I was there that day the german Deitrich Thurau rode with several laps to go and won alone, GB's Sid Barras got second, Merckx 3rd , the bunch sprint saw Francesco Moser 4th, cant remember the rest but Ocana , Poulidor, Sercu were all there.

Moser must have been 5th, I had forgotten Thurau had a lap out with mechanical trouble , technically he should not have won , was a long time ago memory fails.

Everythings in the headline.Glenryck Cup june/july 77.East London.This guy thurau has been trying to get away from the best in the world for a while,he gets away in the end ,Merckx was tired ,lots of travelling not good for racing.the laps are all 2:15-2:20 for a mile and its faster than it looks
