    Im fully aware of that, my point is that the amount of energy consumed by separating the hydrogen molecule exceeds the energy gained by introducing it into the combustion chamber.

  • With copper connections the risk of a spark is way to big, and during the electrolysis process it eats away the copper. That is why most people use 316L stainless steel. It is not the best, but the best of all the materials that are affordable. You can get them plates Nano coated, watch the videos from HHOPWR. Greets, iT

  • no bomb, thousands of people, including myself make these kind of devices. As long as you don't put copper electrical connections inside the container, not much can go wrong. Besides that, this is an older design, Check youtube for the words DRY CELL. It's always funny to see people talk about things they have never tried themselves, like if they know it all.

  • to a certain point it is safe, I tried it myself with 10 and with 20 amps at 13.4 volts, no problem at all But there is a point that it becomes very dangerous. Besides that, the chemicals that are used make it very unhealthy to put your hand inside the water. When Sodium Hydroxide is used as an electrolyte do don't want to touch the water at all, it would leave you with burn marks, it eats up your skin.

  • so I am making a hho generator also and I have been using baking soda because I couldn't find lye but baking soda produces a lot co2 and when I put a lighter in it made tiny pop sounds and finally yesterday I got some lye and I popped some of those bubbles and I almost pissed my pants it was sooo loud like a fire cracker lol

  • hey i think there is a problem with the way everyone is getting this gas... last week i learned how to get hydrogen and oxygen apart and from what i know you get hydrogen off of the negative contact and oxygen off the positive... so if you dont have it in a sealed and separate container you just making more water vapor....i think not sure idk?

  • I think you used a a/c condenser but the damn thing is aluminum, it will corrode pretty darn fast!!! wont last long and will contaminate the water.

    HHO gas floats up to the ceiling in a house do project outside.

    Use wind power while driving down the road the wind resistance

    against the car and a wind turbine connected to the HHO cell.

  • Very nice. I have mine setup with similar type object but mine is made of copper for a bit more conductivity. I have it in a 5 gallon bucket with a modified lid connected to a bubbler. I use baking soda fro the electrolytes. The power source is a little insane, it's a 100 amp welder.

  • I went to home depot got 3 ss outlet plates placed a larger thick rubberband between the plates on its side used one piece of tape to hold it together used a coleman refrigerator power supply and a 12 volt plug in neg on center plate positive on outter plates did a half ass assembly and this worked small amount of salt some dish soap to contain some of the gas in bubbles and got a match and it was blowing out the match unbeliveable how easy this is and very powerful. Cleaned my coffee cup too.

  • you put energy in the water to make it hydrogen and oxygen gas, then you gain the energy back by burning the hydrogen, so you have no net win of energy, you will even lose some energy because energy is lost during the proces. Hope you learn something from me:) You can learn this stuff in physics and chemistry (and on wikipedia).

  • do you make the hydrogen in your car with the car battery for power? I though hydrogen fullfills the same role as a battery: an energy carrier. You make it at home or somewhere else where there is electrical energy available. Then you put it in a tank and get energy again by letting the hydrogen react. I understand that it will be cheaper to make hydrogen an use that instead of gasoline and that you wont have co2 emissions but that was not what I was trying to say.

  • @stoyashot this isnt a fuel cell, its a hho generator, he's getting hydrogen and oxygen... you feed it into any combustion engine and its reduces or even eliminates the need for gasoline and other fuels.

  • @Me102288 I know that but when you are telling this story people might forget that the whole point of running on H2 gas is based upon the idea that you make a factory or whater where you EFFECTIVELY create H2 gas (and O2 gas) so you can use it as alternative strong energy CARRIER, then you put it in some kind of fuel cell and EFFECTIVELY get the energy back which you can use for making a car run or whatever. 

  • @stoyashot make a factory and what? store an extremely explosive fuel? hell no, way less safer then using an on demand system. energy carrier? uh no , you generate it on demand because combusting engines run on explosive fuel.. and low and behold the only exaust you get back is water.

    dont listen to the government stuff on getting electricity from water, or "fuel cells" they're only up to 150 kilometres on 30 gallons of h2... I can cut almost 50% off my gasoline use already :-\

I really do want to have efficient transport vehicles and stop using fossil oils as much as possible but you must know that I live in Holland and I ride my bike almost everyday so I am not thinking cars, cars, cars. Not saying you do but still I rather have everyone riding bikes :P

Search for "The War Against Low Temperature Fusion" and LERN (Low Energy Nuclear Reaction). It is not beyond the realm of suitably equipped enthusiasts to produce positive energy gains with this technique. We stand on the verge of a frontier if this HHO silliness is abandoned in pursuit of real science.

  • at the same time, the government isnt too likely to go after people making HHO gas as it's on-demand (and not as usable as a weapon, except when stored in mass quantities).

    Nuclear however.. in any situation (low energy or not) the government (at least here in the states) would not be very happy w/ enthusiasts doing this at home.. and with the terrorism and environmental concerns, you'd probably be looking at fines at the very least.. possibly jail time or worse if they wanted to im sure..

  • I agree that cool nuclear energy would be ideal, but you cant just go to your local hardware store and pick up some radioactive materials and start experimenting. So I agree with you and Im for experimenting with materials that come out of your tap at home. There is potential behind it. Once they thought that our planet was flat!!

  • We have a finite amount of fuel for nuclear that will run out but a solar cell producing hydrogen is a 40 year deal. However long the solar cell will last. I ahve an example of a man that has his house off the grid and is fueling the car on hydrogen not hho.

  • The man vents the O and keeps just the H when he uses the fuel it uses the O that is already in the air H is too light to be at our level. Our air at sea level is mostly nitrogen & oxygen and 1% argon. the air is this b/c of stratofication. If you go on a mountian there is less O b/c of its weight O is heavy and H is light. If you have pure O and pure H and introduce the gasses they spontaniously combust this is why the man vents the O and keeps the H. O supply is only needed in space.

  • No, it works. There are just a lot of people posting videos of their own designs trying to make something that works more efficiently. There are tons of people that get increases in MPG with even cheap units, but it's better to have a good one and know what you're doing. Look around, it's for real guys.

  • my word of advice, do not buy any complete kit available today. they at best produce a .01 mpg increase. you can do that yourself leaning out the fuel mix alone. just watch your knock sensor though. ting ting TING TING CLANK BANG!

  • if anyone is out for a try at this i suggest finding free information, doing a little research, take at trip to your local hardware store and alloy supplier and spend a few weekends in the garage yourself.

    until I or anyone has gone through all the possible creations and comes up empty handed will I choose to let this go. but until then I will remain open minded and give it the benefit of the doubt.

  • simply speaking though. if i could make a unit that helped out when idling would greatly increase my city mileage and that alone would make me happy. my big v8 is horrible at idle as so with most engines.

    who knows, maybe a unit or several like this in the home powered by solar or wind power with a compressor to fill a hydrogen only tank is what we will end up with.

  • another factor is heat produced in the cell. there are several ways to counter act this.

    beyond that you have to tie the system into the car itself. having a constant flow of gas at a constant rate really wont work that well. higher rpm needs more gas. the other factor being the o2 sensor going out of wack. that would need to be monitored and adjusted based on gas output.

  • the question that should be asked is can this concept work? the answer is so far no, but maybe it could.

    there are so many variables involved with this thing to work. nearly all units don't take in to consideration all the variables. first one being the electrolyte. if you use the wrong one you will produce just oxygen or just hydrogen. or an unbalanced combination of the 2. how is this possible? the electrolyte will react as well producing by products in the mix. do your research.

  • car alternators are 2 phase and 3 phase units. they are designed to meet the cars needs with a little extra. you could rewind the alternator as done in the car audio hobby. as well there are generators more efficient than those found in cars. you could get a really efficient high output alternator to produce the needed power so a hydrogen generator could be possible.

    first thing first, those who claim these units produce something out of nothing can go fly kites. those who are half way intelligent will realize that these units are trying to use unused electricity from alternators.

    1.Make the gas.

    2.Deliver the gas(in hho state)to the throttle body.

    3.Control the gas temp.for stability.(gas v.water.)

    4.Control the ecm to use hho for fuel savings/mpg.

    5.Control heat throughout wiring/cell(sustainability)

    ..and don't forget the auto industry has programmed the ecm to safeguard its demand for fuel wasting/consumption.

  • Ozmodius is right - the Carnot cycle is low efficiency, and the PV cycle cannot exceed [1-(Tc/Th)] where Th and Tc are the hot and cold reservoirs in degrees Kelvin. If Tc is ambient, Th needs to be high to extract more of the thermal energy. But higher Th needs expensive materials...and this is the MAX you can get. The other side generators, etc. are just to get closer to the Carnot efficiency. BUT ---- THIS IS STILL NOT GOING TO GET YOU MORE THAN YOU PUT IN. HHO will not get you "more energy".

  • Sure, a "truely" (?) educated man can never say "never", but the laws of thermodynamics are so fundamental that I have never heard them broken, ever in the macro world. Can you point out where? Ever? No - these laws are like gravity: you'll hear that levitation is possible, but only with lights and mirrors. Try breaking the law of gravity and see what happens while saying "nothing is impossibleeeeee"-splat. This is the same. Show the numbers why electrolysis is not just what is happening here.

  • Most combustion engines utilize somewhere in between 5 and 10 percent of the energy from fuel. The rest is wasted as heat, noise and electricity from the altinator/stator/generator these devices produce an almost (dependent on rpms) constant flow of juice, it is then regulated (read wasted) down to what is being used. There are also ways of using the heat generated to create a small steam turbine to create even more electricity for the electolysis.

  • Wow - this shows that water electrolysis works. It's only a 2 century old experiment.

    Of course it works! But you only get out what you had put in to get the hydrogen in the first place. Second law of thermodynamics says you can never get all of it back.

    So - electrolyze the water, burn the hydrogen it gives off to run the car, have the engine run an alternator to recharge the battery to electrolize more water? That's the plan? If that's it, go get a real education and save your money.

  • If you were truely educated, you'd know that scientific law, especially the laws of thermodynamics, are no strangers to being broken.

    You learn a law, and wrap your mind around the absolutness of it, because it is, as your percieve it concrete and unyielding. Therefore, when someone comes along and breaks that law, through perfectly logical science, it say "impossible".

    Nothing is impossible, and a true man of science would acknowledge that.

  • made my first HHO. So how much baking soda did you put in the water? I noticed more soda more electrolysis. But also more heat and more amp draw. 8 plate wall socket config. alternating plates with 1/8 inch gap.

  • yeah tha's right it doesn't mean that the spinning alternator always creates power.But it does not also mean that when you add something in the car ,it cannot operate anymore.Just like sound system and lights..An alternator can accomodate those extra load as long it is tolerable. There is a max power usually written in the body of the alternator.

  • OK guys, just because an alternator is spinning doesn't mean it is making power!

    When the battery is charged, the alt pretty much cuts out the charging circuit and just spins freely. When power is needed the charging circuits kick in and the alt begins to put a mechanical drain on the engine as the alternator gets harder to turn.

    how much HP does it take to run an alternator at a constant 20 amps? I don't know, but I know that it's not free.

  • there are alternators that are self exciting. Meaning they generate electricity when they reach a certain RPM. Alternators when generating electricity have very little drag. A electric fan when spun generates electricity. I know this because I connected a extra electric fan to my vehicle and hot wired it to the pos of the distributor. When i cut the power the vehicle kept running until my fans stopped spinning.

  • When you use stainless steel, you produce hydrogen gas (H2), oxygen gas (O2) and HEXAVALIENT CHROMIUM (aka Erin Brokavich's claim to fame). This stuff is a VERY nasty heavy toxic metal. 1ppm in drinking water is unsafe. I'm concerned people are building these things and dumping the waste down the drain, saying they "beat big oil and big oil is conspiring to keep this solution quiet".

    VERY BAD STUFF! They don't put these things in cars for a reason.

  • Most of us know that when you cut, weld, grind, or otherwise manipulate stainless steel you liberate minute amounts of hexavalent chromium - this is true.

    Where is your source for your statement that it is released when current is passed through the metal?

    Since the metal is stainless and thus not oxidizing (no metal lost), at what point are we leeching chromium?

  • thats a very good point however you could overcome the problem by converting via catalitic reaction to make it more stable and less carcinogenic if not at all but hell carcinogens are in the air 24/7 so its no biggie just avoid long term exposhure and high dosage (ppm)

  • produce on an "as needed" basis. storage of the gaseous mixture produced is unstable for compression and storage unless frozen. research "limelight" and "william brown's gas"

  • Okay morons. It is H2 and O2. Not HHo or H H O or anything else. It is quite obviously discussed as HHO, because most folks interested in this refer to it that way. Now, I am encouraging everyone to record their results in terms of liters per amp-minute. This will give us all a uniform way to compare the effeciencies of different designs. Also, we should all be noting how much heat build-up is occuring under different conditions.

  • I have an idea someone needs to try. I'm thinking outside the box here. You take stainless screen disks about 1/2" dia. You need about 100 of them. Align them in a 1/2" pvc pipe. Each screen is separated about .005" apart. Apply the old +-+-+- setup. Mount vertical on firewall of car. Install a dripper inline like a I.V. Install unit inline on a vacume hose. Add 36 volts (three batts).. All sealed system. What do you think? I have the tools to make.. No time with 2 jobs! and I need a camcorder!

  • This is true, but the energy they are using would otherwise be wasted from the alternator once the battery is full. People are simply capturing the energy from the alternator and converting it to a combustable gas then reusing the gas. look at super chargers, turbo chargers.  Exactly how hybrid gas/elec cars work, they simply recapture otherwsie wasted kinetic energy (flywheel, breaks etc)and use it to recharge a battery they are not creating energy, just using it better.

  • I have read a ton of people say that you can't get more energy out than you put in or this is inefficient and so on. My question is: How efficient is a combustion engine? Is HHO production more efficient than that? If it is more efficient, it should help mileage. Any thoughts?

  • Efficiencies of a car turning combustable potential energy into moving kinetic energy are low, not only does the fuel combust poorly (if petrol hydrocarbons burned 100% you wouldnt have monoxides) but the friction in the engine, in the drive shafts, in the wheels etc all hinder the chance of getting the energy from the petrol to your movement.

    what this system does is tries to capture an otherwise wasted electricity and re-input back to engine by way of a combustable gas. It is not a miracle

  • The load on the alternator drops when the battery is full, hooking it up to an HHO generator will increase and sustain this load which WILL reduce mileage. Turbos and Superchargers aim to increase flow and power, they actually lower efficency, hybrida are not all that much better, take a look at a 1985 Honda Civic CRX HF and you will see it can be done on nothing but gas.

  • Generators like the one above trick people, that one is using WAY more power than you can get from a cars electrical system, the ones built for cars are puny compared to it and produce low amounts of HHO.

  • Actually, gasoline/diesel are much more stable than HHO, most of the time the fuel is in metal tubing or re-inforced rubber hoses.

    Gas/diesel burn at a slower rate when a leak happens in a hose/line thanlight gasses such as HHO.

  • lol... HHO is water where in the elements have been forced apart by means of electrolysis. So you really are wrong johnnyboy... The gas produced by HHO units is just that, 2 parts hydrogen to one part oxygen. the reason its not water is that none of the molecules are bonded.

  • well most engineers dont know cars really work. a bunch of book knowledge and no common sence. a car is already producing between 60 and 80 amps. there are also alternators that produce up to 160 amps. then all cars come from the factory with a rich fuel curve. ask any engine tuner. so let see cut fuel, use electric from ur alt that is already being produced, feed in gas that promotes a better and more complete burn and get an more efficient stroke. i can see y this wont work?? gas is in tube

    Alternators don't produce 'wasted' energy.

    The voltage regulator makes sure the alternator produces electricity as required.

    The '160' amp rating is the max output possible. They almost never run at this - or your car will stop working.

    A little bit of math on energy co-efficiency will show you that this actually takes more energy than it is worth.

  • I highly doubt S Meyers and D Dingel worked for all those years perfecting this, to scam you. They simply wanted a cheaper and greener way to power their vehicals and homes. Where they messed up was trying to mass market this technology. Once they threated to dip into oil companies coolaid thats when they were dicredited and silenced. Think about it for a sec. Why would anyone that makes $ off oil want you to do this. It would drastically cut into their profits. So they dicredit it.
