@Doderhultarn89- A S&W model 10 is is chambered for .38 Special. The model 13 is pretty much the same gun except the model 13 has a heavier barrel and chambered for the .357 magnum round.
@Doderhultarn89 The model 10 and 13 both use the same exact frame and barrel's. The model 13 was a .357 magnum and was available in 3" and 4" versions only, while the model 10 was a .38 special and was available in 2, 3, & 4" versions. However, the barrels were also called "Bull" barrels and were in fact both the same thickness barrels. Both were offered in either blued or nickel finishes. The model 65 was the same exact gun as the model 13 except it was stainless steel. The model 64 was the .38
i just got a 13-3 model and love it. from what i have looked up it's a K frame. one shouldn't shoot any .357's under 148 grain too. or that's what i've seen bloggers say... it may mess up the barrel after about 1,000 rounds.
My grandpa has the exact same gun, but with different grips. He told me it's a k frame. add an annotation telling people it's a k frame, because everyone else seems to agree.
Very nice. I've got a S&W Model 13-1 with big black grips. Not the same as what you show, but similar. Picked it up for $250 at a gun show. 2nd most inexpensive gun I own. 1st being the Hi-Points, both of which together cost $210. But there's just no comparison between the two. Hi-Points feel like toys where as the Model 13 just has the no-nonsense feel to it.
scrate shooter doesnt know shit 38 special is for revolvers 38 super is for like real nice 1911's thats all i can find its made by rock island arms that's all i can find that has ever shot it but i never really look for weird calibers
Good job on the video. I also have a model 13 but mine is in almost brand new, buy it right off the shelf retail condition. Mine came stock with the S&W wood grips. Very heavy, stone-cold reliable weapon. Anybody have an idea of the current value of an absolutely mint example?
I believe it's a K frame, isn't it. I think the way it goes is J frame (small snubbies), K frame (medium frame like model 10, which the 13 is just the 357 version of) and L frame (large frame like the 44's)
L frame is another medium frame. It is slightly larger than the K frame and was a response to criticism that S&Ws K frame .357s would wear out quickly using a steady diet of full power .357 loads. The N frame is the S&W large frame.
That's a classic pistol. I bet if you called or wrote S&W they could look up your serial number and you could find out when it was made. Most places do that for free, and it's interesting. Don't ever sell that pistol, it's too handy of a gun to not have. The wood grips make it look nice, I never did like plastic. Good video young man!
Wow S&W is getting bad. Ruger, Kimber and Springfield have all looked up serials for me for nothing with nothing more than a polite e-mail and the number, and as a matter of fact, all have e-mailed back within the same day.
The do charge for a "History Letter", but all you need to know is the date of manufacture. You could try their phone number or even an e-mail, but I wouldn't pay a cent. Every company gives this out for free. Springfield even sent me a new manual and paid for shipping too!
I found a 13-1 in a pawn shop here today and brought it home for $375. After a good cleaning, it's my new home defense go to.

You release that hammer from single action in that manner and you can still strike the primer. Nice gun... try not to shoot yourself.

K frame made with 3" - 4" barrels, We have a 13-3 with a 4" heavy and in nickel, which seems odd.

.38 Super is semi-rimmed. It is 9x21 if I am correct.

I don't remember typing this^
.38 Super is 9x23mm, 9x21 is 9mm Largo
scrateshooter 3 years ago
yea you were saying .38 super was for revolvers and .38 specail was semi auto pistols. you also said .38 super was the parent case for .357 magnum.

i think you ment 38super not 38 special.
gunlover1911 3 years ago
Nope, .38 special interchanges with .357 magnum. The .38 super is made for semi-autos, and I'm pretty sure is rimless.

sorry i thought the .38 super was the longer one.
