this is before digital voice enhancment

  • Comment removed

  • @sedgmick Sorry yeah.

Saturday Night Special at Hammersmith Odeon with Ed King 1975

  • Oh yeah! Old southern kind of rock´n´roll. I love this shit babes

  • 20 Dislikes for this video? Strange people!

  • @OnTheLibraryComputer They're just trolling Bieber fans, getting a little pay-back for all of the hate directed at him.

  • @HemiHead66 ...as kind of irrational as that possibility is lol, it's the only one that makes sense. Who could possibly dislike this song, this band, this time in rock music. Let's not mention that Bieber guy's name again, especially in the presence of anything Skynryd :)

  • greatest Southern band ever, RIP Ronnie

  • dickin the goat says it all?????????????/ oh well now i have heard it all

  • zz top was a blues band and they ain't sloutches either, gibbons ain't bad in anybodies book except someone who doesn't play anything except the player

  • One of the tightest live Rock 'N Roll bands of all time, right here.

  • バート・レイノルズ #eiga "ロンゲスト・ヤード"の猛烈必殺テーマ・チューンだったレーナード・スキナードのハード・ブギ"サタデイ・ナイト・スペシャル"(ライヴ)

  • OH, To be there again....mmmmmmm

  • zz top blows if you are comparing them to lynrd, actually they blow any way. they are actors pretending to be a rock band. skynrd is the real mc coy

  • Great country rock band.Folks who like this should check out David Allan Coe too.

  • This song is in the soundtrack of my life.

  • Of the Southern Fried Rock bands that came out of The 70's, I liked The Eagles and ZZ Top better. For those who liked Lynyrd Skynyrd, if they turn your crank, more power to you.

  • Pyle never got the deserved attention as an amazing drummer. You have to be to support that three headed guitar monster.

  • the 20 people who disliked this should be shot with a barrel thats blue and gold!

  • @somberdrums Um, it's "Blue and Cold", not "gold".

  • @somberdrums... damn now that's some funny shit right there

  • Dang, the url don't work. This is what the video is called: Lynyrd Skynyrd Vintage Jams Part 9.

  • Nice song. Really rocks. But, it looks to me like the guy that starts showing up around 4 min 30 sec must have went to the wrong concert.

  • @divie137 Tom Petty!! lol

  • Gran sonido el de este directo, una buena sonorización hace que las canciones de estudio puedan ser mejoradas, como en este caso...

  • i just shit my own dick

  • Van Zant, you badass

  • IF RONNIE VAN ZANT COULD SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOINGHE WOULD TURN OVER IN HIS GRAVE

  • Watching this i thought to myself, "How come i never really heard of the guitarist from Lynyrd Skynyrd like i know Eric Clapton or Jimi Hendrix? This guy is fuckin awesome and i can't think of anybody else from that time period playing like that. It sounds original but familiar. Other guitarists etched out their style and were known for it by name. Why have I never heard of this guy?" Then i realized its becuz he never marketed himself that way. Its Lynyrd Skynyrd the BAND, not just a guitarist.

  • @MrJordanisking: Easy: because there wasn't just one to take all the glory, they had to split it up evenly.

Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, Steve Gaines, and Ed King. Hell, even later on when they formed what I call the "Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Band" they still had Hughie Thomasson and Ricky Medlocke.

  • I think that person at 4:33 is trippin a little too hard

  • @ConcreteSurfer420 Yeah I totally caught that. :-P

  • The guitar is talking!

  • 20 people thought Lynyrd Skynyrd was a real person

  • @IMSA28: To a degree Lynyrd Skynyrd IS a real person. The band was named after Leonard Skinner, their school gym coach.

  • Love the band, love the song, but I have to ask why, despite the sound of screaming girls in the background, we only see close-up shots of drunk/stoned boys nodding their heads to the music in the crowd? One would think from watching this video that there were no girls in attendance!!

  • Most under-rated band ever, and I mean it!

  • Fuck - we got tickets for the 1975 Hammersmith Odeon gig - the band still with Ed King. On the way the car died and we were stuck in Bow Rd. We clubbed-together money to get the tube-train to Hammersmith -where we had front-row circle seats.

We ran up the stairs and could hear the intro for a song -it was loud.

The song hit us hard as we fell through the door and I'd never heard anything so pure and perfect before and so loud. Never seen fireworks at a gig before either!

    The song was this one.

  • PROOF . .OTIS From devils rejects on drums!!!

  • yup...one of my favorites

  • another example of the back up band is better than the headliner.

  • "Ain't good for nothing but puttin a man 6 feet in a hole"

  • What happened to real tallent..

Everything is edited these days listen to this it sounds like studio version..

  • The first time I heard this song was in the Burt Reynolds movie "The Longest Yard" .. he was driving his wife's car and being chased by the police .. Saturday Night Special fan since ! ..

  • I love when he talks about the poker situation..I've been in that situation and it' was not fun.

  • What do ya think ole boy in the audience @ 0:16 was smokin' :)??

  • killer. . .

  • My first concert was Skynard------------------

  • This is live at the Knebworth Festival in 1975 not Saturday Night Special.

  • @ScotRanger1960 This is a song, not a place. Venue seems to be noted in the description. Pay attention son.

  • @cantle26 Woops, sorry mate. Sometimes I'm too eager to jump in.

  • Absolutely, one of the brightest treasures in America's rock and roll history, much love from Mexico..

  • lol THE MATCHBOOK TRICK...had to do that to a few of my '8-Tracks' back in the day! Music these days just cannot compare anymore!

  • That was the tightest sounding live shit I have heard, quite possibly ever.

  • I was raised on skynard son

  • @MrZpeppers ----It don't get no better, does it?

  • @MrZpeppers hell ya me 2

  • @MrZpeppers skynyrd

  • @MrZpeppers For someone "raised on Skynyrd", you sure know how to spell their name wrong. Just sayin'..

  • @MrZpeppers If you were raised on "Skynyrd", learn how to spell it!!! Dumb Redneck!

  • @mikemcpeak714 dumb redneck? wow really? whats wrong with being a redneck? I swear...some ignorant people these days...

  • @mikemcpeak714 Hi. Did you know that Ronnie Van Zant considered himself a redneck?. And he say that in US "you don´t have to be black to be a nigger". And finally, he considered the "american dream" a nightmare he was trying to get up from. I read that in the liner notes of the Skynyrd´s Best Of Millenium Compilation. Cheers!

  • 19 people got shot with Saturday Night Specials!

  • heheh sat nite special tonite, and i stoked

  • "Looky Here!!" Ain't good for nothing, put a man 6' in a hole" MR. SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL!! Rock on....

  • Skynyrd was on their way to being the biggest rock band in the world. Just imagine how many songs Ronnie would have written by now. It just blows your mind. He did so much in so little time.

  • That times gone forever but the music goes on.

  • Neil Young and Ronnie were freinds, he wrote the song Powderfinger for them to record but then fate stepped in...

  • Wait Wait! Singer for Smashing Pumkins at 1:48

  • @mmm9mmm9 hahahahahaha

  • 8-track tapes didnt last long back then when you played them alot...I remember buying zed zepplin 3 on 8-track

  • I wounder if the people in the crowd realised how lucky they were to be witnessing one of the greatest of all time. Wish i was born a little ealier and could have seen them. RIP ronnie.

  • The bankers did it! The confedcracy is back! Its over for the terrioust bankers! Thank god for the conferercy!

  • 19 dislikes are the work of al-queda

  • Awesome

  • Gary is badass

  • @rickswar - actually Michael Jackson sold more records than anyone ever with his release,"Thriller" produced and written by Bruce Swedien and Quincy Jones. Get it right if you're gonna call someone stupid

  • The way the guitar starts out is just awesome. Folks this was 35 years ago and it still is as good as it was in '76. Also the message is still as strong as ever. Guns are no good in 2011 as will as 1976.....

  • God damn kids and their mp3's!

  • fuck johnny cash LS is the real f'in deal bro!

  • I got a Skynyrd tape stuck in my car once. It was there for over a year!

My buddies called it "The car of eternal Skynyrd!"

  • @TheFreak2185 The car of eternal skynyrd,quality comment.thumbs up.

  • 19 of the people who disliked this are niggers

  • Comment removed

  • @schnadegernade fuck you

  • @schnadegernade Agree brother

  • @bigman300 You Got That Right!!!!!! There will be another time like this one in the concert. Everytime I watch Skynyrd it makes me sad though, such incredibly talented guys.

  • Old school music rocks and rules, you whimps today have nothing,we had the best of everything and WE ruled the land and all the belongings lol..

  • @bigman300ful what about the whimps who listen to old school music?

  • @Django5198 whimps

  • @bigman300ful fair enough

  • My father had AN eight track in his Dodge Challenger one of two in New Zealand we would sink into those big leather seats and listen to surround heaven aka Lynard Skinner and other greats back in the seventies

  • like I'm at the show! ; )

  • Preach it Ronnie! and what about the Okie? Steve Gaines was the man,not takeing anything from Gary or Allen, but Steve Gaines was, well words cant discribe him!!!

  • rock on

  • fuckin love this song...great performance

  • I'm sure The Stones sounded even better when they took the stage later that night,

    BWaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oooh god damn allan and gary is tight! i mean just look at 2:13 they even fixed their hair at the same time :D

  • screaming dueling guitars! skynyrd excellent back then

  • This song is about the gun most of us have .I understand thier meaning ,but they also put it in perspective about how stupid people can be when other things influence how you act.

  • back in the day that wide leather strap that gary used wrapped around his leg what was the name of that guitar strap????

  • Any inexpensive Gun that can be purchased, used on a "Saturday Night" (the common night for trouble) then thrown away.

  • This is the song that is blaring out of Burt Reynolds car while he's being chased by the cops at the beginning of The Longest Yard. Loved it since 1974.

  • I remember having the 8 track of this and we played it so much in the car that we had to stick a book of matches under it so it would play right. Does anyone remember doing that?

  • @gklcinc Yes sir I do!

  • @mrmarkymark77 Awww the good ole days C:

  • @gklcinc -ohh yeah all the time.my 69 camero had a decent 8 track but when the tape started dragging the old trusted matchbook would come out.

  • @soonerdog2024 I remember the matchbook trick. I had a 68 chevelle with an 8 track in it. Ah, the good old days for sure.

  • @gklcinc hell to the yeah! *8 tracks were the shit!

  • @gklcinc I guess that was a trait of 8 track tapes when they were well liked. I still have a small box of 4 track tapes. I found them dumped on a service road for utilities

  • @gklcinc Yeah we were in my 66 Ford pickup

  • @gklcinc

or a pack of rolling papers, both worked well....

  • @gklcinc hahaha ya. rock on man.

  • @gklcinc Yeah but I was just a bit too proud so I used a broken emry board (Nail file) and made it small enough that only my best friend and His And My Old lady knew about it Good listening Huh !

  • Its is amazing that after all of this time this is still music that can not be denied. Say what you want about marketing or personal beliefs it has the power to move you. It is something that we can all identify with.

  • Respond to this video...

  • This was Neil Youngs favorite song and Neil was an Honorary Pallbeared at Ronnie's funeral.

  • Wish I was there but I wasn't even born for another 3 years

  • Fuckin deadly

  • southern rock.

    FOREVER

  • this is from free bird the movie FYI

  • Greastest Band Ever!!!!! I'd love to have a video of this concert.

  • Greastest Band Ever!!!!!

  • r.i.p lynard skynard

  • Neil Young created 19 youtube accounts just so he could dislike it

  • @GLYDR Neil Young was a big Skynyrd fan

  • @GLYDR Neil Young was a big Skynyrd fan.

  • @GLYDR and lynard skynnard made nine youtube accounts to like your comment

  • @GLYDR Haha, but the fact is Neil Young and Lynyrd Skynyrd did like each other.

  • @GLYDR

    LOL, Skynyrd was/is awesome!

  • @GLYDR

Actually, N.Y. is on record as digging Skynyrd...but I get what you're saying...

  • @GLYDR i don't get it

  • @GLYDR Haha that's funny, even though Ronnie Van Zant and the rest of Skynyrd loved Neil Young, and Neil and the Ronnie were in contact with each other not long before the big crash. It's also said that Ronnie was buried in his Neil Young Tonight's the Night shirt, the same one he wore in Oakland in 1977.

  • @GLYDR *sigh, Neil and Ronnie were good friends

  • @snipski0894 yeah it's a joke mate, you know, humour an that

  • @GLYDR Actually lynyrd skynyrd and neil young were fans of eachothers music, and infact if the plane crash wouldn't have happened they would have toured in the summer of 1978

  • i like those red pants.

  • I can't listen to their albums. I have to listen to their live performances. Whatever they do on stage just dwarfs whatever they record in the studio.

  • greatest Southern Rock band ever, sad most of them arent with us anymore

  • caught this tour ames iowa hilton auditorium...dead center front row...as good as it gets...steve gaines...what a hire he was !

  • Ed King said this was Gary's shining moment.......His masterpiece......He said Gary is a great guitarist......But he thought this was his best work.

  • Why did "Big Jim" need a pistol???

  • @Dedhedted71 Because Big Jim was not a communist leftywing Libtard like you.

  • @scott4xtc Wow! You must have been the wet spot your momma rolled over onto after your daddy got done spanking his monkey! Not that I owe any dickhead an explanation but........ I have a closet full of guns, I am a registered republican, I'm conservative, obviously 10 times smarter than your dumb ass, I don't make moronic assumptions about people based on a screen name, I dig music, & I piss on idiots like you!

  • @Dedhedted71 Come on Little Tiger, put your purse down and act like a man.

  • @scott4xtc Put down the xbox & get a brain! What are you??? Freakin 2 yrs old??? Start stupid shit with people for no reason other than you're a stupid jackass? Yea yer reaaaal cooool duuuude.

  • @Dedhedted71 Crybaby Bitch, change your pink panties and get you a bottle.

  • @scott4xtc Yea you're just pissed that you made an ass of yourself & got punked!

  • @Dedhedted71 It sounds like you must have got some sand in your pussy when your boyfriend was fuking you.

  • @scott4xtc You do realize that this song is about how there should NOT be handguns, right? Does that make Lynyrd Skynyrd a bunch of communist "Libtards"?

  • THE man and his BAND

    what else do you need

  • This makes my southern heart proud! LOVE this song. It just didn't get any better than this and it still has no rival. The VanZant bloodline is amazing.
