if im going to get arma should i get arma2 or arma1? btw i havnt got the best computer so maybe if sys requirments are lower for arma1 maybe should get that?
Ive seen in some video, can't remember if it was yours, that it was possible to look around when as gunner in hmmwv or tank commander when turned out. I've tried to do it, but can't. The m113 seems to be the only one that it's possible in, is it just bugged in the latest patch or was it removed.
Hi Dslyexci, i have a trackir4 already, but i wanted to know if the trackclip pro provides anything more? More accuracy in the head movements or whatsoever?
It's active IR illumination (the LEDs) versus passive (the TrackHat Vector thing with the reflectors). There is probably more reliability with the TrackClipPro because of that. Aside from that, the major benefit is that you can attach it to your headphones and forget about it. You don't have to put on a hat or anything to use it. I like it a lot for that reason.
No, the TrackClipPro is just a special headset you use with the TrackIR Pro. If you use the coupon on my site (dslyecxi dot com), the whole package is either $149 or $179, depending on what version you get.
Ohhh, so the more expensive package includes the headset, but you can just buy the $39 piece of equipment and attach it to any headset and it will work like you are displaying? (sorry if questions seem stupid, but I'd like to know as much as possible before I make a purchase. ;))
The normal TrackIR comes with a little clip that you put on a hat, it uses that to track movement. It is IR-reflective and the TrackIR illuminates it with infrared light. The TrackClipPro is simply something you can attach to your headphones that produces IR light itself, which the TrackIR tracks. It's basically less of a hassle to use than the Track"Hat" that you would have by default.
Anytime. It's a real fun piece of gear - I only use it in ArmA these days (I don't play flight sims often), but even in just that it's a blast to use. I can't imagine playing without it.
I can't say that I'm too familiar with the 7300 series, but I would imagine in the 1.09 beta you would be able to get decent framerates as long as you don't go crazy with the visual options.
No, it's very easy to set up. Install the TrackIR and it's software, update it (so you get the new software update automatically), then launch ArmA while the TrackIR software is running. It's very simple.

It's by a group called "The String Quartet", doing a tribute to (IIRC) System of a Down.

It was bugged in a patch. You can find a mod called "TrueHeadMovement" (part of TrueMods) that reenables it.

Thaks very much. It's been bugging me not being able to look around as gunner.

Ok you convinced me, i'll buy one for Arma :)

I refer to the music while Dslyexci flies the chopper....

It's music by the String Quarter, IIRC it's from their cover of System of a Down.

Man, I want the TrackIR.

Is that you in that video testing the head gear? That looks cool

Yeah, it's cool stuff. Highly recommended if you're into the kinds of games that support it.

Do I need to buy the Pro package, it's like $200! Can't I just buy the device for only 39? And it will still work like you are demonstrating?

No, the $39 item is the TrackClipPro, /not/ the TrackIR4Pro. You must have the TrackIR4Pro. The TrackClipPro is optional.

Oh, gotcha. Thank you, sir. *starts saving money*.
What does the Trackclip do for you that the TrackIR4PRO doesn't?

Aha, my headphones don't go over the top of my head, so for me it would probably be better to have a hat instead of the Clip.
Anyway, thank you for your patience and help!

ArmA2, definitely. OFP2, no idea.

Hey Dslyecxi, what kind of system specs would i need to run ArmA well?
Dengar12000 4 years ago
With the 1.09 beta you can run it with pretty much any recent system. What are your specs?
Dslyecxi 4 years ago
Windows XP Media Center Edition
Pentium D 2.8 Ghz
2 GB of ram
Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE
EAX 2 compatible sound
DirectX 9.0c

I have been thinking of getting trackIR, But is it difficult to configure in ARMA? (nice touch with the profile download available)
