This was recorded in 2000 so he was probably still "deconstructing" his brain from religion to atheism at that time. The decision to become atheist involves a lot of re-wiring in your brain. You have to focus on it and try to avoid reverting to your basic, church-driven programming. If anything, atheism makes you more aware of your personal accountability and your personal worth within your community.

If only religious people lived according to their religions more often. Because the three major religions, Islam, Christianity and Judeism have one thing in common. Agnostic means I am open to concepts of religion but not entirely convinced by it because of things like the theory of evolution. Theres more to life than 2 sides of a coin. Many religous people including christians accept the theory of evolution and dont take the bible at face value. The idea that we must go to church is not even in the bible. Belive what you want without offending people. Thats simple.

If there is not and I cease to exist, what exactly do I have to be afraid of. Nothing. The reason I think about these things is no matter what we see or belive we have no idea of the nature of our reality. Im not talking about the possibility of a God. Anything could be possible. Tell me about it, the best thing about the anti-religious movement is the breaking of the monopoly upon ethics that people unthinkingly apply to the religious: the thinking ones know this, but I was sent to a baptist church fascistic group because my parents thought they could imbibe moral truths into me.
All we did was line up and learn about how demons tell us to be naughty and how to be shallow bigots just like the unremarkable adults whose wisdom we were subjected to.

And if you can't make a few sacrifices to avoid hurting the feelings of others, then your no better than the religious people in the first place. Personally, I belive in God, in a sense that I belive that there is something bigger then us, not a grey bearded prick sitting his ass on a cloud and ordering floods and locusts on his cellphone. But what I totally and utterly refuse to belive is the Bible and any organized religion.
If beliveing in something helps people cope with every day, go for it. But as soon as more of them come together, shit hits the fan because their God wants them to convert the whole world using M16s.
