@labobo Thats exactly what I was thinking. Not only not do its job (it would be easy to reposition) but fall on a component and possible short something out.
@danorambo hey, the air would do the same thing the CPU fan does, send it out into the case away from the centered point of the heatsink. The antec 900 case has a crapton of fans to clear out the heat in the case quickly from there. Also, the switch is built onto the fan, so I just keep it on medium.
@MtnXfreeride can u get this in different colors i have looked and cant find anything different i need a green one that fan looks like it works well and i think it has a nice look to it
But green mixed with blue fine for me.. My cold cathodes are green.. I need to upload a new video.. my computer has been pretty rebuilt since this was made
@572dwayne i decided i was gonna get one so i ordered one today id say it will make huge difference in temp mine only runs at 29C with 500gb hard drive 4 gb ram which im wanting to up grade to some ripjaws and i have intel 3.2ghz duel core processor with nvidia geforce 9500GT 1gb graphics card
@danorambo the side of his case is vented 2:31 and his other fans will suck out the heat anyways he is just adding a nice quiet more effecient cooling and not to mention it looks nice and these fans are not expensive and they have and 8 inch lead and u can put it any where in your case unlike any other fan mod
@TheRGUK I have 2 Nvidia 1GB GTX460's now.. I am going to make another video soon once my i7 970 hex core comes in the mail! I will make another video of epicness.
Memory above the CPU? That's different. I think I might get one of these for mostfet cooling since I can't find a good DDR2 AMD mobo with a heatsink on the mosfet.
@spacegekko this is before I did cable management.. I was still waiting for a new PSU to come and heatsink so the whole thing was going to be gutted anyway. I have a newer video of the completed desktop.
@MechaNintendoMast See my other computer videos? I have 2 SSDs, one intel one OCZ. I dont get heat from my disc hard drives, and the noise isnt from them. Its from the tiny fan the mobo came with.
if your hard drives are heating up a tower, then maybe there is something wrong with them. Mine are fairly cool to the touch, my 2 640's and 1TB in the case.
yea i got the antec 900 2 and its pretty decent with cable management if u take the time to do it right. has a nice back behind the motherboard for wires
yup, my 900 can only get some cables back there.. I really would have to cut a hole by the PSU to make my wiring really efficient.. but its really cramped behind my mobo with the few cables I have.. I still have to put a lot of power into closing the back case!
But, the UV light and cable wraps make it "cool" to show some cables.
intel DX58SO, dont get it, it sucks. FInd one with 6 memory DIMMS so you can add memory for cheap. The fourth slot on here is useless for triple channel memory.
Well, I placed it over the northbridge because the motherboard came with a small (optional) fan to mount over it. That fan however, was very loud and high pitched. So the Antec is just there to replace it because its so quiet.
do you know if there is a way to install more than one antec spot cool fan if you cannot find the two point connection on the motherboard for more than one? i have two connections that i see on my board an i have one rocketfish gaming 80 mm fan and an antec spot cool hooked up. would like to add one more spot cool. maybe an adaptor is available?
there are adapters out there that go from molex to the 3 pin fan plug you need. They are pass throughs to so you have a molex on both ends with the fan plug coming off a side.
yes you did, the antec 900 case mounts the PSU at the bottom, which makes sense - it blows hot air up - where it naturally goes, and the giant fan at the top of the case blows it out. The air from the PSU is moved at such a fast pace it is barely warm.
I dont think it matters. It seems like mine is sucking and then blowing from inside. Which is smart, because it is sucking in cool air and then blowing the hot air up since it will rise anyway and go out the giant fan on top. There really isnt any heat build up in this case, but I dont overclocked much @3.2ghz.
I find it odd that you go for an additional fan for your northbridge yet stick with a stock intel cooling solution for your cpu... very odd.

ROcketfish 700watt PSU here, but ive changed it out for a BFG 600 watt since, the rocketfish was too loud.

amazon. C O M/Fan-Molex-Pin-MB/dp/B000BSJGL0
Take the spaces out of COM. $2.99 and its a pass through so you dont lose the molex connector.
