We beg to lower our ego, the root cause for all of our sufferings. To lower our ego is a first step towards eliminating it and since the Lord Buddha himself has begged for food, why can't we do the same especially to curry support and to raise funds for your center and Lama.
Offering the Dharma is the highest form of giving or generosity. It is highest because if we do it from a pure motivation, it has the power to transform other people's lives. It will change their karma and destiny.
We are very fortunate to have HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche in Malaysia. Look how he single-handedly build such a huge Buddhist center and organisation here. Even on YouTube, he has such a huge following.
I think Rinpoche has been very hardworking to promote Buddhism and encourage people to commit towards his cause so that many people can be benefitted by this propagation.
I really love that fact that H.E Tsem Rinpoche give in all he has for the growth of dharma in Malaysia. We need teachers who is so down to earth like him.
KMP is a window into Kechara Organisation and HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche. May there be plenty of books coming out of KMP to facilitate that. I understand that KMP is amongst the most important departments of Kechara House.
We should be humble when we practice the Dharma as it allows the Dharma to go in. The practice of humility is to lower our ego so we can gain realisation when we practice the Dharma.
Rinpoche is in Malaysia since 1992. He has created so much benefit, teachings and institutions to further Buddha's teachings. It's amazing! He must be a living Bodhisattva by simply just looking at his works.
Begging always seem to have negative connotation. But actually it is a powerful strength to have because we disarm people and we make people feel at ease with us. While being arrogant and conceited just makes everybody hate you secretly and more people want to get you back and that makes you always uneasy, isn't it?- just little thoughts to share with cyberspace friends...
Buddha Shakyamuni carries a begging bowl to show us that humility and consistent practice leads us to real spiritual practice. Even H E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche's did that and so we should practice humility in our practice.
4.40 begging is used to lower the ego to ask for help, gives connotation we failed. In buddhism its a spiritual and emotional victory. Now thats a contradiction. But i think i get it, we need to put down our ego that causes us so much suffering. Begging is not as easy as it sounds. Ego, pride, for success, makes begging a suitable practice to benefit not just ourselves but also the person giving. Quite deep, what else will give us the same spiritual result?
come to think about it,...we do "beg" our whole life for this or that. It's quite amazing how Tsem Rinpoche explains beggin' which leads to so many related topics.
I love that Rinpoche's teachings span so many different methods, people, places. I like that this teachin shows us what it means to be humble, and how to put that into practice instead of just talking about it. Anyway, we must think why we're "begging" - if it's for Dharma, then the motivation is so high so what is there to be ashamed of!
This is a great talk on begging...it's not a very often-discussed topic. We should direct more people to this video when they ask us why monks beg, and why we should give alms to monks..."a spiritual and emotional victory" - I really like that.
Can I also just say, this is a different style of talk and video to Rinpoche's other videos...not good or bad, just different (don't really like the whooshing background sound though, like a loud hoover!).
most people talk about people getting rich in the new year... when they get the oranges and the red envelopes. But spiritual wealth lasts longer than red envelopes. So happy new year may you all have lots of spiritual wealth. And then come rescue us living beanz.
i just applied for a job that involves being kind of sneaky. then i watched this video as I was filling out the direct deposit form for the job. i know i don't want the job, but i also don't really know... i have $1.40 in the bank for the last 2 weeks. I mean... oh my goodness. It's not that I couldn't be making money, but i hate my sneaky job. Hate it so bad. LOL. But then I was sitting there wondering if hating my job was just a manifestation of ego... it's so confusing. But less dirty.
It all depends on your motivation on working in the job. If it is so that you are able to support yourself so that you are able to practice Buddhism and sustain your offerings to the Buddha, then it's virtuous...as long as it does not involve hurting another person in any way. tsemtulku(dot)com/Forum
hi taliel uhhh i like hate the job so bad. i told myself i needed the money for a dharma book and to do this dharma thing and that dharma activity and so i don't burden people... but i still feel dirty. :( i think it makes me uncompassionate because the customer's aren't really getting what they want. most of the time they don't know. but it is sick. but i think i have to force myself to do it because i kind of need money?
then why not change your job to something that weighs less on your conscience? Or start searching for a new job? It might not be the easiest thing to do but to betray your conscience is even worse as it can last for a very long time. It's great that you have a good connection with the Dharma. Keep it up. kecharahouse(dot)com
i seriously need inner peace im too confused with things ,there so many distractions its seriously a weird and very hard test to be in harmnony with all,
if you need some inner peace, perhaps you can visit neonlama(dot)com to download more of Rinpoche's teachings. They might provide you to some answers...
putting down your ego for the sake of Dharma and beg is something that not a lot of people can achieve. It is indeed very inspiring to see someone who can.
that is one of the few things that tell us if a person is a higher being or a lower one that is too obsessed with his or her own dignity. what's more all of these begging is done in order for Dharma to grow. Imagine the sacrifice!
My supervisor often throws a BS when I ask him quesions (I don't 'beg' him though), and I am always annoyed. With Rinpoche's teaching, I started my 'accept the BS' some time ago, and now I am not as annoyed anymore.
Very very encouraging.....thank you.

Rinpoche's guru devotion is so strong...he came to Malaysia because his gurus told him to. I wonder how many people can do that nowadays.

That was put so well!
For people who have a lot of ego and pride,
Begging would be more difficult than starving.
People with even more pride,
Find it difficult to respect the people who beg for the sake of others...
Thinking of this I feel ashamed...
What achievements is truly worth to feel so proud of? High education? A good job? Money?
Or to give up all that and have no material gain, so that one could help others - The renunciate.
I bow down with respect to these Bodhisattvas.
