me to catogorise what I am I'ed say Agnostic Atheist suits me best. I would never claim that life "needed" God to exist and I never have. Im done if you are.

  • i blame jesus :)

  • Religion has to die.

  • awesome

  • 6:26 People never think, if Jesus makes one team win the game it means he makes the other lose.

  • If there is a God, It is Bill Maher

  • @IEatVideoClips or more likely God...

  • "You are kicked out of the bedroom of Eden!" XD

  • "But you know, we're men , we're like "if this is what they're giving us to fuck...then.....i guess that's what will be fucking " LOLL

  • i guess this was before Maher was an atheist, or maybe he just didn't have the balls to come out and say it yet.

  • @TairyGreen89 Yeah, that part made me go "What the fuck?"

  • Be careful what you say about religion, the beardy sky man will bring forth a plague of insects.

  • Before 1909 publication of Schofield Bible Armageddon was 70 AD. A political forecast of Roman Temple terrorism. End of Days for the Jews in Jerusalem. Todays Israel was engineered by the folks who brought you the Versailles Treaty.

  • Funny how Maher's deprogramming eventually turned him into an atheist... :)

  • it's never a ONE bacteriUM so...

  • e coli is a bacteria, not a virus, BILL..

  • He probably confused it with ebola virus. And not to be a douche, but in the singular it's bacterium.

  • amazing - i always thought he called himself an atheist; but if you listen for it, he says he believes in god...

    cool

  • Just caus he's not a teist. He's a deist.

Can be confused with; Religeous, atheism and agnostisism.

Means that he belives in a god that created everything but that does not interfeer with our judgments or actions.

  • I'm pretty sure, what happened was he grew up Catholic then became agnostic (which was during the time of this stand up special) and is now an atheist.

  • @djdisillusion Ive always seen him having big problems with religions and not "god" in the broadest diestic definition.

  • @djdisillusion

Religion and God are 2 separate things.

You can believe in an all powerful father figure that initialized the creation of the universe without jumping aboard a religious bandwagon.

Maher mocks religion for it's evil and stupid ways, he never says that there is definitely not a God.

  • @Darclipto The huge difference between "religion with its stupid ways" and believing in a God;

One created the universe, we can know and arn't supposed to know anything about it,

the other side "stupid religion" is when you believe this God is a constant force in our lives, is a man living in the sky who gets jealous like a child. "All Powerful Father Figure" = "Stupid Religion". That's what Bill Maher is saying.

  • pretty sure he stated a few times that he has no problem believing god. It's religion that he has problem with.

  • well said indeed TOMITSTUBE. !

  • "..he's a single parent..." LMAO

  • lmao, "pie wagons".

wow, completely dismantling something you believe in. it's like everyone has to be deprogrammed.

it's the goddamn jesus camps, and baptism, and marriage, and death, and birth... religion has a monopoly on your life. every major decision in life involves somebodies fucking church.

    fuck the church. i did.

  • well said. hate those fuckers.

  • Comment removed

  • @bigjonakafatboy ~ it's called figurative speech. don't give up your day job.

  • Tell me about it, the best thing about the anti-religious movement is the breaking of the monopoly upon ethics that people unthinkingly apply to the religious: the thinking ones know this, but I was sent to a baptist church fascistic group because my parents thought they could imbibe moral truths into me.

All we did was line up and learn about how demons tell us to be naughty and how to be shallow bigots just like the unremarkable adults whose wisdom we were subjected to.

  • @fomastephanovitch ~ nice 2nd paragraph. "unremarkable adults" is what transformed me as well. at an early age i realized my religious peers were flawed and "unremarkable", they were obviously winging it. badly too. i was given half ass logic and expected to just accept it. i was admonished and scorned for questioning their authority and half baked intelligence

i wanted concrete answers to existential queries and was basically told to believe the equivalent of fairy tales.

  • You know you really don't have to buy into any of that crap, right? I mean, i got baptized because it made my mother happy, i mean whats the big deal? little water splashed on the head and your dead, big whoop. You don't HAVE to believe in god, but i think it's the right thing to do to at least humor your god-fearing parents. Of course, if your lucky enough to have secular humanists for parents, like i don't, then you don't have to worry about any of that...

  • @guthax20 ~ you're right, i "don't buy into that crap" (religion).

are you saying that as an atheist you have no problem pretending to believe in god? and if isn't such a "big whoop", why don't ask your parents to pretend they're atheists for you? you know, ask them to denounce their faith, to "humor" you.

  • Because i believe that not being a god fearing person makes you the bigger, more mature human being in your family. And if you can't make a few sacrifices to avoid hurting the feelings of others, then your no better than the religious people in the first place. You know, whenever i even hint at god being harmful to the world, my parents get really pissy, you know? Is my spouting my atheist (i'm an agnostic, but w/e) stuff worth causing so much conflict? Not right now it isn't...

  • @tomitstube dont wanna get my genitals that dirty!

  • @rugbyanden ~ i hear ya. lol, "just don't fuck on my birthday".

  • @tomitstube LOL, the building or the priests in it?

  • @tomitstube You are so fucking hot. Oops. I mean I love your brain.

  • @OctoroonToYou ~ my brain thanks you, you beautiful creature.

  • @tomitstube religion has no monoply on my live, because i watch sometimes people like bill.

believe in your own strenght, and if you need any support go and check the needs of your friends.

but beware, never get involved with people with DOGMA,s.christians,or MOSLIM,S,or HINDU,s,or BUDDIST or wathever faith, beware.

believe in your own power, the power of deduction, the power of healthy mind-thinking.

be yourself, love yourself, stay yourself, and love your friends and family you dont need religion!!!!

  • @ThePeeterd ~ hey thanks for the positive comments. i was speaking in general terms about how religion gets you early on with indoctrination and rituals. but of course that doesn't work with people like you or me who don't follow the flock without questions.

i learned by 15 that my church was nothing but a control thing. being the anti-authoritarian i am, i left the church. haven't been in a church in years.

  • E coli is not a virus lawl.

  • FUCKING JESUS

  • Every time I listen to Bill Maher, my brain starts thinking again...thanks Bill.

  • Bill is a smart guy, except he believes in a god, despite he hated religion. Bill, there is no god... go the whole way man... stop procrastinating.

  • Does he still? He mentions being atheist frequently on his show.

  • @ 3:01 He says, "I believe in god, I just give him a lot more credit in this..."

  • Yeah but this is clearly not recent.

  • Ahh I see... so his position has changed to atheist? Good, pleased to hear it.

  • Yeah I think so. He's had Dawkins and Hitchens and Harris all on his show recently.

  • This is the thing: stop telling the man what to believe...

  • SHASHINTOKYO: Hi:) Good point. I'm a procastinator too, especially when it comes to dieting..

    jd

  • damn right

  • He was being sarcastic about believing in God im pretty sure. Just to make a point.

  • no he was serious. he's agnostic, he just doesn't believe in the Biblical God.

  • Actually i just wikied it and it says hes an apatheist which means he doesnt care or think its relevant to his life if god exists or not.

  • he is atheist now. agnostics belive in a higher power just not god.. atheist dont believe in any higher power...check out Religulous. he talks about how he went from from cathlic to agnostic to atheist..

  • agnostic doesn't mean we belive in an alternate higher power. It means we don't know, we havent reached a conclusion, and it doesn't look like we will anytime soon

  • We won't...that is until we die, at least.

  • @ApocIndustries That means you're an atheist.

    Belief = Theist

    No belief = Atheist.

Stop with the fucking hypothetical bullshit fencesitting.

  • @ApocIndustries If you doubt it means you don't believe. Which means you are an Atheist.

  • @coenkoopmans

    Agnostic, not atheists.

  • @ApocIndustries agnostics are atheists as well

  • @ChuckNorris130194 there are agnostic atheists and agnostic christians and probably other agnostics as well

  • @ApocIndustries i think it's more like we have reached the conclusion that you CAN'T know 100%

  • @ApocIndustries And that's why everyone is agnostic, it doesn't matter what they say

  • Wrong. Agnostic means that they don't know (and don't even know if it's *possible* to know) whether or not God exists.

  • The only position a human being can take on the issue of transcendental metaphysics without validating an inference.

  • Why are you all hating on him just because he is/was an agnostic?

I'm guessing you're all left leaning libertarians like myself, part of that is being accepting of others beliefs and letting them believe/do whatever the hell they want (within reason, not hurting other people of course). "I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

Bashing on agnostics and "believers" is just as fascist as religious people spewing fire and brimstone at atheists.

  • Sorry, maybe your comments wasn't meant for me... but where was the hate in my comment?

  • also well said. (like in

fight club, how I think BOTH sides (the straights as well as the underground nihlist club) are equally enslaved by something.

indeed, ignoring em both and choosing whatever you wish (even if it resembles either of the "sides") is the way

  • yeah... that confuses me, but hes a genious anyway, and the reason i hate religioous people is coz they let it affect their lives, believe what you like, you should live a could life anyway, bill maher is a stoner so he aint the problem :)

  • If only religious people lived according to their religions more often. Because the three major religions, Islam, Christianity and Judeism have one thing in common. "Treat people the way you want to be treated". The problem is that people leave it to the retoric spewting morons interpret the Bible, Qur'an and Tora instead of actually thinking for themselves.

  • Bill Maher says he believes in God at 3:01! I didn't think that was the case.

Granted, he didn't say Yahweh or Jehovah or Allah, but he said he believes in God.

Score one for the nondescript theists.

  • The show was almost ten years ago. His views have changed since then; these days he gave a lecture at the Atheist Alliance Convention.

  • he's agnostic

  • In the movie religulous he admits to being an atheist as not believing in a god. This stand up is a little old.

  • I looked him up on wikipedia, and it seems to think that he's all of the above, and they also add "apathetic" to the list.

  • For once Bill is startin to make sense, I too believe in God, but I mean its obvious the religions have..more than a little bit screwed it up..twisted the spiritual truths of love and peace, and we humans, made it reflect us, we make God reflect us, no, man is the tyrant, not God. Dont be fooled into disbelieving in God because of the evil man does, we are responsible for our actions, nobody is gonna save us, God will help us though by giving us heart inspiration to do the right thing.

  • Bill Maher is good at making people look stupid. And people are pretty stupid in general.

  • Personally, I belive in God, in a sense that I belive that there is something bigger then us, not a grey bearded prick sitting his ass on a cloud and ordering floods and locusts on his cellphone. But what I totally and utterly refuse to belive is the Bible and any organized religion.

If beliveing in something helps people cope with every day, go for it. But as soon as more of them come together, shit hits the fan because their God wants them to convert the whole world using M16s.

  • Where was this show?

  • NYC
