Well screw that debate below this post, both UC and alt universes have good and bad stuff in them. The real issue with SEED and SEED destiny is that theire too romantic. That goes against the idea behind gundam series. Older Gundam actually tried to show the coldness of war and how it affect them.

The SEED and SD characters start good but as their characters develop. they create a need to be loved. Zeta characters, on the other hand, keep their emotional distance cause they knew the consequences that brought to the battlefield.

Thats why SEED and SD annoys the fans that enjoyed UC Gundams.

You're right. I became annoyed with how many emotional problems that the main characters were displaying during the show. I was thinking the whole time that "You would have thought that the armies or military training programs that they went through would have trained them so that they wouldn't have to be going through all this or at least train them to suppress it," and "What a bunch of whiny-ass pansies!"

I dislike Seed / Seed Destiny for completely different reasons.

There are some other bunch of reasons why someone can dislike SEED/SD (mainly, a lot of BS that is left unexplained happens that makes you loose credibility) but the point is, that SEED/SD strays away from the Gundam theme, and focuses on the petty characters backstories which turns it more like a soap opera.

If you ask me, Gundam Seed Destiny had the potential of being amongst the top best of the Gundam shows - But it started to waver there around episode 20 and then it just turned... so much crap..

I disagree with your statement, backstories are interesting and that's not the reason why GS/GSD failed at all.

what the fuck is with people and giant swords. u don't need giant swords in gundam, all you do is press the increase intensity button on your beam sabre to make it grow bigger. Anti-ship swords? what the fuck? and boomerangs in space? why do u need 7 swords?

well, a plasma torch on the tip of a beam rifle and two on the back amuro style for melee is good enough imotbh, anymore than that, unless its a sort of hidden surprise for your enemy, is useless.

Like the crossbones having huge knives under their boots so when they kick they will also damage internal wiring of mobile suits, that is smart.

gundam depicts the battle in space, between HUMANS, you get the occasional newbie kid who ends up in a cockpit but most of the time people who are fighting look like actual soldiers. But now we have the phenomenon where every single bloody person in the cast looks fricking dashingly beautiful. That isn't necessarily a bad thing though, but they are all emo

now, some one being pretty isn't a bad thing at all, infact Kamille from Zeta could pass for a chick if you put him in a dress (his gender bended version looks exactly the same as normal), and lets not even get started on Loran's secret identity. What makes them so called "PRETTY BOYS" is the fact that they are all fricking EMOS who gets naked every fucking chance they got. Under no circumstances should any character need to get nude, with the exception of shower and bath scenes.

Now lets look at what makes some one with dashing looks not a pretty boy. Keep in mind that i'm using the word, pretty boy, instead of bishonen. I'm perfectly fine with bishonen, just not pretty boys. FYI, the word pretty boy has a negative connotation. Lets look at Char for example, he's probably the most lovely looking man to have ever existed in U.C. But Char was also badass, and he had mad skills to go with his looks. That's why he isn't a pretty boy.

So again to put it simply, pretty boys are absolutely skill-less individuals who obviously have emotional problems for no good reason, who can't seem to move on from the past. Seed and 00 tried to make these pretty boys look badass, but obviously that failed because of all the fan hate you can find easily on the internet, such as the comments under this video. For a successfully badass bishonen character, refer to Gurren Lagann. Also, these pretty boys shoulda been girls, honestly.

@kevinlei92 - If we put the original shows up next to the Seed, Wing and 00 shows we can see that the ones from the original show was crap at the start while those from the new ones are already of ACE-pilot quality. That is my main annoyment. Put Kira in any other suit that isn't the Freedom Gundam and he is just another cannon fodder.

If you want to complain about characters being pretty and getting naked all the time - Then complain about nearly every new anime today.

@Mrpnut08 That's a deeper more significant reason as to why Seed and pretty much all the Alternate century stuff sucks. But the real reason I think Seed was so bad is because it relies so heavily on the source material of previous Gundams, so much so that it brings nothing new to the table. Almost every major plot event is borrowed from another series. It became nothing but a cluster fuck of concept that had already been done, and were done better in the older shows!

If Seed was so amazing then explain to me why the Seed movie and the 3rd Seed session were canceled? What saved Gundam were things like Unicorn and New Zeta, because bandai/sunrise realized the mistake they made in marketing Gundam to the flaky Cos-Playing Weeaboo crowd and went back to marking it to the sci-fi nerds that made Gundam popular.

as for why Seed's third season and movie aren't out, the director's wife, who is the series's main writer, contracted brain cancer and has gotten to the point where she can work anymore.

Zeta did some saving ages ago, but after a while, things waned and seed brought them out of a drought. Zeta can only do so much as merchandising requires you pump out more and new products quite often.

Let's also not forget another reason seed has been put on hold is backlash from the fans and from Tomino putting pressure on sunrise to stop blatantly stealing from his work, which is why we got 00, i guess sunrise figured if they couldn't rehash Tomino's works they could just rehash wing and nobody would ever notice.

Its cool. I don't like it at all. The character deaths just feel rushed and its filled with a bunch of young teenagers all whining the whole time or screaming. The ending is also lackluster and boring. None of the fights are exciting and the directing of the show is just terrible. It doesn't even bother to explain some things and just throws it at you. Its a no fun experience and not b/c its depressing b/c Ideon is depressing and that show is awesome.

Well, I'll admit that I don't watch any Gundam for the fight scenes as much as the plot line, so I'll agree with you about the fights in as much as I have no idea if they were boring or not (though they can't possibly be worse that Gundam Wing's). You're right about rushed deaths (the first three Shrike members in particular), but I prefer Victory's view of the trauma of war to the other Gundams'. It's a bit more believable, I think.

Thats one of the few things I like about the show. How it presents the trauma of war is very believable, but it doesn't do it well. I should be crying every time someone dies, but it just felt like the newest death had to outdo the last one in how gruesome it was.

Going back to comparing it to Destiny, when I say that I mean that I don't care for either show and Destiny is on a whole other level of bad compared to V at least for me anyways.

They both have their downsides. I also agree with you about Destiny; I'm not sure that it was exactly terrible, but SEED was a lot better in my opinion. Of course, both of them had their problems, too.

The problem with Destiny is that it starts out great then just dies after Stella dies and it does things horribly. I think people exaggerate the problems with it, but it has too many problems. The original SEED was really good and left it open for a sequel, but it has its own issues. xD

I was referring to Gundam Wing's fight scenes, not the show itself. It happens to be one of my favorite Gundam shows, but the fight scenes (just like in SEED and Destiny) simply used repeated clips of stock footage. Simply put, the fights (other than duels between the main characters) were pretty much the same scenes over and over, pasted on different backgrounds to show that it was a different fight from the one you watched last episode. It's pretty hard to make a fight more boring than that.
