9.08- 9.24 watch Patsy carefully what she´s doing. hilarious, everytime i see a snow globe i make the same try, maybe the bolivian snow globes will work
There is another version where First Cut is the Deepest is played instead of Lulu's song. Eddy imagines Catriona has turned into PP Arnold and sings along.
At 6:46 they have a portuguese flag that is amazing, by the way i know Joan Lumley, i have been several times to her house, she is such a wonderfull lady, She seems like the Lady in the Mannor, she has the most beautiful english, the most posh english i ever heard, when she talks we just want to hear for hours, she is such a nice and decent lady. Bless her. All my love Joan, may God bless you.
I've seen a version of 'The Last Shout' in which "The First Cut Is The Deepest" is the song that's played, instead of the Lulu song. It must have been the show's original cut.
Most people don't even know that a major "Dream Scene" was heavily edited out of every release of this. The part where Edina is in her office and removes the cigarette from her mouth, P.P. Arnold suddenly appears and begins singing "The First Cut Is The Deepest." And Edina gets up and dances with her. I hate that they've made this edit and others, but it's due to copyright reasons.
At 2:28 does anyone else notice that when Paolo is buttoning his shirt, he is buttoning where it will not come out straight or even ? (I should have worked in continuity, too much eye for detail!) He seems much too fussy to button his shirt wrong; it's funny. I wonder if it was ever planned or noticed.
Jennifer is such an absolute genius anyway. I live in the States (former colony) so I'm always behind on catching her work..
This is wierd. At 2:40 to 2:42 it looks like Patsy has the same problem. (I love Patsy/Joanna.) I would expect Patsy to be oblivious to the situation though. Who knows what else was going on or if she was even awake when she was getting dressed? We know she wasn't sober, never is.
Now that Fox here has rejected the Ab Fab USA pilot, I really wish Jennifer would do more original British Ab Fab. We're probably out of luck on that, but it would be wonderful!
However, since YOU mention it, from what I've read or heard about English history and the royal family's attitude toward the U.S. over the years, I would be pretty certain that Ms. Elizabeth, the Queen, thinks of us as "that former colony." Hope I haven't misjudged her.
Somewhere I even read there was a royal family attitude toward the U.S. as "the one that got away", that shouldn't have, because George wasn't keeping on top of things!
@333loveya777 Well I am no historian, but if we were being referred to as "the one that got away", a better senitment would seem to be "one of the ones that got away". And wasn't it syphillis that drove George (III I think) mad? It was because of this same illness that a man once known as Ivan the Friendly became better known to history as Ivan the Terrible... looking back at it now, for better or worse, Ivan the Terrible just rings better.
Has anyone else seen a different version of this first scene at :52 where Catriona turns into a different woman and there is a different song in the background. It first aired on Comedy Central in the US.

At 1:39 to 1:44 , we see Patsy button her jacket, obviously off, and not notice. I wonder if it was deliberate? I never noticed it before.
I liked both actresses that were picked for the USA show, but nobody could ever be as good as Jennifer and Joanna!!
333loveya777 2 years ago
Argh! when did fox reject the pilot??? this is a brillant show i can't believe they did that. no wonder their ratings are bad.

It's P. P. Arnold singing her 1967 version of "The First Cut Is the Deepest".

Awesome. Thanks. I wonder why they aired this and then changed the scene. I like the original with PP Arnold better.
Thanks again for the info!
