If after b x h7 if he doesnt take bishop you do not retreat bishop you play q h5 with the threat of bg6 check then qh7 mate this is also known as the greek gift sacrifice
I started with the giocco piano, or really the italian game, and have learned the majority of what i know from these videos. Primarily kevin and chesswebsite videos, but its good to watch as many as you can. I dont know how people can second guess these moves, since youll find that the theme behind them is whats important. Not memorization, but concepts. Um..In other words, thanks :)
Hey, just starting to get seriously into the game, i found this video extremely helpful, What happened to the knights though? can you show/explain the opening to set this up? I obtained every position needed with an opening line except that I couldn't figure out how to eliminate their kingside knight.
Thanks Kevin! These middle game tactics are really helping out my play! Ever since I started watching and learning from your videos, I find myself getting better at chess (knowing I still have a lot to learn). Thanks so much for the videos! Keep up the awesome work!
Very similar in this situation is sacrificing the black bishop after black has moved his pawn to h6 (very common move). If the bishop is backed by the queen you can take 2 pawns but still i wonder whether i will win the game in that situation.
you don't need those pieces, like the e5 pawn, you can handle a mate without all those pieces, this kind of makes of difficult to get the sacrifice, there are others occasions
awesome video, middle game vids are needed. You could definitely set yourself apart from Kingscruher, Jrobi et al if you did more of these very simple middlegame theme videos.
Perhaps one on how properly to exploit an opponents doubled pawns in the middle game would be good.
"Stop second guessing me and my videos" lmao I almost chocked on my drink when you said that :D Good for you Jerry tell those noobs to stop their nonsense :) Nice vid, hopefully we see more vids of more complicated sacrifices, maybe also with creative ways to defend against hack attacks when you're the one on the receiving end ;)
@Immortalassassin1 .... You are a noob also, that's why you watching the video to learn. Kevin, if you don't explain why certain moves aren't made how are people meant to learn? They might as well just look at GM games and assume that everything is done right and learn just as much, eg nothing.
@Immortalassassin1 That's Kevin. You should know this because when the video starts he's like "Hey everyone, this is KEVIN from blah blah blah and today we're gonna be going over blah blah blah".
but in 4:30 you said that the e5 pown its super importan, but Kd4-Nf7+ and hi still lose (Kc6 Nxd8+ Rxd8 maby bg5 or h5) and fritz, rypka and Sf wil give white 10-15 point
i really love the middle game stuff. not only does it touch on strategies you should be looking out for but also it really helps in understanding the whole game of chess a lot
@hackman1911 if I get more feedback saying more middle game stuff then that's exactly what I will do. You know how I operate, people ask and I give it to them. I'm here to please the people. Glad you like the middle game stuff, it's super important and there's a lot more to teach.
He got mad for a second, "Stop second guessing me in my videos." LOL!

Great video. It certainly is more helpful to teach general principles than specific "patterns", and I do believe this video does just that.
I'd love to see more mid-game tutorials! =)
