  • You are quite correct.

I don't recall which civilizations and what years / ages this happened but I do remember that fermented brews were much safer back then than the alternative of drinking the local water.

If I remember my history correct, some had a weaker ale / wine as a general daily drink and then they had a stronger ale / wine in the evening for merry making.

  • @DrunkenAnglers I think it was England I believe the Low Strength beer was a called a short beer and the Higher Strength a Long Berr. Thanks for watching

  • Good work mate. All grain is like liquid sex. Bloody awesome!!! Looking forward to the videos.

  • Can't wait to see your all-grain vids! Cheers!

  • Heya GentleArts. Welcome to the wonderful and confusing world of all grain. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. I have done it without spending a ton of money on equipment and I get great beers. Glad to help.

    Cheers

  • Hangover,What's That? No such thing as hangovers form home brew here! Cheers!

  • I'm a kit brewer that has just gone all grain i use a method known as Brew in a bag (biab) it's a one vessel brewing using a swiss voile polyester bag to put the grain it. have a look at it on youtube it's not a bad way to get started

  • on the flip side .. the canadian ministry of public health also states that binge drinking or alcoholic tendencies start at " 3 or more alcoholic beverages in one sitting , more than 3 times in a 7 day period " ... according to that .. i think about 90% of my friends are alcoholics ..

  • the Canadian Heart and Stroke research centre has for several years stated that its GREAT for the'ol ticker to have TWO alcoholic beverages per day .. just the relaxing properties and slowing the HR down along with the vasodialation and more oxygenated erythrocytes perfusing the heart allows it to not really heal .. but its just good .. beer makes your heart happy .. i cant fully explain it .. but any more than two is supposed ot be bad ..

  • @DGrahamEMTA Does it matter how big the glass is?

  • I started out with all-grain brewing, and it's not hard.. it just adds another 90min to your brew time with the mashing and sparging. My only suggestions are keep an eye on your temps, and use a good software app for creating your recipes. I use "BrewTarget" and it's great, you can really play with a lot of ideas, and it tells you if it it would be "malty or hoppy" as well as the usual ABV and even calories per serving. It's fun stuff. Ditch the cans, man! And have fun with your new gear! :)

  • @tim78704 Can't wait to ditch the cans.

  • Very cool, Gentle! Looking forward to seeing your progression into All Grain! I am sure you know this already, but Terpsikoreankid has the best All Grain how to videos, IMO. Cheers!

  • Hi Gentle, I'm in exactly the same place as you in taking that jump and will be watching with interest, looking forward to it, Ulllaa.

  • @joctcl Good luck joctci. May we bother master it.

  • I just did my first all grain batch the other day. I cant wait to see the videos.

  • looking forward to the vids getting into all grain myself

  • I highly recommend using the BIAB all grain method. All grain beer with minimal investment.

  • @bmeyer44Yeer I'm thinking BIAB but instead of a bag maybe a stainless steel insert?

  • @thegentlearts hard to squeeze the wort out of a stainless steel insert

  • Looking foward to the series Gent, as I could also look at trying AG in the future. Cheers 17

  • @WHUFC91 Hope U like it 17

  • Wow, this is gonna be a great series. You bring up a great point concerning the health benefits of drinking all grain beer as opposed to extract. However as soon as you surpass over 1 beer a day, the benefits go down the drain. How many of us are guilty of that lol?

  • @MrAndysGotIt I would have to plead guilty LOL

  • Hoppy New Year! Congratulations on your decision to go all grain. As Glitch mentions, its not hard at all and there are lots of good YouTube videos on how to do it.

  • @BrewinandQin Been busy watching a lot of them. Most of the vids use imperial measurments which is like another language for us Aussies. I will be doing my vids in both.

  • @BrewinandQin Looking forward to it.

  • I like the Health idea , All-Grain for a Healthy You I'm going to try that one on my old lady .

  • @ricktech44 Worked for me. What she doens't know won't hurt her LOL

  • hell yeah man! all grain is easy. just a few details about mashing you gotta learn when you get in to it. can't wait to see the vids!

  • @glitch777 Thanks Gltich
