Frankly, I didn't like this movie. There was no depth of relationship between these two, I didn't emphasize with them at all. What did they even see in each other?? I think the relationship was all about sex, nothing else. And, they were not gay by the way - why everyone defends this as a gay movie I don't know. Both of them had relationships with women. They were bisexual.

The film was about cultural repression and reality is many repressed gay men get married because of cutural/religious reasons - only a few admit what they are and act on it. As for it being a sex movie, well sex is a part of the courtship/love process. The movie showed a lot of love between these two characters and the main point of the film was how their environment wouldnt allow their relationship to evolve. A well written script.
@hudstar2011 yes, I understand all that. Possibly you are right about the Jack character, he seemed the more experienced of the two. One got the feeling that Ennis was not his first. My point was that the film showed no connection between them, other than sexual. i didn't find their relationship romantic or inspiring in any way.

Not inspiring by our modern knowledge but pretty accurate I guess for an era and the fact it was a rural setting. The willingness to give in was one-sided so I guess the physical part was the least they had to share. The connection was incredibly repressed and you could probably set this story in a modern day suburb

I absolutely adore this film. It's living proof that love has no gender. It's so beautifully captured, and it's just so wonderful. We're all human, therefore we all have the right to be loved, regardless of whether they are the same sex or not. Happiness is the only thing that matters.

Who knows what is the reall Love? How does Love look like? And how sometimes we can not appreciate and enjoy what we have at present.
Brokeback mountain was the Eternity but Jack wanted to bring the real Love to the commonness. Lucky someon who can distinguish the eternity and the commonness and keep them apart. Probably Jack died because he couldn't distinguish them. it's the great film.

I always end up crying when I see this >///< I know what it's like to have to hide something like that, and to have to keep your distance and lie. It's painful, and I can relate, so it gets to me. I think this is actaully the first romance movie to ever make me cry.
The ending was the most saddest thing I have ever scene. Opens the closet, sees Jack's shirt with the last brokeback mountain post card, cherishes it, imagine's jack is wearing it, saying "Ur haircut looks weird", then imagine's about jack, closes the door and then walks away. That hit my heart sooooooo bad

This has to be the greatest ever love story committed to film. Continuity errors abound but the acting, the sets, the screenplay - they all come together so powerfully that it's beyond me why some folks just don't get it. There's surely something of Jack and Ennis in us all.
No movie has ever had an effect on me like BBM. I saw it for the first time last week and it still consumes my thoughts. It's so heartbreaking how they couldn't just be together. I hate that their last moments together were spent arguing.

Who knows what is the reall Love? How does Love look like? And how sometimes we can not appreciate and enjoy what we have at present.
Brokeback mountain was the Eternity but Jack wanted to bring the real Love to the commonness. Lucky someon who can distinguish the eternity and the commonness and keep them apart. Probably Jack died because he couldn't distinguish them. it's the great film.

The ending was the most saddest thing I have ever scene. Opens the closet, sees Jack's shirt with the last brokeback mountain post card, cherishes it, imagine's jack is wearing it, saying "Ur haircut looks weird", then imagine's about jack, closes the door and then walks away. That hit my heart sooooooo bad

It is weird and sort of funny (sad funny) in way because in the movie Brokeback Mountain, Jake who played Jack had died and Heath who played Ennis, didn't and was alone. However, in real life, Heath had died and Jake didn't. I just felt like pointing that out.

Gay women and men are still discriminated in most states. After all the strives forward humanity has made in the recent past, some things are still the same and some groups of people are still looked at as being inferior to others. No one should have to live like that

This has to be the greatest ever love story committed to film. Continuity errors abound but the acting, the sets, the screenplay - they all come together so powerfully that it's beyond me why some folks just don't get it. There's surely something of Jack and Ennis in us all.

No movie has ever had an effect on me like BBM. I saw it for the first time last week and it still consumes my thoughts. It's so heartbreaking how they couldn't just be together. I hate that their last moments together were spent arguing.
