  • stalin was georgian...

  • If you don't mind me asking, where did you get these? (:

  • Hahha!! "Awoooooooooo!!!!!" Wooof!!

  • 'The Ricker'!!!

  • I was Ricky's age when show aired. Now looking at Erin Gray ans wow I never knew how hot she was.

  • @eaglecoug I have another one for you: Connie Selleca from The Greatest American Hero. I'm 38 in 2011 so you're probably my age give or take. Anyway, I was watching the GA Hero theme for the MUSIC (honestly), and not only remember how hot Connie Selleca was, but how much my fiance looks like her when she has her hair tied up! Thing is, she's 30, from Brazil, and had no idea about GA Hero or Silver Spoons when she was a girl!

  • i love how his parents are incouraging him to meet some one on the computer he doesnt know

  • Had the same haircut as Rick in 1984 and just as thick. What a drag it is getting old . . . Great show. Still makes me laugh.

  • Ha ha ha ha, is that Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air at 0:42 seconds? Ha ha ha ha ha ha

  • @Rufskin13 Yep. Alfonso Ribero.

  • i still have a huge crush on the father in this series...he's sooooooooo handsome!

  • 1980's...THE GREATEST DECADE EVER!!!!

  • They should have had "To Catch a Predator" back in the 80's

  • wow times have changed, now adays that could be a pedo! and that was like pre historic IM's

  • @InYudeBaybee duhh yu retard

  • at least there was still an air of innocence among kids back then, this world is so sadistic and kids are exposed to so much, you have to protect them from all elements all of the time.

  • YO! Did you see SPEEEEEEEEEEEED with which that girl answered his request?!

These days, at 14, even with Chasebook and all that jazz, you NEVER get such a response without consequences, son! Ah, the early days of internetting and 80s niavete; PRICELESS!

  • wait is that carlton?

  • So CHATTING was previously called GROKKING...sounds much better...Lemme text my ex to grok in facebook now, so that she may like to see my crok again,,,,,LMAO

  • LMAO! Dam I miss the 80's! I remember this shit HAHA! I was so jealous because Rick had video games in his house.

    LOOOOOOOOOL @ Carlton Banks

Now adays L.G would stand for Lady Gaga!

TV, movies, and music were the BEST in the 80's!

Somebody get me a time machine!

  • I remember when computers were this primitive

  • Hahahaha, before Apple's GUI pioneering.

  • when life is grand!

  • excessive, obnoxious laugh tracks always bugged me and still do. I saw The Champ in movie theatres at that time and developed such a crush on him (we are 1 yr apart) that despite the laugh tracks and corniness, would watch every episode of this show. And back then, Alfonso was still referred to as *that Thriller kid* :) I was never on Grok but I still have an AOL for DOS 3.5 disk. :x

  • "After these messages" I miss that!!

  • fuck CARLTON WANNA BE WHITE ASS NIGGA

  • boring

  • what makes this even more funny if they re did this show now he would have been asked for a pic over a cell phone lol

  • lmao wow it really bugs me out i never knew online dating was possible or even i.m and i was a 80's babe

  • Joel Higgins and Rick still keep in close contact to this day

  • Great Memories! Although I was in pre-school and elementary, remember it clearly and had such a crush on Alfonso!

  • Everything was so carefree back then. I love it! I wish i was around back then!

  • @DanielleOsborn1

Not really. Unemployment was at 10% in 83', Reagan could have gotten us into a nuclear war with Russia, there were proxy wars in Afghanistan and central America, little was known about AIDS and there were no medications as there are today, the crime rate was at an all-time high because of the crack epidemic...I could go on.

Things are only worse now because there has been 25 more years for us to destroy the environment and cause more extinction of other species.

  • @1234Molotov and to produce more crack and it's variant...

  • 5:03 "Hey look, you got mail!" Does anyone else see the irony in that statement?

  • although my ass was not around in the 80s til 89..I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

i wish this and other 80s shows hadnt went off On Demand...i swear i belong in the 80s..

    Thanks for posting UncleScrooge! =)

  • LOVE the opening song!

  • @VideoVixen24 I know. Me, too. > :-)

  • Hahahaha...

Edward is so funny.....Rick dad is cool...

I love it how that girl was daydreaming if she meant the Rickier...

Why? did Rick wear that green bann around his head thank God he took that thing off right away.

Wow You look better in person.

    Rick-Yeah! I do....lol...

    So funny...

  • Back when meeting someone on the internet was safer

  • What are they all laughing at in the opening credits?

  • hey @UncleScrooge i have season one. do you think you could upload stuff from season 2???

  • ya know......if they had done a Fantastic 4 movie back in the 80ies the father would have made a good Reed Richard.

  • Erin Gray is hot!

  • pre-pubescent carlton!

  • I love this show when I was growing up and I still do if it was playing

  • fucking 80s........awesome as always

  • dammm its the internet mannn

  • Yeah, Rick's friend is the one and only "Carlton" of "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" fame. Watching this just shows you what good acting Alfonso did on "Fresh Prince". In this clip, he's talking in his natural voice (before puberty, mind you) - with his natural New York accent. On "Fresh Prince", he spoke with a very good "Uptight L.A. Prep School Nerd" accent. It was great, lol.

  • Can I get all seasons.........????

  • Rick Schroder was really fantastic in this series. I used to love it because I was the same age and I really connected with his character. You don't see a lot of kids this age that can really carry a comedy series and be the star. Usually kid actors just play 'the kids' and show up once and a while with a funny line. Schroder deserves a lot of credit.

  • wow i miss the 80s

  • I love the 80's a father actually encouraging their son to go meet a stranger from the internet!!!

  • @TheRuby5511 that is too funny.... the 80s u have to love it...

  • My God..The innocence of it all.

  • rick is i-chatting

  • Alfonso Ribeiro is soooo hott :)

  • Ah yes, another episode that reminded kids like me how poor our parents where.

  • @bkgartist lmao!!!!!

  • Early version of the internet hey

  • hahahah grocking

  • wow the days before the laptop

  • One of my favorite shows as a kid- an after school mainstay..................

  • The 80's were *sooooo* different. People laugh at Silver Spoons or how naive the kids were, but all the shows back then were like this!

All the shows were carefree, about having fun. This was before a lot of media fear and fear of the internet.

Also, Erin Gray, what a hot 80's mom!!

  • jb2134..

it's a laugh box. welcome to the real world

  • @jb2134 yeah; my, how times have changed!

  • @lol21432 not for the better.

  • @jb2134 Erin Gray was gorgeous, havent seen her lately..i remember her doing shampoo commercials back then :)

  • @jb2134 i think she and joel higgins make a stunning on-screen pair. they just look like a perfect match together.

  • I always thought the father on here was a little strange

  • go play hangman... with a real noose...

haha just like today's internet users xD

  • I love how Ricks father tells him he should meet her. Now days, he would tell him not to meet her in fear that Rick is talking to a pedophile!!!

  • @steve001010 That would have made a better episode with a strong message. But this was the 80's!

  • @steve001010 actually , it would be an undercover cop pretending to be a 12 year old girl lol

  • This was before the internet. The actual internet.

  • this takes me back!!

  • I loved this show!!!!

I have season one on DVD. They need to release all the other seasons to DVD!

  • I'm all for calling guys out on their issues but Ricky's stepmom CANNOT act like women don't care what guys look like. She knows that we all look at their hair, build, teeth, and under their fingernails (so that we know if we should sanitize our hands after shaking theirs) lol.

  • i liked how the father left back out the room and knocked on the door that was nice.

  • Good ol' BBS. You whippersnappers don't know about that, eh? :) Anyway, I used to watch this show just to gawk at Erin Gray, LOL.

  • I wanted to do Erin Gray so bad back then!!

  • There's a LOT of young kids on here that don't remember bulletin board systems! Oh, does that make me feel old... Well, all you under 30 people, before the world wide web, there was a bulletin board system that worked like chatrooms, as shown by the show... Oh, I can't believe I'm having to teach kids about the 1980's!!! The irony of it all is that back in the 1980's the "oldsters" used to tell me about the 1960's!

  • wait a minute how the mother fuck did they have "networks" back then i dont remember that

  • That was the BBS. Yes, those did exist back then, but just like in the show, you HAD to be rich to afford those things!

  • @pika62221 yeah i remember in "Pretty in Pink" ('85 flick), where Molly Ringwald's character was chatting on a computer in the library...and yes computers then were expensivo!

  • WAIT a second they had SOME form of an interent back then? =O

  • We had a little something called Telnet

  • WOW!! I never knew this. Fascinating.

  • Telnet?? We dialed up computer to computer directly on a Bulletin Board System, which is what the Ricker's doing..

  • because its pre windos dos, made around when "war games" came out

  • There is no color on the P.C man...

  • lol this show is actually funny

  • Chest hair is out, smooth is in.

  • real men do not shave

  • Don't Kate and Edward know how to fucking KNOCK???? Cripes.

  • Ricky's laugh @ 2:01 = priceless.

  • OMG, this is so wonderful! I love it!! I noticed at 8:35 someone says "I Love You" too funny!!

  • I want to try out a Bulletin Board System.

  • Yeah, they're called message boards now. I'm betting you've been on one already.

  • can u please put up episode

"Trouble with Words" OR DOES ANY ONE KNOW WERE I CAN FIND IT???

  • haha fonso

  • I wonder if I ever spanked it to Erin Gray as a kid. She's a fuckin hottie.

  • She was really hot on Buck Rogers; especially in that space suit.

  • i love tube time!!!

  • i use to watch this everyday on channel 24 in milwaukee

  • omgggg, alfonso is so cute :)

  • LOL, that's funny

  • LOL @ prehistoric computer dating, lol

  • OMG, I loved Silver Spoons, I had such a major crush on Rick Schroder

  • where am i

  • man i can toattly see alfonso's acting style in this, he is sooooooooooooo cool

  • 3 years after Franklyn Seales finished this, he died of AIDS.

  • Comment removed

  • last time i watched this i was 87years old.

  • Wow this show circa "1984" is quite eerie how it foretold the future 25 years later.

  • they only had the 14teen k modem back then

  • Ahhhh,.... THATS who it is my ballet teacher used to remind me of,.... the dad in this show. I could never place it.

Dad messed up with the Elenore Roosevelt tout.

  • yeah i remember this little bitch, the mother fucker had everything.

  • I was the same age as Rick Schroder and had the biggest crush on him he was so cute.

    Memories, Memories:)

  • id never let my kid meet no one online. unless i met them and knew they where for real.

  • Things were very different 25 years ago.

  • Wow-that's a bold statement! I think there are worst things we should worry about kids watching on youtube than Silver Spoons-like all the trashy porn spam! Besides, most kids are too young to even know that this show even exists. I think most of the people who really watch these old episodes (if you will notice by people who have commented here) are adults. Why take away from us?

  • Wow, could you maybe over react a little more.

  • OMG is that Carlton from Fresh Prince? It is, It is Carlton from Fresh prince thats hilarious man LOL!!!!

  • if they could have seen the future like 20 years later wonder if they'd air this show haha

  • actually it was ep 27.. but was still on season 2, which began with episode 23

  • Mr. President was Episode 33 from Season 2, where Ricky imagines himself as president during a class.

  • Hey, I noticed that Silver Spoons Season 1 is available on DVD now but I was wondering if episode 27 entitled "Mr. President" was on the 1st season. I am thinking it may have been in season 2. Does anyone know ?

  • can anyone tell me why they called it grocking?

  • After you tell me how Alfonso knew to say "you got mail."

  • And we have Youtube now. Rick's now appearing in a new made for T.V movie...is it Journey To The Center of the Earth?

  • Ricky Schroeder, the man who introduced the world to the internet!!!!!

    Forever in history!

  • Wow i remeber this episode, he had the internet! Way before the internet was common, you had to be super rich to have the net , let alone know what it was.

  • it looks like a BBS

  • this is very enlightening... i'm going to yahoo that term 'grocking' to see what if that is still used today... i'm trying to find myself here in cyberspace, see what i really am...

  • grocking??? please tell me they didn't say that. although, being the 80's i'd believe it. i was only 5 when this episode was made. i didn't even know they had chatting on a computer back then. i saw an earlier episode from 1982 where he's talking about computers being the wave of the future and that one day we'd do our shopping on them. nice prediction. considering where technology was at that time, it's amazing they thought of being able to shop on a computer in the future.

  • I never heard that term used once. Only very few people chatted I'm sure and they all were that rich I'd bet. But other than computers it was all better back then. It's mostly now that you have dumb terms, shows, music etc.

  • yah, i got the season 1 dvd set and saw that episode you're talking about ...when Ricky said all that about banking and shopping on computers, it was rather spooky watching it in 2009. didn't think they would have predicted that in the early 80s.

  • @Siobanphotogirl hmm gotta see that episode!

  • Cheap drum heads...

  • I had a boner for erin grey when I was small haha

  • i smell early perverts

  • I don't. You must be real messed up.

  • i meant when they first made internert n 80s

  • WOW parents supporting there kid to meet someone over the internet...

  • BBS was the simpler version of the "Internet"....way before Youtube or any of Dell software came into effect. It was actually much faster to use, too.

  • This is actually the BBS (Bulletin Board System). You could call this the "internet" of the 80s. I remember dialing into different BBS across our city. It was actually pretty fast because there were no graphics, if there were, it was really simple. It was really cool.

  • this is true, i remember people in the early 90s using these too

  • How did they have the internet in the early 80's?

  • grocking?...

  • i second that

  • Eu sou do Brasil. não foi esse seriado que o ex-menudo Ray participou?

  • yeah the ricker should go play hang man with a real noose! lol

  • This show was a little ahead of its times. The classic example is when the Ricker and his friends are watching porn by using some controlled channel in the living room to make it access without the parental mode.

  • the ricker invented the internets

  • Oh, no. The 80s movies will always rule. You can't stop the classic 80s movies like Back To The Future, The Lost Boys, etc.

  • Those movies were great, and classic. But in all honesty, had movies like 300, Lord Of The Rings, Kill Bill, Sin City, and Spiderman come out back then... people would have been astonished. Yes, we have superior technology now, but our TV and music is worse today than it was back then. Only movies are doing their job.

  • I agree with you. We have way superior technology today but todays tv shows are horrible & the music is way way worse....HORRIBLE. To be honest i haven't watched a television show in years. Bring back good ol' shows like the Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider, The Fall Guy, Dallas etc.......& the list goes on & on. We were also very poor back in the '80s so i didn't get to enjoy the cool toys alot of kids enjoyed back then like the Transformers etc...but now i can a little.

  • Cheesy? Are you guys kidding me? People in real-life are cheesy too, just in a different way. Unlike today's tv shows, which are fake and cheesy in their own way... at least this show was fun and funny. The 80's was the pinnacle of entertanment on television and music. Only movies have actually gotten better, and that was only in this decade. Stop trying to be cool, that makes you uncool.

  • you know. . . the beginning shot of the house.. . . you think they'd have a betetr looking lawn with a fountian or something.

  • the laughs in the background are sooo cheezee!!!!! lol

  • oh god I used to watch this?

  • internet perverts lol

  • Geez the 80s was soo innocent. Meeting up with a stranger you met online definitely wasn't what it's like nowadays. Edward and Kate were actually persuading lil Rick to go meet up with a stranger without having any negative thoughts whatsoever...

  • agreed, ritchit. Amazing, to think that this cheesy show probably handled internet dating before any other, and I am guessing this is from 1985?

  • I recall a Three's Company episode where Jack tried 'computer dating'. The episode was circa 1982, IIRC.

  • wow they used the internet back then in the 80s amazing

  • i don't recall pinkie rings on teenagers as being "cool" in the 1980's.

  • I used to think the father was a weirdo

  • Yeah hes still alive dumb ass he plays on 24 with Keifer Sutherland

  • Hey! isnt ricks friend there the guy that played Carlton on Fresh Prince!?!?

  • Yeah thats him.

  • It's funny to see the innocence of talking to strangers on the internet at this time. The father actually encourages ricky to talk to a random girl he "grocks" with! I guess child predators didn't exist yet.

  • lol pre internet

  • "R.I.P. Ricky Schroeder"? He's still around silly. Maybe you were referring to his career ;)

  • R.I.P. Ricky Shroder

  • Is there any chance to get this on dvd?

  • The first season DVD was released Tuesday (the 19th). It needs to sell well though in order for Sony to release further seasons.
