  • "He's using his left hand. The guy's amphibious!"

  • Comment removed

  • Match turns just before 21:00 when he gets up to shoot and just starts banging away. You can tell he just has lost his luster and he's just getting down and firing

  • "I think he'd take that Danny" ... Danny:"He has to, its the rules"

    LMAO!

  • @RayTX1337 Truly legendary.

  • Earl should just start to bring a book so he has something to do that doesn't make him look as mentally handicapped as he is.

Ralph seems to be intentionally playing at a snails pace just because he knows it drives earl up the wall.

But he's hilareous to watch. :)

  • to me earl is not worth watching. he is bad for the game in my eyes. he is like a child, but, to each his own

  • the music during the chalk off, ''tips for your game'' is class :D

  • Earl's biggest problem is that he gives up on himself. And as a defensive mechanism, starts trying to rattle the other player, which always backfires. You would think that he would have figured that out by now. Don't get me wrong, I admire him, but he is so moody.

  • !!

  • turning point is earl-the-baby missing the early easy side-pocket shot, after that it is all pouting and bullshit shots by the big baby while the real pro plays. Nice job Souquet

  • Who is the "professional sports jackass" who contributed BCN's comments about Earl Strickland? BCN must have had plenty of morons to choose from to represent them.

The turning point was when Souquet got seven or eight lucky breaks in a row.

  • actually he was just being more obscure, amphibious is still an appropriate statement considering what the definition is...***giving you time to look it up***...ya see? youre the fools.....

  • hahahah strickland is so funny. he was sleeping once hahah :)

  • @fruCable Souquet methodically ate Stricklands ass up! Stricklands childish attitude of not watching the game is pure balogna....if you can't take it ....just play something else or don't go public by video....what a whimp ...

  • ooooh this soquet. he plays so f*** slow! i can't believe it. he looks for every shot 5x times omfg!!! -.-

  • fuck earl

  • The simple truth about this is that after Earl missed that easy 3 ball in the side in an early game he was so furious with himself that he lost the match on purpose just to punish himself.

  • Minutes 15-17, they keep showing Earl sitting in his chair. He looks like he's sitting in the "dunce" chair, put there for trying to put his hand up a girl's dress....

(actually, he looks like a beagle who wet on the floor and is being punished).

  • earl wasn't hugged enough as a child.lmao

  • everytime earl got up he looked like he was gonna full over

  • "He froze on it, now he's gone back to sleep" lol

  • earl has fucken AD HD fucken cry baby

  • @DEVAN4LIFE nah he just shows his emotions too much, he is very competetive, what can i say?

  • @RyanWatchesNaruto yea, maybe i was a little harsh but still, if he just went out and had a good heart then maybe he would win haha

  • Why does Souquet take so damn long just to underhit or get poor position on a shot?

  • Diliberto > Incardona

  • "Anyone who hates losing wants to win." Wow!

  • the commentateers need to get off earls dick they dont stop talkin about him even when hes sittin down

  • lol does anybody think that strickland is hung over?

  • Great match.

  • I don't think earl strickland woke that morning

Knowing that Souquet was gonna vaccinated

    earl Gacho!!!

  • 14:38..

"Great recovery though, but has he landed on the 4?... Well it's not bad! I think he'd take that Danny."

"Well he has to, it's the rules."

hahaha, I love Danny DiLiberto =D

  • whats with the gloves...lol?

  • 34:06 the guy is "Amphibious" hehe...

  • Comment removed

  • souquet is the most boring player to watch EVERRRRRR! He's a great player though.

  • @theknockin

    if you think so..

  • may I ask why they put the red spots on the cue ball?

  • @KennethlongnecK Shows intentional and unintentional spin.

  • What do you mean? like if a player was to play a shot with spin accidently it would be a foul?

  • its just to see spin on the cue ball. Its makes it easier for us to know what spin they use. Its also a great learning tool. plus its nicer then looking at a solid white ball.

  • hey thanks for ALL your comments guys very helpfull, thanks again

  • i cant believe earl he has a fantastic natural ability, however his behaviour is disgusting, in snooker here in the uk he would be up in front of a disciplinary hearing and fined for unsporting behaviour

  • ive been watching 9 ball for a while now but i dont understand theres a winners & loosers bracket but a player can still go on to win the tournament from the loosers bracket if he has allready lost a match?? can someone be kind enough to explain many thanks

  • yeah thats rite. you just have to play more people

  • @palmer3977 It's a way to do double elimination. When a player loses their first match they get moved to the "losers bracket". Where they play other players who have lost their first match. If you lose in the loser bracket, you're eliminated. If you win, you progress onto someone who lost their first match farther along the winners bracket than you. When you make it to the final match, if you're playing someone who hasn't lost yet, you actually have to beat them twice.

  • @waycoobeens I call it upper-lower rule

  • @palmer3977 Once to put them into the loser bracket, and again to eliminate them. Hope this helps you understand. :)

  • Danny knows the difference between ambidestrous and amphibiouos, just as Yogi Berra knew when he was making malapropisms. He said that because it would be funny, and that's part of the reason he's a co-commentator. Indeed, Yogi is mentioned often by Danny.

  • 34:00 I think Danny meant ambidextrous, not amphibious haha

  • I think the problem with Strickland is he's let his fame go to his head. It's as if he thinks he's too good for everyone, and doesn't have to put effort into the game and can still win. That sort of attitude is barely acceptable in a pool hall, much less tournaments with the best players in the world.

I can't deny Strickland's talent, and I don't think anyone can. But his sportsmanship simply sucks.

  • hes a legend of the game whos aging a bit and is not winning like he use to so the only fun he gets out of pool now is to go out there and act like a phsyco. mabye he is one..........NUff SAID!

  • Hm. Cant get it to play any farther than 30:04. cant move the counter either, it goes right back to the same place.

  • Your the fucking idiot. Beating up someone and getting visually mad in a game is nothing alike, and your comparison and use of the word "nigga" shows your intelligence level is low.

  • its "you're" not "your", you lowlife cretin.

so you are saying that earl strickland calling ralf souquet a "fucker" to his face after a mosconi cup match is ok? not to mention all the other players and officials he has verbally abused.

actually, no point in talking any sense into you, illiterate yank. fuck you, fuck your family, fuck every other yank you know, hope they all drop dead asap.

and you are as much of a dick as your friend strickland.

  • Your reply shows how unhappy you must be in your life. I pity you, nothing more nothing less.

    Good bye : )

  • Earl is not the dick you all make him out to be.

He's just a stressed out guy during these matches. This is the most stressful point in his life basically, as his life is pool. So this when he will be the most aggravated.

Also his antics as most call them are like over 20 years, so 6 or 7 little remarks during 20 years makes him a jackass? Come on now :P

  • another idiot trying to rationalize rude inappropriate behavior.

so by the same logic you put forward, a person who lives to 100 and has a "nigga moment" and beats up someone on the street should be excused?

well if you think that way, i hope you are the "someone" on the receiving end one day, lets see if that changes your mind.

  • Ever heard of forgiveness? No one is perfect. We all do stupid things. Many people do bad and then turn it around for themselves, which is good for everyone else as well.

Why do you hate people so easily? Be more positive. Give people a chance.

I forgive you for making rude comments about "yanks" and I am an American. See how easy that was.

    Now you try.

  • why do i need you to forgive me for making statements of fact?

  • They aren't fact. It is your opinion. If you can't understand my simple point, then there is no reason in you. Maybe one day when you are older you will understand a basic concept.

Until then, have fun with your miserable, pessimistic life.

  • well fuck you anyway asshole. and for that matter, fuck your mother too.

  • lol your insults confirm that I am right and they are just your opinions and not fact.

    Thanks for that. I needed a pick-me-up.

  • earl is such a dick

  • Funny, the camera was on Earl, then panned to the left to check out the hot babe!

  • I'd really hate to play Souquet.I would be bored also.Yes,he plays perfect. But he certainly needs a shot clock.

  • imagine if there was a player who had ralf souquets attitude and discipline, with earl stricklands raw talent and killer instinct, oh, i think i just described vanboening.

  • Id give that title more to Immonen then VanBoening.

  • another disgraceful performance by earl

  • I love watching Souquet play. He's so methodical and just plays his best no matter what.

  • The babe behind Earl is pretty hot!

    ]

  • Earl has such a pissy attitude. Grow up and play like a man.

  • I like watching Strickland shoot. He mentioned in one of the videos on here that pool should be played quickly because it's more exciting that way and I agree. I'm a fast player but sometimes it gets me in trouble.

  • it's annoying to see Strickland shoot quickly.

  • Would you rather watch Dick Lane or Jimmy Wetch play?

  • did you watch the old videos with strickland ? he used to be smiling all the time, always happy.. nowadays he is so stubborn and angry :ß

  • the reason why earl is acting this way nowadays is because he is aging hahaha, his mind may still be sharp but his physique isn't responding well.......still he can't accept that he is out of his prime.

  • good theory ;) i totally agree. Orrrrr... my theory.. Lack of sex =p

  • I feel sorry for you people who are so focused on earls attitude/behavior etc. Hes only human and its only pool! just pay attention to what he does with the pool balls and you might learn a few things kid!

  • attitude of a champion should not be like that. watching him just hitting the ball and showing a grumpy face makes the pool fans think, even the commentators noticed it, it is sad that one of the greatest in this field is doing such a thing. sorry earl.

  • yeah i actually seen him playing in a small time tournament the smoky moutain shoot out, i mean what the hell is a world champion playing in that tournament, and he didnt even get close to winning it. what the hell????

  • "He's gonna shoot it left-handed- the guy's amphibious"- rack 13. My favourite quote so far...

  • Yes, that's one of Danny's favorite expressions.

  • @BClub really? Amphibious? shouldn't it be ambidexterous?

  • @HBRevive yes, but that's why it's his favorite...

  • @BClub I laughed my ass off the first time I heard him say "amphibious", but it DOES make a little sense metaphorically, so I doubt he meant to say ambidextrous. (Even though it sounds better ((and avoids questioning))

  • @moppettshow Haha, knowing Danny it might've been a nerdy reference to the famous Yogi Berra quote, "He hits from both sides of the plate. He's amphibious." Would've gone over the heads of many young viewers including myself, but either way, Yogi innovated that one.

  • I'm used to watching snooker, so Souquet doesn't appear to be all that slow; if you want to see painfully slow cuesports then watch Peter Ebdon...

  • strickland is a crybaby

  • Earl goes to sleep during the match lol

(He has no respect for Ralph's game)

  • lol @ at the "ralph is too boring" comments ^_^

Souquet is amazing- I love watching him deliver with such precision- one of the best ever no doubt

  • Praise is absolutely due to both of these players. But let's face facts. If you had 64 Ralph's in a tournament and in the other tounament you had 64 Earl's which one would sell out? Earl would of course. He's the John McEnroe of pool. People flock to see him because they get great pool and maybe a blow up or melt down. He's never boring and you will always get your monies worth by going to see him play.

  • souquet is one of the best player in the world. strickland plays to fast. he is doing to many mistakes. and he is an asshole. billard doesnt need those player.

  • i second that... in fact i will repeat something that Peter Ebdon - snooker pro player - said once in an interview " We're professionals and all we care about is to win, not to satisfy the people in the room or the viewers at home "!!!

All those people bitching about speed.. the man delivers flawless pool, so if he needs to take a few more seconds to think his table plan or to shoot a ball that's fine with me. Get a grip people, that's pool and not NBA!!!

  • Thats why Peter Ebdon used sharking tactics against Ronnie. He didn't have the talent to win so he cheated. Personally I prefer Earl because he at least has talent at what he does. Ebdon will always be second rate.

  • No doubt, Strickland is one of the cockiest players in the game.. but he's also one of the best, and nobody can deny his talent. I can't stand his attitude though. Souquet on the other hand is a superb player, text book example of a professional.

  • Souquet is one of the most boring players of all time. He could be the best player on the planet and still no one would care because watching him infests the soul with boredom. When I see him play, it demotivates me to work on my game.

Seeing him interviewed is an equally uninspiring where he talks with pride about his paper toilet seat covers!

There is nothing that demotivates me more on playing pool than watching Ralph Souquet.

  • Absolutely!

I think I never wanna watch Souquet play. His pace is tooooo slow, don't know what else can he think of even that is a wide open table. Souquet is so boring.

  • your so right... this ralph is boring... we really dont need more of him in the league,, if new players watch him play they would probably drop pool in a heartbeat... but also earl needs to be more mature his like 40, he needs to be more educated with his actions...

  • Earl the best player in the World !!!!!

  • Souquet plays brilliant.... People that say he plays too slow are all hackers.... he plays at a great pace and is faster than Johnny Archer by far

  • @Oceanviewbilliards Also important to note, pool is not a game of speed. The player who plays the fastest doesn't win. The person who plays the best does and speed does not effect that. Some players play fast, some slow, it's part of their game, but it's not a negative factor to play slow.

  • Muy bueno el europeo si señor!!

  • Whilst Souquet obviously is just as accomplished as Strickland, as mentioned previously, he just makes for very poor entertainment.

Obviously one can make the argument that Souquet doesn't care about pleasing the fans or what not, and simply enters competitions to win.

  • even though he can obviously play great I think that Ralph kills the spirit of what the game could/should be about.. with his constant looking at the table and slow pace of playing in general.. he can win all he want, I would never pay money to see him play.. .. he's like a german car, well made.. but boring as hell. I don't like STrickland's idosyncrazys... but he does provide for entertainment.. and he's a hell of a player :-)

  • As a former regular of C.J.'s poolroom in Dallas I had the opportunity to run into earl 4 or 5 times and to talk with him one to one, and at the time he would talk to people in a nice way, as if two friends were having nice conversation. I was there the night that he ran the 11 racks to win the Million, I have a signed picture of him from the event. Since then I suppose events in his life have caused him to change. Earl get better, you still have friends and fans that care about you.

  • Someone mentioned that earl is bipolar, that would explain a lot about his behavior. I've also heard that he was into the nose candy, which would also explain a lot. He either needs to see a doctor and get medication or go to rehab and get off of medication. It's a shame that someone with so much talent acts the way he does and is such a detriment to the sport he is clearly passionate about.

  • earls a fag

  • earl runs out a rack in the time it takes ralf to take a shot hahaha...

  • earl the girl strickland

  • earl the king!!!

  • It's sad to see Strickland's attitude in this type of situation. If he really buckled down and pushed ahead as hard as he could, he could beat anybody. His shot making seems so solid, even above all these other guys. It's just his mental game getting in the way...

  • I think people need to understand that Earl doesn't act like a complete nut for no reason.. He has to be mentally sick.. if anything earl can be a role model in a sick sort of way. A friend of his told me that he was bipolar, and after hearing that I think he deserves a little bit of credit. if you have a sickness and you can shoot as great as he can, American or w/e credit is due. Judging him does nothing but put him in a worse place than he already is.

  • he says amphibious instead of ambedextrious.

  • Yes, he does that on purpose

  • It's a dillibertoism!

  • "Do he realize how big of an idiot he makes himself look like?"- lol you look like the idiot to me,can't even speak the english language.

  • Earl Strickland is an absolute FUKING MORON!! Do he realize how big of an idiot he makes himself look like? Absolutely a SORE LOSER!!!!!

  • 26:50 , Rack 11: Why is Souquet breaking even Strickland won the rack 10?

  • Poor earl could've eaten a steak between some of these racks. He's probably completely frustrated. Ralf is a great shooter though I see why they call him a surgeon.

  • Absolutely true...

  • 34:08 Look at this. He's shooting it left handed. The guy's amphibious.

  • I think ambedextrous is the word ur lookin 4 man :)

  • earl hates half cause half beats him all the time

  • lol "snuckered"

  • Ok, his attitude was a little poor, but Strickland is an amazing player...the cue ball has barely stopped and his hitting the next shot!

  • Strickland is a big baby.

  • was it my impression or earl at 20:52 was complaining about souquet moving on his shot?

  • i agree with the commentary here that saids earl should be punished for speaking while ralf is at the table, it seems like he does that every match and its not fair at all, if i was ralf i would play even slower just to make earl mad

  • this is one of my favorite matches, cause ralf souquet is one of my favorite 3 players (along with efren reyes and mika immonen), and i love to see earl loose, and the way he acts when hes loosing a match, to me is just hilarious

  • hahaha...but than again nobody cares...

  • EARL STRICKLAND THE KING

  • Why is the american looser guy allowed to sit and speak shit while the gentleman is playing?

Interruptions should be penalized by handing the frame to the opponent.

  • i like turtles

  • haha...why do you have to include american in your phrase...would it make it any different if he were german or english...

  • so right !

  • earl the cry baby has to be the funniest player when his mad.

  • shot clock???????

  • one of the speakers made a very true statement in the very first rack, when he said that Strickland would only have a chance when he would be staying at the table himself. He knew that Strickland, as good as he might be, would not be mentally strong enough to see Ralf run racks and then fight himself back out of a larger deficit.

  • earl is like a big baby..when he sees that he is down 5-2, he assumes he is going to lose...thats where hes the lesser player..u always have to have a positive mindset...

  • i dont think earl acts professional but i sympathize and somewhat agree with him. check out ralph strolling up to the table than mulling over easy road map outs. haha like all of a sudden i forgot how to run. ralph is amazing, dont get me wrong, eh, mandatory shot clocks would solve this. it really seems like ralph played more mechanical than needed as a strategy.

  • Good lord.. Could they POSSIBLY talk any more about Earl freaking Strictland...

  • where's the shot clock

  • i'd rather watch Strickland lose like that than watch Souquet spend and hour to run out a rack.Funny thing, the Janscos changed the game from straight pool to nine ball to make it faster and more entertaining. i don't dislike Souquet(good sport, good shooter)but i don't think he woulda' or does get much money action.

  • Mister Sucket. Souquet! It´s french!

  • Strickland acts like a little kid

  • I think earl being introduced into the hall of fame is just a matter of time. I think the only reason why he's not in it yet is his foolish behaviour on many occasions...

  • Earl was actually inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.

  • Both Earl and Souquet are excellent pool players. Earl has more U.S. Open and World Titles combined than anyone else in 9-balls. Earl is like the John McEnroe of tennis. He threw tantrums and antics that are very annoying yet at the same time can be viewed as entertaining. I think Earl's behavior might be the factor that Cuetec no longer endorses him. His attitude projects a bad reflection, thus, Cuetec does not want to further associate with him.

  • Strictland is a good player, he could still be great if he had the patience but clearly he does not.

  • I have alot of respect for both Strickland and Souquet, they are both amazingly talented at what they do. However, yes, Earl does get frustrated easily and his actions sometimes leave alot to be desired.

Try having some more respect for the skills and talent these men have instead on criticizing every mistake and action they make. Most of you are just jealous that you couldn't even make half the shots Earl Strickland makes on a bad day, so stop fucking whining and show some respect.

  • can't stand earl

  • Souquet showed some great pool.

Strickland was just throwing his cue at the balls.

  • billiards is made to have fun, so if you win you should be happy, and if you lose don't be upset.

  • strickland is both: really good player and an extraordinary asshole. in my eyes, more asshole as there are more players today who take the job serious. strickland makes presents cause he thinks he -the godfather of us all- does not need to concentrate on playing. LOL, what a dumbass. watch his game against bustamante, really funny to see how he behaves when giving up a match. and giving up because he played bad. he had his time, today he's just a whining little girlie.

  • Earl doesn't need an alarm clock when it's his shot. He needs the ref to walk up and deliver the cry-baby sook a full-blooded slap. Just like his momma should have, a long time ago. If Earl doesn't like Souquet playing at his own pace, maybe he should just stay home, and do us all a favour. Coolhandluke, you're a fool. To defend the actions of Strickland says more about you than it does about him.

  • The problem is that Souquet is way too slow. Earl has strong feelings about the game and feels that people that play that slow are using gamesmanship and not playing with respect for the game. These two are complete opposites with regards to pace and it really pisses Earl off. To say he's a cry baby, etc. is ridiculous. He's a great player that is stubborn and likes things a certain way. He's not out shooting up strip clubs and fighting dogs is he? What if you were that good? You'd be mad!

  • Props for BCn posting these! Wish ESPN would broadcast more tourneys. How can Earl call himself a professional? A guy who waves and throws and even breaks his cues on a table (yes, I've seen him do this on TV) has no right to call himself a professional. I don't care how good he is or who he can beat. He's just a whiny, poor-sport baby.

  • well said +1

  • When you miss shots, like the 3 in the side, like he did on the 2n rack, which you should easily make,it's easy to understand him being frustrated. But his sulking when Souquet was playing was uncalled for.

  • I love you BClub, post more to keep up my billiard addiction! :D

  • c'mon hes [earl] a hustler/shark, just good at throwin people off their game... nothin wrong with that, just the nature of a hustler hes a character

  • oh yeah then who

  • earl is a little beyatch

  • Earl definitely is a great player, but he is the worst looser in professional pool.
