  • Funny How Bad We'd Like This Vision, But Prefer The Path of Separateness

    ...

  • this is the song you put on when you turn out the lights and lay your head on the pillow, even when you drift off, you'll still hear it, as it seeps into your subconsious, where it will remain, forever........

  • This song is like a dream.

  • GINUWINE ...SAMPLED A GREAT STEVIE SONG....

  • Upright bass and two guitars. Stiil, it's all Stevie Wonder.

  • brill !

  • I was expressive during the height of my career of my consciousness. We can't thank Stevie Wonder enough for helping to put into words through music the message universally. ...its still POWERFUL LOVE and PEACE

  • beyond professionalism

  • Still fucking amazing this album is almost 40 yrs. old and does not get old. And absolutly as mature as the lyrics are he was only 23 when he crafted this masterpiece of his Innervisions.

  • Trae the truth sampled this white bricks

  • @louishenna : So did Ginuwine and Timbaland!

  • Великая песня! Чистая музыка души! А как он её сделал в новой редакции- это что то!

  • Irresistible!!!

  • Genuwine sampled this song

  • the only way u can compare another artist to stevie is if the mutherfucker is blind like stevie!

  • @musikchic agreed! :L no-one comes close

  • As beautiful as this is,... in the sincerest flattery of it... look up Gloria Lynne's cover of this song, with no less than John Klemmer on sax/echoplex. Back to back these two will make you cry.

  • Sublime , thanks for all the uploads johnnie

  • if he were sighted, the music would be different.

  • Woow. . .I heard Ginuwine's "I'll do anything", and realize he sample this one. Gosh, don't we learn something new everyday. . .lol

  • @Rucks90 That's where the sample came from! I'm listening to this song trying to figure out who sampled it and you're right. Ginuwine's I'll do anything. Thanks!!

  • @MsTeachMe1 You're welcome ma'am. :-)

  • His best album bar none.

  • Beautiful, dreamy song.

  • 70's music was so full of expressionism and care.

  • THE LAST GIANT LEFT.

  • @hapzap13 so true..

  • @hapzap13 prince......and even though its prince......i sill feel shakey saying him and stevie toghether it all sounds crazy and is confusing to think about

  • @hapzap13

    What about Bob Dylan?

  • I have this album and I love his work.

  • This album is a reflection of the time; introspective, contemplative, conscious.

What happend to us along the way where we have come to embrace the culture of Bling.

I don't blame rap, hip-hop, or gansta rap, but have we done ourselves a dis-service along the way.

We need a new Martin Luther to re-ignite our cultural pride... a direction, a focal point other than the mall...the mind.

  • @bennettdrew I can not stand people like you. You hear one good song and your first reaction is demonize something to put it on a pedistal. How about you worry about your own life and let people live the way they desire?

  • sonically beautiful

  • Phenomenal guitar play!

  • My favorite song ever! Out of the millions of songs that exsist. Makes me cry...

  • I read an article wherein Michael Jackson described Stevie Wonder as a Musical Prophet. I thought that was profound. And I have to agree with his assessment.

  • @bronxbabi100 Whoa thats deep, Musical prophet, i would have to agree

  • Lovely.

  • Stevie Wonder blind ?

No one would ever have known if you hadn't told us !!

  • Stevie has obviously been around for a long time before my birth (im 19) but I think he is great! As a chrisitian I enjoy listening to some secular music and stevie doesnt weigh on my mind as an artist that wil tamper with my spirituallity. He expresses himself so wonderfully: he is romantic ,and deep, and real and all this from a man who is blind! HIS OTHER SENSES SURE KICKED IN CUZ IT IS AS IF HE CAN REALLY "SEE" THE WORLD! I love he music.

  • Anyone asked me such a thing, They wouldn't be my friend much longer, -lol !!

But, seriously, Stevie Wonder has spent his entire life bringing joy to people all over The World with his music.

  • I was recently asked by a friend to name, "One thing Stevie Wonder was good for other than 'Superstition'..." He'd never heard of this album. I rest my case...

  • Who feels it knows it. His legacy will be more everlasting than Mozart, Chopin and Beethoven combined. Long live his Wonder.

  • Cool....

  • Ah, I see where Tim used the sample on that Ginuwine track. . . it's nothing compared to the original. Beautiful

  • I keep coming back to this song. This creative, beautiful, spiritual and honest song. I think whats amazing is despite its beautifully crafted musical composition, it can mean different things to different people. Its sad yet hopeful. Confused but somehow encourageing to keep a focus on 'the light' , whatever it may be to the individual. I feel like im a prisoner of my own mind sometimes....Its nice to find that sometimes you only need to dream.......

  • This is amazing. I wonder what Stevie's writing process is like.

  • Check out The Stevie Wonder story I posted. Basically he says that he got into writing his own stuff because his writers couldn't crank out lyrics fast enough for all his compositions. He got tired of having to wait for them to write so he just started writing them himself. Pretty ridiculous if you think about it..."eh, I don't feel like waiting, so I'm just gonna write them myself, and be one of the greatest lyricists around" lol I think he goes into the process a little in the story.

  • @johnniewalker23 Wow I never knew that. Gotta get me some of the books on his life.

  • @johnniewalker23 Because he can't see its like his introspective creativity is honed to another level.....thats why its hard for others to play his music...its so complex.

  • @johnniewalker23 Because he can't see its like his introspective creativity is honed to another level.....thats why its hard for others to play his music...its so complex. this cat had 3 straight album of the year Grammies...If "Songs" dropped in 75 instead of 76 it woulda been 4.

  • @johnniewalker23 That's the same reason I started doing it myself as well. I'm a bass player who got tired of people fighting over compositions or sitting on their asses waiting for inspiration to come. Not comparing myself to Stevie though, that would be stupid. I don't think an artist like Stevie comes along every century. Maybe every other one if humans are lucky. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that it's a valid enough reason to start writing.

  • @johnniewalker23 Can u please highlight in which part of the documentary he's talking about this process?

  • @YoungMarcel19 so this where ginuwine get that beat from i'll do anything/ im sorry

  • that you for uploading this... and like you said most def 2010,. no excuse 3010

  • Reminds me of Black Maybe by Syreeta. No surprise he helped compose that one too.

  • this song is definetly 2010

  • i need this!

  • its a sad and contempletive number, i reckon best suited to a dark winter evening by the fire

  • I'm so glad I got this album on vinyl!

  • This song is perfect for any and all occasions!

  • Ginuwine sampled this on "I'll do anything, I'm sorry" I love Stevie!!

  • yep he definitely did!

  • desert island record

  • Stevie himself thinks Innervisions was his most complete album. Listening to this you can see why.

  • Imagine walking along the beach while listening to this song on a radio or ipod, very soothing!

  • very inspiring lyrics

  • yeah wuts his name frm the south sampled this um.. treyz or i cant rember...

  • I know that this record came out in 1973 but the message is so positive that can be applied to today standard's. I'm 35 & I recongize good music when I here it !!! Thank You Johnnie Walker 4 uploading this beautiful music!!!

  • it feels good to feel the emotions great song like this induce in my spirit...it feel great to be alive!

  • @NativeToungue77 Folks may Laugh..But I believe when Music touches us it has to do with the spiritual side of life...Anyway regardless that is how I shall be listening..till my end.

  • The Greatest Album of All Times!

  • to me this is his best album behind Song in the Key of Life. Man, I'm 26 and cant imagine not having a relationship wiht his music.

  • the true meaning of ( deep) Stevie can take you somewhere you never been before with his music. one of God's gifts to music truely

  • Timbaland sampled this tune for guinwine.......good taste:)

  • Totally chill....very nice :)

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I feel this song is very impressive tune to Living for the City ".

  • "Where hate's a dream and love forever stands . . . " This is a vision in my mind too.

  • Ahh...Stevie Wonder.

  • Can one have too much talent

    only a pure genius

who else can write, sing, compose, play all the instruments.

the only other I can think of is Prince,

someone school me on other artist who

    can do all of this

  • What's funny is how when you say "write, sing, compose, play all instruments" it sounds kind of nonchalant. I'm sure you don't mean it that way but really it's more along the lines of "who else can write music that gets them in the song writers hall of fame, sing with one of the greatest voices of our time, compose complex music, and play instruments at an incredibly high level". All while winning more Grammy awards than any solo artist in history.

I'm interested in hearing a response too.

  • His message is universal and meaningful and honest and true. That's what keeps me listening for more than thirty years. If I have a bad day at work, I listen to Stevie.

  • i'll bite.... "Baby Fingers" Patrice Rushen writes, composes, arranges, plays most instruments herself...

Also, the late, great Issac Hayes ....

  • @johnniewalker23 Another thing should be noted. Stevie poured out hit after hit after hit song.

Frank Zappa was an incredible composer of rock jazz and classical music, along with other styles. He was incredibly innovative. He was a great lead guitarist and a film director. He also produced many of his records. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Apples and Oranges.

I much prefer Stevie Wonder, just sayin' FZ was a genious.

  • @johnniewalker23 Agreed. Prince is great-a genius in his own right but Stevie edges Prince in that Stevie is more than artist. I can't think of anybody more beloved than Stevie--the other one who rivals Stevie in that department died in June 25, 2009. Stevie wrote soundtracks to our lives with such vivid clarity; it's still unbelievable that he's blind. I'm always humbled by "Visions" because it's so ironic when he says I'm not one to make believe I know the leaves are green...'"

  • @johnniewalker23 You said it, very well put.

  • Others I can think of are Lenny Kravitz and Paul McCartney.

  • @trumusicgen The Bee Gees... different style

  • @trumusicgen d'angelo... he can be compared to them both i think

  • @trumusicgen The talented Patrice Rushen.

  • @trumusicgen well nobody on stevie's level, but we do have brian mcknight, lauryn hill, alicia keys, jamie cullum, and pretty soon we'll have karina pasian and gabi wilson. ALL influenced by stevie, will never be on his level, but there is hope for the music...

  • @trumusicgen

My answer is no one. I've felt for years that Stevie Wonder was arguably the most underrated artist in history. At least as far as music is concerned. And I believed that before I discovered that he did almost this entire album single-handedly. It takes a true genius to accomplish all that he's accomplished during his career as well as a great combination of determination, a strong work ethic, and showmanship. He's really one of a kind.

  • @trumusicgen If you have never heard of him before, type in the name "Van Hunt" in the search engine here on YouTube. He writes all his music, composes, and plays all (or most) of the instruments, and sings it. One of his inspirations is Prince.

  • @DreSoul I love Van Hunt!!! He wrote or co-wrote Dione Farris's hit single Hopeless from the Love Jones soundtrack too.

  • @MsTeachMe1 He's a gem for sure...

  • @trumusicgen - Paul McCartney can and has - also Phil Collins - we all have special gifts, though Stevie is a gift to us all and the very definition of a truly rare gem

  • @trumusicgen Paul McCartney and Phil Collins - but Stevie is a true and rare gift

  • @trumusicgen

    Paul McCartney

  • @trumusicgen Phil Collins 8)

  • Deep sentiments here, people.

But would you expect anything less from this man.

  • Comment removed

  • Still leaves me speechless...

Sorry i forgot wot i wuz gonna say :0)

  • Stevie puts me in a state a mind that no one else can...he sings to my soul...I love him.

  • The best artist of the century: Stevie Wonder

  • youngTaharka I agree.

  • Truly a gift to the world from god

im sure bless to hear this sound

  • His talent is palpable. Have you listened to Saturn? (the bonus track on his Songs in the Key of Life c.d.) It is so timeless, that even after more than thirty years, it still speaks to the failings of our Government. He is amazing.

  • Man what a feeling!! Superior talent!!

  • Innervisions my favorite Mr Wonder Album. A Legend He is.

  • wow this is a real good album and this song is so beautiful i love it.

  • the best eva

  • I heard some people say that this is the greatest album of all time...

  • By every since of the word..One of 3 compositions he's contributed to music...Innervisions, Talking Book and Songs in the Key of Life..

  • One of the best voices in music and one of the best songwriters of the twentieth century. I listened to his music growing up.

  • Knightofbay don't apologise for being a Stevie worshipper! Such is the prolific genius of the man I had almost forgotten this incredible track amongst the range of brilliant tracks on this album. If it speaks to you in a personal, meaningful way then just thank god for that.

  • This is the kind of music you have to listen to alone to fully appreciate.

  • Masterpiece. One of our many styles of All-American genius.

  • Look not to sound like a stevie worshiper, but as a musician myself i feel like this song goes into depth in the mind of many artists. I don't want to say it definds me but wut it does do is explain what goes through my mind everyday. And it's scary because i try not to open myself to people. it might be the fact that i am still 17 and not a fully matured. But when i hear this song i feel like i told him everything about myself and told in a way that is not only musically but also profound. thx.

  • An all time classic!

  • I loved this song as a child and I love it even more as an adult.

  • you know that youtube doesn't obligate you people to read the comments right?

  • why are you idiots getting all political!? its just a fucking song for god's sakes!!!

  • looks like you guys are all missing the point of this song. perhaps everybody being at peace while checking this out was merely a vision in my mind.

  • shut up already...go to a political video for a debate...people here want peace & SW's good music...there are good wolves and bad wolves....which one will win? the one you feed honey... love, bt

  • I love you awamoriwhiskey!

  • Hey awamoriwhiskey why do you say hateful things? Obvious you are hurting inside dude. Chill out. Anyway what's up with the Obama comment, you are not even American. You don't hear us talking a about the Canadian president whoever that is.

  • well you don't have to worry about OUR president being at your window or doing anything affecting you. you stay in your country, and if you happen to come across any blacks, let them know how much you hate them. unless of course you're a coward, and just talk tough on the internet. and i meant why are you on stevie wonder's page if you don't like blacks so much

  • actually, the key components to most of the aforementioned things were created by blacks and there was democracy in ethipoia before the rest of the world could read or write. blacks also invented the toilet! lol

  • of course Christian Ethiopia

  • naturally I meant that YouTube was NOT created by Black people

only an idiot could think otherwise...

  • 3 reasons u r a moron:

    1. Dunham-Davis-Soetero-Obama wasn't running against Bush

    2. There are millions of Americans outside the US

    3. YouTube was created by Black people. Neither was the internet, or computers, or records, or tapes, or CDs ...

  • what does youtube have to do with anything? i could care less who created it. so who did you vote for? nobody!!!! you're not american, you're not even white. you have no say so. I understand, a black person must have done something to you, and hurt your feelings, too bad >: p

  • i realize i's hard for you to argue that most blacks aren't racist when black vote = 97% chance of an obama vote

    u have my sympathy

obama will be an american tragedy

the first and last black president

he will be such a disaster that unfortunately many people will think black politicians must be disasterous

  • oh really? worst than george bush? i doubt that. a man who gave up a cushy corporate job offer to work improving inner city chicago really sounds as if he is motivated by the wrong things. like i said before, why are you concerned about what happens in this country? you obvious don't know much, foreigner. keep your opinions to yourself. and if most blacks are racist, why are you on a black man's page listening to his music???
