  • Pretty cool item! I built several camper trailors using aluminum foam sandwitch board with incredible results. A weight of under 90 lbs with a window and special vents to size of 12 ft.long and 6 ft tall x 4ft wide. Pulled by my 3 wheel recumbent,it carried 600lbs or more! The small ones can weigh under 40 lbs and do much as yours does. Spent several years living in these designs. Most law enforcement types will move you around and harass you when traveling especially if your intending to camp.

  • ok it weights 50lbs and coust 3000dollors ok cool but the coust is high

  • Very cool bike trailer. Very cool.

  • I like that

  • I think it would also be feasible to build a trailer with two 4x8 foot sheets of aluminum, with a sheet of plywood bolted solidly to any sort of axle but in a way that the plywood serves as a leaf spring while you're rolling. I'm thinking, for urban living without paying rent; so, it would be a bit taller and wider, enough to sit up.

  • Thanks!

Send me mail: saholm(&)hotmail.com I can send you an address where is drawings and pictures.

  • hi, welldone in making the trailer it looks amazing, is there anyway of making a video explaining how to make it or showing us some plans or something anyway hope to hear from you soon, michael.

  • It's a good idea and would be great for camping or long-distance riding (500+km). But I see two problems with it:

    1) It needs a lengthwise side opening. The end opening isn't very convenient, not to mention too easy for assholes to cause the rider problems (see #2).

    2) The top or the frame, should include some means for locking the bike to the trailer. It would be nice to live in a civilized world without vandals and thieves, but too many assholes see cyclists as easy targets.

    .

  • if the trailer is a rockin dont come aknockin

  • Thanks! Come to test!

  • It's pretty good. Though does it rock much when you masturbate?

    LOL

Umm I'd be inclined to add a rounded front and a vertical V tail to minimise drag - the limited HP of people being what they is.

Nice job on the bending of the sheet.

Ummmmmmm does it have a shower, stove and toilet?

    More LOL.

  • I can imagine a future where this is the norm for vacations!

  • WOW that is Cool, thanks for posting

  • very very nice. how about a front wheel drive trike and incorporate your trailer into the bicycle. You could make a smooth nose cone and a tail cone too.

  • you did a fine job

  • id clam bake that up

  • That is the best bike camper I have seen. Wow what a cool idea.

  • I like that trailer but I personally would have done it a slight bit different. I've been contemplating building a bike trailer for camping but I've been considering a foldable trailer that can expand out to a nice size sleeping area yet be small when towing. Only reason I have not done it yet is because the roads here aren't very big, too many crazy stupid car drivers and no bike lanes or shoulders. Good job though!

  • The weight is 20 kg.

Its is made of birthplywood (1,5 mm).

Yes, I have made it. This costs about 1500 €.

The height of inside is 80 cm. For me it`s possible to sit in. My length is 173 cm.

Naturally it is possible to pull with a normal bicycle

    Thanks for your interest!

  • thanks alot for the information. and thank you for the video.

  • Hi there. How heavy is your bicycle camper???? Do you know what its made of????

How much did it cost to buy or did you make it?????And is it roomy with enogh room to sit up in it?????? Its realy good i like it. Can you pull it with a normal bicycle???? If you do awnser my questions thanksyou and thankyou for putting your video on youtube

  • If you want a drawing about biketrailer, send me a mail to saholm(&)hotmail.com

  • @sajohol

    email sent.

    :-)

  • Curved surfaces, looks to be incredibly lightweight, looks rvery nice. This must have taken many many hours to build. Great work! I think I will stay with a folding fabric shelter like a ...tent. Could use a cargo trailer though and this video has given me some good ideas. Thanks

  • co2 is heavier than air which is why beds in previous centuries were higher. Make sure you have vent holes for CO2 to escape at bottom of van.

  • Can you send me the plans for that?

  • Noway im getting i there0.0

  • Man Homeless people are smart. Why cant they get a job and an apartment instead.

  • @timrocket2008

Man kids these days are smart. Why can't they go to school instead of commenting on youtube all day?

  • This is a great way too go off on LE GRANDE ADVENTURE add a e=bike 40volt 20 amp. Then go off looking 4 adventure. Itll look great with a sunroof,,,loneryder,,,xxx

  • if you make one bit wider, longer, taller etc then i'd buy one off you...

  • Thank You for Your kind words!

  • To the builder of this bike trailer, I commend YOU as a true individual. You are a pioneer, creating unique custom solutions and enjoying the fruits of your labor. YOU are the kind of pack leader we should all be. YOU would never be manipulated by health insurance to become a barista or WalMart greeter because YOU have a brain. Thank you for putting good stuff on youtube!

  • @OttoPharx Sir you have just insulted thousands of baristas! But wall mart greeters can not read so you did not insult them. ;P

  • great.. so you if have an accident.... your friends don't need to spend money in a coffin

  • @stabilini lol!!!

  • daaaamn i want that. would be much better if it was just one foot taller though

  • claustorphobia! lol

  • i like it a dry place to sleep, mite want a colapsable one

  • coffin on wheels.

  • I think it needs bigger windows!

  • I can appreciate the work gone into building this but cannot see the point.

You have the extra weight and wind drag. You also have less room than a 2 man tent.

Surely a 2 man tent, sleeping bag and mat would be far less trouble. I have sat 2 days in a tent but I would not fancy it in that trailer.

    Steve

  • i sympathize with the sardines now.

  • @SpikesScarletWitch

    Well said, my friend!

  • nice :)

  • lol

  • This is an excellent trailer. I wonder though if it would be possible to have a telescopic trailer that could be towed shortened then lengthened when needing a rest, perhaps with a pop-up tunnel tent and an air matress.

Either way this is very good.

  • @nigelseakayak GREAT IDEA.. BUT i'D MUST MAKE IT FRONT DRIVE AND REAR STEER.

AND STREAM LINE IT EVEN MORE.. THEN YOU BIKE OUT OF THE WEATHER..i MEAN HOW FAST CAN YOU SAFELY GO WITH A TRAILER..??

  • Very good and clean design. I've made very large campers in the past and it's true about being bothered by cops and unfriendly people. I lived for years in this way so I know how risky this is.

All I can say is keep it very clean and never be caught in highly populated areas at night!

  • its a bloody wheelie bin

  • Great trailor, well done! I really hope, that you have a lot of opportunities to enjoy it!

  • It can also double as a pretty cool coffin. Pulling that around on a bike should be enough to kill ya.

  • It's not very aerodynamic in the front but it is pretty nifty.

  • not really. i just watch the news and have google. thanks though.

like i said its youre ass and descision if you wanna live and travel in this attention getting thing.

if someone does or even me i wish them and me all the best. heck they could even metal detect for coins out of it for money. brian campbells bike house has a donation slot on his.

  • Now the lone bicyclist can masturbate in private without having to worry about his bike being stolen.

  • ahahaaa

  • Comment removed

  • theres always risks in everything in life. but my point was that it is much riskier now.

but hey if you wanna build a bike house then go for it i say. im not arguing against it. just things are not like they were. look to be ticketed for parking in the wrong spots constlantly or being hassled or awaken by other constlanty. dont put it past people that they wont try to destroy youre propery either just for mean ness either.

    thanks.

  • google, man shot in car sleeping.

there ya go. rolls eyes yet again. do i like the way things are today with all these killers and wars?. hell no. i loved the bike house idea myself.

  • Comment removed

  • no one runs around and does dumb bad shi#?. youre clearly a niave unknowing idiot.

the local news is filled with idiots doing evil everynight now. its not safe in a bikehouse. this isnt the 1970"s anymore.

the days of leaving youre doors open on youre house and street lights on meant come home are over thanks to idiots. so thumbs down to you.

  • good idea, i hope you getting rich soon

  • You may want to select a better place to camp next time. A big truck may come along and roll over you butt.

    lol

  • To bad you did not shear the plans.

  • Looks very functional, and easy to pull. I would use one on a trip.

  • Is that thing bear-proof?

  • 2 bad things are gtn so bad out there these days its almost to dangerous to build one these and live in it.unless theres no other option like some.

better make it have bullet proof sides so when you sleep at night or parked.

  • i want one

  • Weight , height , width, length , please?

  • nah the worst idea is 400 pound women in speedos. this was a great idea of freedom from chains.

  • Comment removed

  • Lets see the one you Built

  • thats pretty neat. since we all die anyways

"material things" are nice, but are pretty much pointless..the camperbike idea solves a lot of those problems. brian campbell has one hes lived in for 13 years.

  • you can see brians bikehouse at search, "bicycle trailer".

  • my god id buy one of them would you sell it

  • coffin on wheels....

  • That's a beaut! I'd be claustrophobic in it, personally, but it's still a nice design. Looks like it can easily handle winter weather. :)

  • The wheels are from a wheelchair.

  • That's pretty cool. I was thinking about making something similar to pull behind my recumbent trike. I was thinking of making an aluminum frame that the wheels would attach to and that the body would mount on. The body would be more of a pop-up design and made from structural insulated panels made from fiberglass and foam insulating board. Where did you get your wheels from?

  • The length is 200 cm and the width 80 cm.

  • sajahol , what are the dimensions?

  • It looks like a big trashcan.

  • HELL YEA!!! I saw one of these type of caravans in a popular science magazine from the 40's, or 50's. It's an awesome idea that should catch on with cyclists on the nature trails. If anyone wants to see the old picture I have of the 1950's mini-caravan, let me know.

  • The bike is locked to the biketrailer.

  • what will happen it somebody steals your bike while your sleeping?

  • Well, its got a roof..I dont know bout how it would handle rain..Got any lacker on it? any protection?

  • It´s lacquered boatvernish and it´s nearly waterproof!

  • awesome!!

  • Great video this could be a great lil home for homeless people. They could collect cans and bottles in the trailer collect their money then take this to the wash clean it out dry it off and get some rest. Perhaps make a basket on top for can collecting prevent soiling the interior?

Or they can get a job take a shower outdoors in a enclosed shower, save all the money and own their own plot of land one day soon. Sad to say the only land many homeless end up owning is their grave.

  • oh yea...have you seen tent city? It is loaded, all over Canada and the US with thousands of homless people. The UK and France were doing documentaries about US and the homeless... the UK too, have problems with making paybacks to the bank after barrowing money from it- I am thinking that I need to be prepared, because you never know what could happen... I guess you need to know how to survive without living in the dirt. thanks for posting

  • I have been homeless (few days) but it can happen to hard working honest non-addicted people. I had someone steal my money and I was broke$ and injured it can happen very fast. It has changed me to where I don't want to buy things until I have my home paid for. Others that make as much as I do drive really nice rides live in big homes you name it and all I can do is think of paying off a piece of land with a trailer on it a mere 21k.

  • save a horse and wagon, ride a bicycle and trailer and never be homeless...by the way, raw food is a good alternative to cooked- I'm getting into that now

  • I rather not eat raw food there are health concerns.

Yet to see a homeless horseman with a trailer guess they would live in their trailer.

I have not been homeles more than a few days but if I ever was again rather than try to sleep on the park table again I would perfer this to a cop telling me to split. A tent hammock would work pretty good too in my fav there is a tree climber that sets a hammock in the tree top no cop will bother him there.

  • I love the tent hammock idea!! I watched it very closley, cdltpx, and I think everybody that is homeless should have one! your a genius for thinking of that- " A Tree Climber" awesome....

  • WE have a lot of people displaced by flooding. Folks are displaced by tornado hurricane earthquake. This 2.5lb structure would keep water off your back and get victim on his or her feet. Sumatra is building dome homes in place of the structures that were tsunamied. Dome b/c they are fast to build can be taught to build quickly and are strong enough to e/quake and hurricane safely. Cheaper than mud huts domes are the future they can be insulated with refuse sfoam found on Oceanside worldwide.

  • A dome...I will look into it... meanwhile I think I like the Tree climber much better; for 1 thing, it's light, easy, the material is on hand and you can be safe in a flood,or earthquake, which is a major concern for me in Cali...It's the bomb!

  • ALSO, I think the Tree Climber would keep dogs away which is another main concern, and camoflauged like yours. You could climb as high as you want, in fact you could use a rope ladder previously made and hung in case of an emergency...

  • The tree video is buried deep in my favorites Ill find it remove it and place back on the top of the pile it is that cool you will love it. later.

  • Done it now on the top of the list in favorites under "urban tree camping" the poster hasn't posted too much but this video is great. Guarantee you will love it I want to try this the rope is costly but can be used many times. I would like to attach a rope net in that tree JIC you slipped and make it a weekly haunt. They will not serve you any papers there.

  • Are you tryimg to say you are a vegan? B/c that would be differnt the food I eat must be prepared properly by cooking. Can't eat raw chicken and be too far from a hospitol you will need an iv to replace all the lost fluids.

  • what I mean is, if you had to go without meat, and a stove or fire of some kind, then you would have to put raw vegs, fruits, powdered protene drinks, wheat, and nuts together to make some kind of tasty meal and there are recipes for raw food all over you tube! It's the latest fab and besides, one girl says "it's better to thrive than to survive!" I guess you could carry these types of food in a bicycle trailer :-)

  • I knew I couldn't be the only one...I thought I was the only one to think of this and you did it! I am so impressed- I have been looking around for someone to have actually done this...so that I could construct one off of someone else's plan because I have no knowledge of how to go about it- thank you for sharing!

  • I want to put in a vote for an instructional video for any bike you've ever made.

every one of them is beautiful, and i'd like to see some details as to th insides and all the connections.

  • gooziddaiejoon:

    "didnt u suffocate in there?"

No at all, there is good ventilation!

  • didnt u suffocate in there?

    with that little window?

  • He looks like a Hot Dog in a bun...

  • This is an RV that I could enjoy with good karma.

  • And I am happy!

  • thanks " saj" ... Enjoy ..!

  • Nice .. ! How much does it weigh , what is the chassis made of ? You could sleep in there .. COOL !

  • The weight is 20 kg.

The chassis is polystyrene covered by 1 mm thinplywood.

  • I'm actually curious what the frame under the plywood / polystyrene is - steel or aluminium tubing , wood or .. ? thanks ..

  • The frame is made only wood, plywood and polystyrene.

  • RAD!

  • a very nice job. why not just make a bike truck.. and save a wheel.

  • Wood? Veneer over frame? How about coroplast or aluminum? Given me an idea, thanks!

  • Yes, it is wooden. The veneer is finish thinplywood (1 mm). I don`t know anything about coroplast. I think thinplywood is better than aluminium.

  • Wonderful! I'm all about it. I think everyone should have a version of that.

  • funny

  • Wonderful

  • Love it, nice smooth lines. Let us know if post up any plans or an instructable or summat, mine would need to be bit bigger though :)

  • Fantastic

  • Fucking WIN!

  • Heh, great way to travel :)
