  • you shut be thrown in dust.

  • @JulianoAlberto2005 ??? you know they like dust baths right ?

  • @JulianoAlberto2005 THATS how chinchillas clean themselves, DO some fucking research

  • @indoom666 Chins jump in an aquarium to small for goldfishes? Which is then filled up by dust instead of water? =DDD

  • @JulianoAlberto2005 chinchillas cant get wet or their fur falls off, If their fur falls off they can get sick. PLEASE do some research

  • @indoom666 Wrong.. If a chinchilla gets wet fungus grows beneath their fur.

  • this is animal cruelty !!! thumbs down for you... that poor animal's scared in there.

  • @karansb ummm chinchillas do that when they take a bath... no animal cruelty. besides shes fine. shes cleaning herself

  • @karansb you must be very very uneducated, Please research before posting ignorant comments.

  • Comment removed

  • what does this do for them?

  • is it ok if u use babypower? or how did u get dust in that bowl....nvr owned a chinchilla wuts actually in that bowl? and if u can or if anyone can send me the requirements for owning a chinchilla

  • Chinchilla is a really beautiful animal but... is expensive care this pet??

  • Asshole aussies aside yeah you shouldn't hold it by its tail but no biggie just don't keep doing it. What a total fucktard this scoobypirana is theres a point between being informative and just being a "dick!!!".

  • Relax. What are you guys peta employees? The chinchilla is fine, and no their tails do not snap off like twigs. It looks very happy so why complain.

  • gee, i would like to be trapped in a bowl too

  • wretch like you're holding the chinchilla skins by the tail?

  • 1. i think it needs a little more dust in there

    2. never grab a chinchilla by its tail it can ruin his spine or even tear off

    3. yout threw it in there as if you were dropping a dead mouse in the toilet :(

  • @popteen28

ah yes, and you are the Chinchilla expert? In that case, welcome, and please, enlighten us more!

They're not of bloody ceramics, I had a gerbil that just bounced of walls when he ran into them. These animals can take a lot before they are actually hurt.

  • @popteen28 Oh hey look everyone! A person who thinks they know about chinchillas!

  • @popteen28 I sincerely hope you are not a chinchilla owner....

  • I think it needs more of the dust in there...

  • SUPER CUTE XD

  • I agree with the last commenting one, the tail is

    - the last section of the spine, so it can easily break and paralyse the chin for all his/her life

    - is very sensitive, it can be torn away with an uncareful movement and it's not gonna grow back...

    - very likely causes pain if the chin is held by it (just imagine if you were in the same situ)

  • Picking a chin up by it's tail is painful for the Chinchilla! If you do need to get control of your pet you may gently pinch the base of it's tail while you cradle it's butt w/ your free hand. You would benefit from READING a book about caring for Chinchillas and perhaps a trip to a vet for exotic animals.

  • y did u pick i up by the tail in the beggining

  • to be serious though I'm talking out of my ass cause I don't own one but do!!!

  • ok...a 5 Lb chinchilla's tail breaks off, but picking up a 30+Lb pig by the MIDDLE of the tail doesn't cause it to break off?!?!?

watch when he picks it up, does it LOOK like it's in pain? to me it just looks like the chin is going WEEE IM IN THE FREAKIN AIR IM FLYYYYYYYYING!!!!!!!!

  • OMG dont hold them bye there tail it could snap off. wow how thick are some people

  • I want a chinchilla):

  • is very small bathroom

  • Chinchillas are delicious. There are thousands that roam the mountain sides in my country and they are considered food and a resource for clothing more than pets.

  • @PuraVid4 true but sad once u have one and see how sweet they are

  • @MissMacArthur799 I have had many in my lifetime. I have bred them mostly for clothing and food. They are very delicate animals and I admire their cuteness but I have no reservation to use them for my own personal gain.

  • holding them at the base of their tail will not harm them, if you do it to the point they start to squirm the tail can then break but not break off i work at a vet for exotic and small animals and we get allot of people who come in and ask this question because their chinchilla dosent like to be picked up by the waist.

  • I have had chinchillas for years, holding them by the tail is actually not safe, their tails CAN break off esp. at the tip.

  • what if in reality it is slowly sufficating from too many dust particales so it starts sqirming around.

  • I don't know about the tail breaking off, but I imagine it would be very uncomfortable. Like someone picking you up just by your arm. It's a lot of weight to be supported by a few small joints.

  • @MsKindragon

Learn your material first before you speak and read the information that's already presented.

  • @iflippy I just meant that it's interesting that it doesn't hurt them. I can understand why people think it does.

  • @MsKindragon Oh? Alright, I understand.

  • by the tail so as not doing

  • Lol.. It's not a lizard. Their tales don't fall off! LOL! That's kinda funny!! Very cute chinchilla!

  • Dont hold it by the tail the tip can come off.

  • @TACOfarmerXD the tail's tip wont fall off -.-

  • a bowl as a dust bath, not a bad idea..

  • SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! i loooooove chinchillas!!! they're so silly when they take their baths. =)

  • Sorry, but I have to agree with everyone else on this. Your not suppost to hold a chinchilla by its tail. It can break off...

  • @PinkRoxyChick01 I'm sorry, but where did you hear this?? it doesn't break off because that is the strongest part of the body, that is actually how you handle a chinchilla. Lizard tails break off though.

  • @PinkRoxyChick01 bull shit man - I bought my chinchilla at university farm from doctor of their anatomy and she said that Tail of chinchilla is the safest part of its body to handle it.

  • Seriously? dude that is very odd as many people have mentioned, at the base of their tail is how you best hold a chinchilla. If your pet died then i am very sorry. but no one in this video mistreated the chinchilla.

  • I own chinchillas. You're supposed to hold it by its tail when picking it up because the bones in the rest of its bodies are extremely fragile.

  • Comment removed

  • @pikamanable This has been told like a thousant times already. Their tail is the strongest part in their body, holding them by the base of the tail is completely fine. You don't pick them up by the tail but you can hold it to keep them from jumping out of your arms. If a chinchilla is hurt by this, then you're not doing it correctly.

  • @KyleeKingdom Their head hits the container anyway, of course if you use plastic the material will reduce the soundwaves, in the wild they're exposed to getting hit by rocks, etc. Sure they get hit but not in a harmful way, hey're not dumb, they know what they're doing.

  • seriously calm down do you people now anything about chinchillas i bet half of you dont even own one and its the same effect as when a cat picks its young up by the gruff of its neck.

  • awww I love how at the end she pops out of the bowl that was too cute!!!!

  • @TheChesney12345 I'm surprised no one else decided to reply to your comment. Do you not READ other comments, clearly explaining why he was holding it like that? So, since I'm too lazy to explain, I'll let you read the rest for yourself.

  • @TheChesney12345 Someone's butthurt.

  • ARGHHHH! SO MUCH MUFFINNING!! <3 <3

  • @KyleeKingdom bowls just like the one he put her in are actually recommended by pretty much anyone who's ever had a Chin. They don't flip over easily, and the Chin clearly isn't hurting it's self or it'd stop. They're not stupid lol

  • ok why do you bath them in dust doesent that makeing it dirter?

  • @Shanedawsonlover0 haha i just barely asked my parents that i dont have one but once i get a job ill probably bye one they dont really know why they give them dust baths my mom said its because they are dirty animals so they like it but i dont know

  • @lilsweetfeetbro Research before you accquire a chinchilla, they're cheaper to sustain but require more attention than an average cat or dog. Dust is to keep their parasite resistant fur dry, if it gets wet they are exposed to fungus and diseases. NEVER BATHE A CHINCHILLA WITH WATER. Also tell your mom that they're quite clean, sure they poo everywhere but their droppings are easy to clean and they dont have any natura odor.

  • @Shanedawsonlover0 No, chinchilla fur is very parasite resistant, if you bathe them in water the humidity will cause the resistance to fade and could cause diseases to animals. Chinchillas are from desertic (cold) places, they don't like water.

    Also it's DUST not DIRT.

  • You post anything with an animal in it on youtube, you will get people doing their best to call what is happening cruel in some way.

  • Wow, he loves his bath so much he's spazing. That's too cute....

  • Hey its ok to hold a chinchilla by the tail people. When chinchillas are hurt they make aloud shriek noise. I looked at the persons hands and they were holding her by the tail correctly, at the root of the tail. As long as you don't hold them there too long its ok. This is coming from a person who has had a chinchilla for about 4 years :)

  • How about everybody stops commenting on the way he handles his chinchilla. Holding them by the base of the tail is quite common when they won't allow you to pick them up "normally." There is actually a picture in a book I have on small pets that has a picture demonstrating that this is an adequate form of handling.

  • I think it's silly how they all spaz out when they get their dust bath (:

  • Someone should ask Mr Chinchilla about how he thinks about being picked up by the tail. =P

  • @peifen93 I think he should ignore you!

  • Chinchillas have the same amount of nerves in there tail as a human down in there ear. Imagine being held in the air by your ear, and ear only. It would hurt. Please.. think about the well being of your animal. Consider rehoming it if you can not handle it properly.

  • DEAR GAWD. Hold the animal CORRECTLY. If you cant hold a damn animal correctly then please DO NOT have a child. You will be the next person on the news, for dropping there kid and killing them. Damn. I can imagine you with kids

    "Lets have a bath honey"

    PLOP!

"Opps! now splash around and drown in your blood since you cracked your head open" :D

    -.-

    Idiot.

  • so adorable

  • lololololololololololololollolololololollol

  • ITS SO FLUFFY

  • omg she's just like

"YESSSS!!! OH GOD YES!!!! AHAHAHAHA -takes a break. . .- YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" xD

    really cute

  • ahe was flipping out man

  • I know this is a bit of a late comment, but do any of you have a chin? Holding it by the tail is actually a common way of picking them up, particularly if they are a bit unruly, as this one may have been all excited about the dust bath. this was ok handling as he had her by the base of the tail. No harm would be done like this. sheesh people, know what you are talking about before opening your mouth...

  • @rockymntsax I agree, if it was actually hurting the animal it bark and try to bite.

  • @rockymntsax This is a way of picking them up for breeders that go for the money and forget about the animals.. It is proven that is accualy hurst the Chinchilla.. The beginning of the tail - where it is attached to the body - will hurt when you pick them up like this. The best way is to make a bowl of your hands and pick them up. It is something there is a lot of misunderstandig about.. :P

  • @rockymntsax Can I ask why this is? I mean, like, do they have stronger bones there opr something?

  • Getting jellous i want one to :(

  • You guys commenting are fools. I even read in a text book that you hold them carefully by the tail and or even the ears. It showed you pictures on how to handle a chinchilla correctly.

    ...Anyway....

I love your video! :3 Your chinchilla is priceless! How much did you pay for her?

Oh and a question. By dust baths do they also mean "sand" baths? O is a different thing? I eagerly wait your reply!

  • @ConceptionalHatred The dust is very different from sand. MUCH finer. But yea, mine and my girlfriends chinchilla Luna loves her dust baths. They're like crack for em. Spins and goes crazy in them. I've heard however that they can take too many dust baths, and others say they can take one every day and be fine.

  • ''All clean..oh no..how do i get out?''

  • What the heck are you thinking you hobo you are not suppose to hold a chinchilla like that stupid face. If you do that their i going to fall off fudge face.you are so mean and dumnb and stupid you are so mean to that chinchilla i hope you fell off a cliff and died

  • Sweet Bebe! She's a dust fish.

  • yeah i love how these people comment on how to hold the chin when they probably don't even have one. you can hold it by its tail, as long as it's close to the behind, not the end. there's nothing wrong with the way it was held. it's the same way professional groomers hold them to comb them. do some research or educate yourselves before criticizing someone else.

  • Picking a chinchilla up by the base of the tail is the correct way. If you pick one up by the middle you may break a rib b/c their ribcage is so brittle.

  • Aww, too cute! My hedgehog's name is Sweet Pea.

  • it is bad to pick them up by they're tail..why not just hold it?...unless it wont let u? then u shouldnt have it in the first place...they're tails can come off and it will kill them...

  • @rainnovice93 their*

  • @tunnelvision543 *claps* WOOOOOO!!!!! what would we do without the grammer police!!!!

  • @rainnovice93 grammar*

  • @tunnelvision543 damn your good

  • Don't pick them up by their tail!! I don't care if everyone you've seen does that, It doesn't make it right.

  • @jrod1195

And it doesn't make it right to break their ribs now does it?

I was reading about if handling by it's tail is safe and it is.

You pick the tail at the BASE and it's better to support it's body after picking it up by it's tail.

It's safer than just picking it up by the body and risk breaking it's rib.

They have a weak rib cage so they can jump higher.

What I mean is that their rib cage is light so they can jump.

I'm no expert nor do I own a chinchilla but that's what I've researched.

  • It needs a bigger bowl and waaay more dust!

  • My friend's chinchilla took a dust bath and knocked the whole bath over >:( Got in my eyes lol (And you CAN hold a chinchilla by its tail just as long as you're not swinging it around or yanking it up :( But what he did is fine. Seriously, Calm down. XD)

  • YOU ARE A IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER EVER EVER! PICK A CHINCHILLA UP LIKE THAT!!!!

  • @Starrizfy33 picking it up by the tail isn't harmfull to the chinchilla in any way. Infact most people handle chinchillas like that because it doesn't hurt them, so calm down

  • @metaridley171 i have 4 chinchillas so i would know, so don't be telling me to calm down

  • @Starrizfy33 i have 0 chinchillas, but i'm bored, so calm down

  • Comment removed

  • @Starrizfy33 hee hee, this is why I love youtube. It has the funniest pissed off people on it... like you

  • @metaridley171 1 hey, that was my friend using my account sorry about that, she has anger issues, i know you can hold a chin by the base of the tail, my friend doesnt, i do own four chins, but i was away and she and her mother were watching my chins, and i have an automatic sign in for Youtube so i don't have to put in my pass every time. so she used my account

  • @Starrizfy33 Hey. Shut the fuck up and calm down.

  • @Starrizfy33 Dude, fuck you! Get a fucking life you fucking tool! Hell even if their tail DID come off from holding it like that, it would grow back in like a week anyway so shut the hell up and read a book!!

  • @Rockman1031 hey, that was my friend using my account sorry about that, she has anger issues, i know you can hold a chin by the base of the tail, my friend doesnt, i do own four chins, but i was away and she and her mother were watching my chins, and i have an automatic sign in for Youtube so i don't have to put in my pass every time. so she used my account

  • @staryfie35 i no right!!!!

  • DO A BARREL ROLL

  • lol its so cute i wanna hug her X3

  • Plleeeaaassee by another dist bath, please :9 I'm actually begging for you to do so.. And put more dust in :(

  • crack head

  • A perfect voice over during the final second: "I'd like to get out now...." It's so adorable ^^

  • Why do chinchillas scratch at their dust bath seriously....I have one he sits their scratches it a bit rolls around in it like 10 times then he comes out....What does the scrathching have 2 do with it

  • Yeah, because pet store employees know everything, right? They also pick up rats by their tails which you're not supposed to do because their tail can become de-gloved (skin can come off the tail). Secondly, if you're going to put a video ON THE INTERNET, expect opinions whether or not you like them. The owner does not have to read them, can delete them, etc. The world is not going to collapse.

  • How did they find out about dust baths? Do they do this in the wild? Insane!

  • Chinchillas are so cute! :) Where do you get one? I want one! xD

  • cute vid but please dont hold it by its tail

  • @darkwolve16 your supposed to hold it by its tail.....duh. i worked at a pet store.

  • Title is jokes!

  • Idiot!!! why r u holding him from the tail? u can break his spine!

  • @crycol because you're supposed too

  • i want to get a chinchilla for my b-day there so cool

  • the fish bowl was a smart idea. but it looks like it could use a bigger bowl

or a small/ medium fish tank

  • at the beggining when people saw the chinchilla being handled by its tail, just calm down, chinchillas can be handled that way, but doesnt mean to go carrying around your chinchilla hanging by its tail...lol (inside joke) chill out people

  • hehe i have a endangered albino chinchilla, and i used a fish bowl too to give him his dust baths.

  • chinchillas arent considered albino. what you have is probably a wilson white. they are pure white with pink ears and red eyes.

  • is chinchilla dust safe for my Syria Hamster to clean in? or, is there somthing else for her to clean in?? please mail me back,

  • nah, the hamsters inhale it. its not safe. chinchilla SAND is completely safe though, and you can also try bird sand but my hamster and neither of my gerbils and m sisters hamster didnt show any interest

  • The chin clearly isn't bothered by the handling, and seems to have had a great time. I would personally give her something with a little wider base so she can spread out a bit more, but she didn't seem to mind.

  • chinchillas can handle being picked up by the tail no problem. chill out, guys. also, many of you obviously have never handled a chinchilla. if they aren't used to you or just don't want to be handled, they will squirm out of your grasp and they are very fast and extremely difficult to catch once on the ground. sometimes you have no choice. funny thing is i knew as soon as i saw this video there would be a ton of stupid comments about it.

  • no, u dont know anything about chins, so shut up. all these ppl against you.

  • stupid ass dont hold your chinchilla by the tail its like someone holding you by the hair. whats wrong with you!! and hes in a fish bowl!

  • you obviously know nothing about chins.

  • Cute chinchilla btw! I want one myself =]

  • One other thing anilwarrier10 go to hell you fucking, sick, twisted bastard!

  • @animefan8691 some of us are just trying to say that be careful with a chinchilla, we didnt say not to hold it like that. The tail can come off if you hold iit incorrectly or the spine might break and the chinnie will be paralyzed. but the way this guy held it its fine

  • whats wrong with that? then it would be even cuter! ^ ^ a 'manx chinchilla'. what a great idea

  • @QmanFTW youre right. its the same for Degu's and Gerbils. Its an adaptation they have that their tails fall off easily, so if caught by a predator, it falls off and the animal escapes. However the tail doesnt grow back. It is always best to hold it at the base of the tail and to be gentle

  • @QmanFTW actually they are saying not to pick up the chinchilla like that

  • @QmanFTW it takes more than that for the tail to come off. I agree that you should be careful, but its not terrible to hold a chinchilla by the tail... as far as anyone knows, there are mixed reviews by people who know this shit that say its ok, and some that do not....

  • @animefan8691 Dude no you really can't pick a chinchilla up by it's tail.

Also there's not enough sand in there, ALSO it's too fucking small.

    Idiots.

Yes I do have better things to do, however, it's 2am and my chinchilla is playing around in my room. So no offence, but do you KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CHINCHILLA'S!?!? Shut the hell up yeah. You CANNOT hold a chinchilla like that.

And for the owner, if you read this, can you please buy a bigger dust bath? They are pretty cheap in pet stores :)
