Sing from your stomach and be careful to not strain your voice at the top of your range. Warming up is kind of a necessity if you wanna sing, but I think that if you sing a couple of songs lazily before you actually start singing is fine. :] Good luck.

Just a tip, you never "sing from your stomach", the muscle you're thinking of is called the diaphragm, which separates your chest from your abdomen. As for singing "lazily", it's better to warm up using actual vocalise exercises -- it's the same principle as warming up before you do any physical activity, you need to get the muscles going before you really use them. Going up and down a scale (DoReMi...) singing vowels is a good place to start :)
