  • What a shame you felt the need to add your ident over the graphics - ruins it.

  • Wheres eight for a wish, nine for a kiss and ten for a bird you must not miss?

  • yeah sounds right we all got several types of drug problems loadza kids everywhere and see working girls on a regular basis suppying them money to feed there crack and smack habits.....yeah magpie really helped me in life....!

  • Blue Peter, for posher children and a better world. Not like this bunch of riff-raff

  • @robt135utube I completely agree, or though our family wasn't particularly posh, we lived in a Council house but I was slightly better educated and an animal lover. At least Blue Peter had animals on it. I had much higher ideals as a child than Magpie.

  • The Magpie logo at the end always reminds me of a set of false teeth, I don't know why.

  • Awesome.Todays equivalent would be Arctic Monkeys doing the music for Lazytown or something (god i feel so ancient).

  • Magpie was like Blue Peter, but without the O Levels

  • I was always a Blue Peter girl myself, at least they had animals on, something that Magpie was lacking.

  • @Feisty1967 but they didn't have Jenny Hanley!

  • thank you for this Vidieo w Spencer Davis who wrote the Song? thanx again tvinsider 4

  • Panda limeade. Fish fingers. Beans on toast. I was brought up in the Southern region. Anyone remember 'Cydrax' non-alcoholic pop drink which had a small amount of cider in ("produced in Devon using real cider")? There was a pear version too.

  • I think the lettering is called bubble writing. We did a lot of it on our jotters.

  • Psychedelic and very 1970s. What is the name of the style of lettering the programme's name appears in? That style of lettering is as much part of the 70s as art deco was part of the 1930s. The Goodies' title and the name on Spangles packets was also in the same style.

  • waaa! i can't remember the music being that funky! lovely hammond stabs :)

  • Yer remember it well, Jenny Handley was a bit of alright and I liked the theme, and it was much better than the stuffy Blue Peter, Magpie was cool.

  • It was called 'Out of Town' which was presented by Jack Hargreaves.

  • Bob Fleming!

  • And one of the few progs which had the Southern Tv ident (with the plinky acoustic guitar) - along with Worzel Gummidge and the Famous Five. If you lived in London then sometimes - when the atmospherics were good - you could tune your shitty b&w telly 4th channel to wobbly dotty Southern. God we were bored...

  • can anyone remember a programme with an old man who would explain things like country crafts and oldy worldy stuff

  • I was a Blue Peter kid, but this theme tune & intro animation brings it all back!

  • magpie, blue peter for the working class kids.

  • The music, that fat magpie walking across the tv screen when I came back from school - brings it all back.

  • i remember the episode where the curly haired chap farted out of his bum, good stuff, those were the days

  • Out of his bum? As opposed to where?

  • Good point.

  • My tea time munchies - little cubes of cheese, carrot slices, slices of cucumber, some rolled up slices of ham/turkey, a carton or two of Ribena, and a side dish of some salt'n'vinegar Twists or Pringles crisps.

Anyone remember Merrimac drinks - those clear plastic tubes of lemonade flat at the ends and which came with a straw? Around 1976?
