Cool vid. gazelles have more stamina than cheeatahs and can make fast distraction moves. A cheetah is faster than a gezelle but it has to be near as possible when the cheetah attacks or the gazelle can outrun a cheetah.
Not forcing, it is not that a question of size but also weight, thus the sand-colored antelopes, and the lechwes are not very fast, especially that this last one and an aquatic antelope.
The fastest are gnus, heartbeest, topi and female Elands (because Male of this espece is often enormous)
ok he outran the cheetah but the only reason was because he kept swirling and at the end you can clearly see the cheetah give up now if he would have ran straight we all know the cheetah would have been having lunch.
If a cheetah had to depend on pronghorn for food they would starve to death they are not only nearly as fast but their eyesight is absolutely amazing and hard stalk not to mention be able to run very long distances at very high speed! they are the best overall running mammal in the world and its not even close a cheetah does not have to chase anything in africa that runs at speeds of a pronhorn there have even been a few pronghorns that have hit 70mph!
not so much unadulterated afterburner speed but imagine the agility and wherwitahl this animal had to zigzag knowing the big turning mass of the cheetah is much HIGHER
How did you get that the pronghorn antelope runs 45-53 mph...? they are the second fastest land animal and they can actually reach speeds of 61 mph! And impalas are not faster than thompsons gazelles.. Impalas can reach 40 -45 mph.. but tommys can reach 50+!
id like to see a cheetah hunt a pronghorn. could be like this vid. cheetah's far quicker, but only 4 a short burst. if the pronghorn could evade for about 10-15 seconds, its safe. the pronghorn evolved to be so quick over long distances to escape te extinct American Cheetah, which was slower than todays cheets
gazelle high speed, anti predator !!! hyena, léopard, lionness high run speed max 37 mph (60 km/h) impossible chazing gazelle, impala, and springbok, antelope agile and running speed 50 a 60 mph (80 a 95 km/h), cheetah high running speed 60 a 70 mph (95 a 115 km/h) exclusive chazing antelope/gazelle speed !
Even though the cheetah is the fastest land animal, the gazelle has more endurance so it enables it to keep going while the cheetah runs out of steam.
@antionidept Ostrich is definitely slower than a gazelle. I also think the Hartebeest is the fastest of the other antelope. So, I am correcting you, youre welcome
@metsdudenj its your, not you're. you don't have enough brain cells to make a point. na, im just kidding. youtube "cheetahs hunt ostrich" and i heard it there.
@metsdudenj The ostrich is faster than the small gazelle of thomson which have sees in the video...
But springboks, impalas, gazelle of grants and gazelle dama, are the fastest antelopes (60 mph). The hartebeest is not the fastest, she runs has 43 mph, just a little faster than the gnu antelope 40 mph.
And in reality the small gazelle of thomson which we see in the video short has 40 mph max and not 50...
@03creAtif03 Hmm, I have to tell you I dont agree. Gazelle's are I believe the fastest antelope. They are certainly faster than an Ostrich. The hartebeest I believe is the faster of the larger antelope. I dont think Lechwe, kob, sable, kudu, or eland are faster than the hartebeest.
@metsdudenj The small gazelle as the thomson are not faster than an ostrich, on the other hand the great gazelles as an impala, springbok or gazelle dama, are it. The big antelopes about which you speak are fast but do not exceed 43 mph (because they are certainly big but heavy also), such hartebeest and gnus. Kudus and kobs not atteingent not. Lechwe is an aquatic antelope, she is fast only on wet ground, has cause of her clogs.
@metsdudenj The small gazelle as the thomson are not faster than an ostrich, on the other hand the great gazelles as an impala, springbok or gazelle dama, are it.

Cheetahs are fast and the only reason the gazelle outran it is because to keep that constant speed it takes a lot of energy so the cheetah cant run for to long.
gazelles out maneuver cheetahs more often then not (1/5) times cheetahs catch them. Cheetahs need to get very close or else they don't have a chance.. gazelles are the fastest animal after the cheetah in africa so it isn't an easy hunt.
I like cheetahs but I love gazelles. They are like so adorable and while being chased they run like crazy in a cute way. I know it's nature but the gazelles deserve life as much as the cheetahs.
Because Zebras, on average, weight six to eight hundred pounds...An adult Zebra would kill a cheetah with one kick. If Lions have to hunt Zebras in a pride what chance does a lone cheetah have?
you mean a foal. and yes cheetahs do eat baby zebras, wildebeests, and pretty much any baby antelope... but it is tough for them to catch adult zebras. (they are obviously too powerful for them). and adult wildebeests give them a heck of a lot of trouble so they usually don't have a chance unless they hunt in pairs, or three. The tough part about adult antelope (gazelles for example) is that they are very fast and are a big challenge.. so they need to get very close in order to succeed.
the zebra fawns are protected by their mothers. if male cheetahs hunt in groups they may distract the mother while 1 kills the fawns. but a solo cheetah would be killed if the zebra manages to land one kick on it. not to mention in the herd there's more than one zebra...
Gazelle de thomson, tres rapide 80 à 90 km/h, emem le guépardle seul prédateur pouvant la capturés, ne court que sur 300 metres max, tommy peut courir a 85 km/h sur 800 metres.
this cheetah is eitheir tired from a previous failed chase VS a fully grown antelope or hungry, becose usually baby antelopes like this 1 are easy to capture espacially if they dont zig zag much (like this 1)...But it sure was funny how is felt like it just speeded up at the end and the "dumb" kinda looked surprised LOL
When I was little i was always fascinated about the speed of animals.. and tommies have always been one my favorites...extremely fast animals. quick at dodging and zigzagging.. they definitely need a lot of recognition.. perhaps even more than a cheetah... good video. They are the fastest Antelope in Africa (average 50mph).. together with the springbok.
lol a cheetah can't do shit to it. a cheetah would probably get critically wounded if the zebra kicked it, and would lack the strength to bring it down.
Yes gazelles can attain their constant speed for over 6 minutes without stopping tahts why some gazelles can outrun cheetahs. Gazelles have more stamina than cheetah.
i seriously doubt that the gazelle would have won at any other time. For some reason, that cheetah didn't feel inclined to chase it. 60mph runners don't lose to gazelle
Gazelles can run at 55 miles per hour and when they initial sprint is finished they can endure at 40 mph for 30 minutes...All the Gazelle has to do is outlast the cheetah who gets winded in under a minute. That is why gazelles don't run in a straight line. The Cheetah is the faster runner, but only in a sprint. As you can see running in excess of 60 don't mean beans. That little Tommy doe could run her ass off.
Tommies are the fastest animal in Africa, after the cheetah. Impalas are quick; however, they don't have the speed or stamina of a Thomson's Gazelle. Impala can run at over 40 miles per hour. Tommy Gazelles can run in excess of 55 mph.
Interesting!. When I googled fastest antelope in Africa Tessebe or Hartbeast popped up every where. Plus, Once I was watching national geographic and the narrator also said this antelope was the fastest in Africa.
Are you retarded? Stop believing documentaries. More than half of cheetah hunts go unsuccessfully. A gazelle cannot be caught unless a cheetah is within 30 yards. Even then, the gazelle turns really fast and has way more stamina than a cheetah and can juke it.
cheetahs are most successful hunting fawns, since they are a bit slower than adults. even still, only 1 in 20 cheetah cubs lives to see adulthood, that's how tough their hunter lives are. speed comes with a heavy price.
holy shit shut the fuck up already i don't even care anymore. you replied what a month after my original post. don't call me retarded asshole i was told my entire life that cheetahs are the fastest land animal on the planet don't expect me to change it over 2 minute clip. fine. you said all that. thank you. just don't be an asshole about it.
also, a cheetah never ever hunts if it doesn't feel inclined to chase. its not something that's just fucking easy. it takes a hell of a lot energy and they end up exhausted to the core after every fucking chase, successful or not.
That is called outrunning! It doesn't matter which is faster. If the gazelle gets away it outran the cheetah. Furthermore, the Cheetah is only good in a sprint. The Tommy Gazelle is a true long distance runner. That is why Tommies escape more often than they are caught.
Cool vid. gazelles have more stamina than cheeatahs and can make fast distraction moves. A cheetah is faster than a gezelle but it has to be near as possible when the cheetah attacks or the gazelle can outrun a cheetah.
