I have this "phone" for about about 3 months now. It is a totally different experience.....I keep forgetting sometimes that this is a phone. I use the lapdock everyday. There is scope for a lot of improvement however and hope future models take that into account.
Hey Motorola, I have got my ATRIX in Poland..but it was shipped via Germany so it has German version of OS. Currently its on 2.2.. however I believe ATRIX has now been lauched with 2.3 (Gingerbread) .. any chance of getting it on my phone??? If yes then how?? .. I tried to update it .. it always says SW is upto date... please help ...
@PunjabiPunchh When the gingerbread release is made available for German variant you should be able to access, but you may have to follow instruction on the support page of the german motorola dot com website.
this seems to be a neat idea, though I wander about the flash and adobe that is on it. If it is a full version or just a small prtion of it that will allow for it to axccess a limited portion of its functions.

Just to clarify the phone itself has ADOBE FLASH PLAYER integrated, but equally when placed into the HD DOCK (& connected to HDTV) or into the Lapdock, the phone is actually powering a Full FireFox browser to the larger screen, as you would see on any computer. Trust that makes sense.
Only prob is IPhone got more apps than Android:( Motorola, make a OS to Android app converter! Or something similar, if possible. Or google, make companies get 80% of sales instead of 66%
The atrix phone is awsome but only avalable with Bell Canada in Quebec Canada. Do you know when and if it will be avalable in other compagny like Telus or Rogers.
this looks to be the coolest phone. Ever! I'm gonna get it when I get to upgrade my phone ... very soon! the Lapdock looks cool, and makes it easier to see on a big screen, great for when my eyes are tired!
What is incredibly difficult to understand is the stubbornness displayed by the fruit company that simply neglected the possibility of allowing the usage of the imaging application from the company of the expensive software packages. Hopefully the Motorola Atrix will *really* allow the user to be 100% productive in Internet application that require an application called "Flash". Thank you!
@frafor Motorola ATRIX supports flash 10, but also when docked into either the multimedia dock or lapdock, it will also power a full Firefox Browser. Thanks.

I've had the Atrix for one month and it is so much better than my iPhone. This commercial is okay but you should show them doing the same thing WITHOUT the dock, just do it all with the voice commands, that's what is great about the Atrix, not the dock. I want to see the Atrix outsell the lesser iPhone. And I switched away from the iPhone because Steve Jobs said that the iPhone will NEVER do flash web page. I love watching live news on the Atrix!

Convince me Motorola Atrix 4G over the Samsung Galaxy S 2, I'm undecided. Both the UIs, I don't really like, the screens are hard to say but if you take the iPhone 4's similar resolution vs the original Galaxy's SuperAmoled, I'd choose the Galaxy but I have not seen the Atrix's or the Galaxy S 2 in person. HDMI might be pretty useful but I already have a laptop so I don't think ill get the dock if i get the Atrix. One more thing, Galaxy is coming in March to my country, Atrix is unannounced yet.

The fact that Motorola are replying to their YouTube vid, is impressive. This phone has it all, problem now is that I'm torn between 2!! SE Arc or the Atrix? Arc looks fantastic but is 4.2 inch, Atrix is not as Goidelic looking but it's 4inch. Arc has HDMI etc, but this is dual core.. If moto releases this as 2.3 gingerbread i'll buy it.. If not SE here I come

I hated Moto for awhile because of their lack of great software. Same with Sony. Both were on top of the world around 2005 before their sudden drop after 2007 during the iPhone phenomenon. But both companies are making a great comeback and coming out swinging in 2011 thanks to Android. ATRIX, XOOM, XPERIA PLAY, AND NGP all look awesome!
I'm hoping in few years to carry in my pocket 16-core smartphone, with full grown, user-customisable OS, with powerful applications, with ability to dock it to a laptop-dock for using it's touchscreen as a touchpad, or to monitor-dock with a mouse and a keyboard, so it will have more energy for running all 16 cores in computer mode. Smartphone that will be able to replace my MacBookPro.
somone asked about the cpu cooling function..it an on demand type cpu..so at idle it runs at like 200mhz and at full tilt i watches its temp to throtle it respectivly !! awsome

This would be my next phone if I wasn't stuck on a contract with iPhone 4 until next June. I will wait for quad-core next year and just get a Sony NGP later this year. TEGRA 3 should be out by 2012. Single core 1GHZ was last year. Dual core this year. Quad core next year.
I think this phone is before it's time, such brilliant ideas and implementation. I'm happy Motorola is the manufacturer, seeing as how many disappointments HTC has had with its android phones build quality and touch screens. I'm curious though with such a powerful 2 ghz proc and video, one has to wonder about cooling for such a device. Will there be some sort of issue with this? As we all know too well with Pc's over the last decade its been quite an issue. Keep up the good work.
@yusspretaeb Thanks for the support. Honestly, in all testing so far cooling has not been an issue. Everything is optimised for the smartphone environment and we have to say the overall performance is leaps and bounds above existing product in market.
@motorola i got an atrix as a birthday gift. i absolutely adore this phone but it does not come without its glitches. i have to swype the fingerprint scanner with my finger multiple times before it unlocks the phone. i dont know if its just launcher pro but the camera froze my phone for 30 sec once.
@geekconnection lol that's not a glitch that happened to me to you get the hang of it and will be able to do it first time all the time. The phones amazing i'm just wondering when the 2.3 updates is going to happen or not, there's just alot of positive speculation.
Stop crying on who has a better network, or smartphone, technology changes every 3 months so while your bragging about an atrix 3 months later someone else just beat you in specs with some other shit!! Get the phone for what it is specifically for your needs that's it!!!!
@elliott12591 OK, where do I start. Android 2.2 has an internal task manager witch kills tasks as resources are needed, just because a app is "running" doesn't necessarily mean it's really running processes and consuming battery in fact almost all app "running" are just loaded in memory not using battery which save more battery than starting the app from scratch. So killing your apps every 30 minute will result in more battery consumption than just letting them sit on the memory.
@xNzzyz As further distribution is announced we will be happy to share. The laptop dock is a specific Motorola accessory. The ATRIX will obviously work as wifi spot for your own laptop etc, but the laptop dock is a specific solution for those wishing for a lighter way to travel and an integration solution for computer and mobile not previously seen. Hope that helps.

@Zingam Thankyou for your comments. By large screen add on, do you mean to the phone itself, as obviously it ATRIX/HD dock will connect to any HD TV or the laptop dock for big screen entertainment? As for the gamepad add on, thank you for the suggestion. in terms of games, all apps and games will be provided via the Android Market Place.
Large screen addon I mean the same thing like on the video but without external keyboard. Let's say something like a iPhone -> iPad converter (for a comparison). Then I'll have one device to rule them all. With other words: a modular design: when traveling it can be used as a phone, when at home: insert it in a larger casing to get a big 10-12" tablet/ereader (maybe pixel qi) experience and only then add a keyboard to convert it in a netbook. That would be great for me!
If such device exist I'll get it because all my stuff will be on a single device - files, music, address book, etc.
Connection to a HDTV isn't that a big deal for me but a single device replacement for mobile phone, iPad, PSP and ereader - that would be the best. Well the difficult part is: it should not cost more than a notebook/netbook.

Well since Motorola seems to be answering some question. I would like to know if you guys are working with Netflix to get your phone to play nice with them. They posted a while back that Android has a security issue, and that's the main reason for them not releasing the app. They said some manufacturers will have the oportunity to have it install, but not all Android platforms will have it.

@ason1107 iPhone 4 sucked since launch. my D1 could do more than that phone which was released a year later. this is just kicking them while they are down.
@avilajulian it ultimately protects the device to you personally, so no-one else could access anything on that phone that maybe private/confidential. Its easy to set up, is part of the everyday power on button so is not intrusive, and if you really don't want to use it, it can be switched off. Hope that helps.
@motorola But your prints will be all over it, so someone can easily lift your print off it. There's an old trick using Gummy Bears to break fingerprint recognition.
So IF AT&T Gets the ATRIX, what dose Verizon Get. I would be Nice if the Xoom and Droid Bionic were able to work together in a Notebook style, Some kind of Bay Station where both of them were docked like how the Atrix has that Laptop part, I mean Having 2 Devices with There own 2 Core Processors working Together as one....sounds like something out of a Comic book.

multi core phones is a fad that is going to quickly fade out. there are WAY more efficient and faster ways than dual core. 1 core and multiple threads, will save battery life, not make the phones as hot, and will be faster if say there is one core with 4 threads. dual core phones are going to fail. unless you are a moto fanboy. not to mention the only reason for this fast processing power being needed is because Android is a VERY unoptimized OS.

@vgm006 That's because AT&T has the garbage network. I carry around two phones with me almost all the time. My personal Verizon phone and my work AT&T phone. Thankfully I have more minutes than I know what to do with because I can almost never make calls from the field with my work phone. And when I am able to make a phone call, I can't hear anything (tried several different phones too... same results).

@fofamungy123 A comment so played out just like all the other folks who rag on the people who click "dislike." BTW, great phone by Moto. Nice comeback from them. This would be my next phone if I wasn't stuck on a contract with iPhone 4 until next June. I will wait for quad-core next year and just get a Sony NGP later this year. TEGRA 3 should be out by 2012. Single core 1GHZ was last year. Dual core this year. Quad core next year.

I think this phone is before it's time, such brilliant ideas and implementation. I'm happy Motorola is the manufacturer, seeing as how many disappointments HTC has had with its android phones build quality and touch screens. I'm curious though with such a powerful 2 ghz proc and video, one has to wonder about cooling for such a device. Will there be some sort of issue with this? As we all know too well with Pc's over the last decade its been quite an issue. Keep up the good work.

@yusspretaeb Thanks for the support. Honestly, in all testing so far cooling has not been an issue. Everything is optimised for the smartphone environment and we have to say the overall performance is leaps and bounds above existing product in market.

@motorola i got an atrix as a birthday gift. i absolutely adore this phone but it does not come without its glitches. i have to swype the fingerprint scanner with my finger multiple times before it unlocks the phone. i dont know if its just launcher pro but the camera froze my phone for 30 sec once.

@geekconnection lol that's not a glitch that happened to me to you get the hang of it and will be able to do it first time all the time. The phones amazing i'm just wondering when the 2.3 updates is going to happen or not, there's just alot of positive speculation.

Stop crying on who has a better network, or smartphone, technology changes every 3 months so while your bragging about an atrix 3 months later someone else just beat you in specs with some other shit!! Get the phone for what it is specifically for your needs that's it!!!!

@elliott12591 OK, where do I start. Android 2.2 has an internal task manager witch kills tasks as resources are needed, just because a app is "running" doesn't necessarily mean it's really running processes and consuming battery in fact almost all app "running" are just loaded in memory not using battery which save more battery than starting the app from scratch. So killing your apps every 30 minute will result in more battery consumption than just letting them sit on the memory.

@xNzzyz As further distribution is announced we will be happy to share. The laptop dock is a specific Motorola accessory. The ATRIX will obviously work as wifi spot for your own laptop etc, but the laptop dock is a specific solution for those wishing for a lighter way to travel and an integration solution for computer and mobile not previously seen. @Zingam Thankyou for your comments. By large screen add on, do you mean to the phone itself, as obviously it ATRIX/HD dock will connect to any HD TV or the laptop dock for big screen entertainment? As for the gamepad add on, thank you for the suggestion. in terms of games, all apps and games will be provided via the Android Market Place.

Large screen addon I mean the same thing like on the video but without external keyboard. Let's say something like a iPhone -> iPad converter (for a comparison). Then I'll have one device to rule them all. With other words: a modular design: when traveling it can be used as a phone, when at home: insert it in a larger casing to get a big 10-12" tablet/ereader (maybe pixel qi) experience and only then add a keyboard to convert it in a netbook. That would be great for me!

If such device exist I'll get it because all my stuff will be on a single device - files, music, address book, etc.
Connection to a HDTV isn't that a big deal for me but a single device replacement for mobile phone, iPad, PSP and ereader - that would be the best. Well the difficult part is: it should not cost more than a notebook/netbook.

Well since Motorola seems to be answering some question. I would like to know if you guys are working with Netflix to get your phone to play nice with them. They posted a while back that Android has a security issue, and that's the main reason for them not releasing the app. They said some manufacturers will have the oportunity to have it install, but not all Android platforms will have it.

@avilajulian it ultimately protects the device to you personally, so no-one else could access anything on that phone that maybe private/confidential. Its easy to set up, is part of the everyday power on button so is not intrusive, and if you really don't want to use it, it can be switched off. Hope that helps.

I would be Nice if the Xoom and Droid Bionic were able to work together in a Notebook style, Some kind of Bay Station where both of them were docked like how the Atrix has that Laptop part, I mean Having 2 Devices with There own 2 Core Processors working Together as one....sounds like something out of a Comic book.

multi core phones is a fad that is going to quickly fade out. there are WAY more efficient and faster ways than dual core. 1 core and multiple threads, will save battery life, not make the phones as hot, and will be faster if say there is one core with 4 threads. dual core phones are going to fail. unless you are a moto fanboy. not to mention the only reason for this fast processing power being needed is because Android is a VERY unoptimized OS.

@vgm006 That's because AT&T has the garbage network. I carry around two phones with me almost all the time. My personal Verizon phone and my work AT&T phone. Thankfully I have more minutes than I know what to do with because I can almost never make calls from the field with my work phone. And when I am able to make a phone call, I can't hear anything (tried several different phones too... same results).
