@kolokidi I dont think it's 'jealousy' per se. It's just, the Greeks who left are probably more Greek than the ones who stayed. The ones who left clung onto their culture and traditions, where the ones in Greece who stayed want to feel connected to the rest of the world.

I liked the movie and I love Andrea Martin, but the WASP parents were always depicted as being frozen/paralyzed/clueless etc which I thought was both unfair and inaccurate. Real WASPs would have been trying relentlessly to be chatty and smiling and sociable to smooth over any awkwardness.
