Amy was wonderful. Deal with it ! She was loved by Mick Jagger, she was loved by Tony, she was loved by Erikah Badu and others. I don't know other todays artist who was loved so much by other respectful musicians.
I am fan of Amy, but I don't agree with Tony on his Ella and Billie comparison...at all. In fact, it's totally foolish, since Amy wasn't even a fan or influenced by either of them, she was actually a fan of Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington. She hasn't been a jazz singer or done anything jazz influenced since 2003 when her first album came out. She was more into hip hop and soul from Back to Black onward.
Also, Amy was VERY much in her infancy as an artist, much like Aaliyah.
@cullycucc i agree with what you said, she said in an interview that she prefers sarah over ella. even though she hasn't done jazz since frank, i still believe that she still had it in her, even though she back to black was more soul/hiphop oriented, she still had a technique live...
@cullycucc It doesn't matter, I think Amy was kinda like a female version of Michael Jackson, she could sing every genre, she even pulled of doing reggae. For example you have amazing vocalists like Mariah Carey or Freddie Mercury, but they can't/couldn't pull off every genre, Amy could.
Tony compared a complete waste of time to Ella Fitzgerald, BILLIE fuckin' Holiday, Elvis Presley, The Beatles & the Rolling Stones. Then he mentions lady GAGA. Friggon 'hell.
Tony, it is time for your lime jello and vanilla puddin' packs. Put the IV back in, lay back and relax.
THERE IS NO PHYSICAL WITHDRAWAL from COCAINE, you stupid old ass. It is completely psychological & psychiatric. Unlike any other narcotic such as morphine, there is no physical addiction. Tony shut up and sing. Please?
I can't say I'm sorry. Yes, she had talent but her flame flickered out long ago. If it hadn't she would have had more self-respect than stumbling on stage in a stupor and hurling drunken abuse at her fans when she nearly nodded off in the middle of a show. Portishead is so much more talented and deserving that Whine-house but no one ever gives her credit. "Sour Times" puts to shame anything AW did. As usual, the chaff gets all the credit and the wheat is left to rot.

That's a curious way to describe Lenny: the great philosopher and poet who was on drugs.
Never heard him described like that.
