Biggest mistake made by people learning the double haul:
Letting the line go at any time when you're not on the final cast. Get the distance of line you want to cast out and then build the rod momentum to the point when you can cut the wind or punch the fly out, then haul on your cast stroke and let the line go. If you've watched the videos enough you should punch that fly out through the wind and right in the vicinity of your target.
Practice without a rod, then practice on the lawn, then fish!
