I think they are. I believe very few people in America know exactly what's going on over there. On top of that, being an infantry combat vet, I believe it was nessesary in showing what happens on the battlefield. Speilberg does it in Saving Private Ryan and he's considered a genius for showing how it really was. Stallone does it and gets chastised for it. Go figure. Besides, Rambo was more of a war story than Private Ryan, which was more about duty and sacrifice. The violence in Rambo is needed.

I watched the movie twice and I loved it. Will get it to watch at home when it comes out.

The first Rambo movie was so damn good ! The last scene where Rambo breaks down while confiding to Troutman shown just how good an actor Stallone can be .

It's unfortunate that the 2nd and 3rd films just got silly with the over the top explosions and shit .

I truly hope this one is more like the first one .

Haven't seen 2 or 3, but I cant imagine either of them being as good as (let alone better than) First Blood. That scene at the end really got to me too because, similar to the Bourne movies, it showed how underneath all the training and killer instinct was a man that could be broken. Also the line "I'll give you a war you won't believe" just had me glued to the movie from then on

Rambo IV seems to me like being as honest and serious as the first, as political as the third and with story elements of all three. Maybe you took a little bit too much blood and wounds into the centre of the screen, bit like "blood Diamond". Hopefully the religious aspect will not be too simple... Absolutely great is the outlook of the melancholic hero: oscar scent!

EuropeJT, this comeback is awesome, at least. Last year, everybody thought Mr. Stallone's movie career was over, and he has shown the ability to reconnect with the audience.

Rocky's gonna be a hit, no matter whether it breaks boxoffice records or not. For me, it's much more valuable coming out with an 'old fashioned' 80s action movie than spending $mill with digital effects and marketing tactics, as many blockbusters do nowadays.

first blood came out the eyar i was born,but i've watched all of em and actually people look up to sports stars, well i was busy looking yup to john rambo for real, my dad was a nam vet and he told me alot about how it was in nam and it gave me a new perspective on the movies.

this 4th installment is a blessing, too many action flicks with too many young faces..... give me what i grew up on, and i think rambo only got tougher and nastier over the years, a true warrior!

I really hope Sly brings Joel Goldsmith on board to write the music for the film. Now that Jerry Goldsmith isn't around anymore, I think Jerry's son would be the best candidate to take over. I would be SO sad if there wasn't a Goldsmith doing the music for this movie.

He got Bill Conti back for Rocky Balboa, which I thought was great! I would like to see a similar continuity in John Rambo's music composition.

Tyler is a great composer. I guess I just wanted to hear another Goldsmith Rambo score. Joel's musical voice sounds, to me, similar to his father's, so I wanted to hear what he would do for the Rambo theme this fourth time around. Joel and Jerry have an uncanny ability to pull my emotional tug-strings in a way that Tyler has yet to do. Because of nostalgia, I was hoping to be able to go to this movie with a feeling of total trust as I rested my emotions in the familiar care of a Goldsmith.
