I think I hope I'm never out to sea in those waves. I do not have the courage and endurance of the Lucia's sterling crew.
It is magnificently glorious watching this video . . . deadly beauty, overpowering life of the surging sea. Now landlocked as I am, these are inebriating sights and sounds.
In the 1800's when the oceans (not the internet) were all the world's highways, Walt Whitman wrote that the planet's salt waters were "Indomitable, untamed . . . . "
@sesanner i would like to be on board, however, I would like the crew to be there too. Because while I think I would have enjoyed it (at least for 5 min), I dont have the skill they have.
omg.... so im like:"i live in belgium.... no sunshine to much rain.... the ground over here is only grass..... we live without any problems.... and we have a dirty calm sea..." well ill think twice... i really didn't knew that the north sea could be this heavy? is the north sea the heaviest and wildest or not? :o
''Alone, all alone on a wide, wide sea''-so wrote a passenger on an old sailing ship 1807, you would feel fairly isolated in the middle of the ocean in 1807, with no way at all of contacting anyone, or getting help in an emergency...
Modern day merchant ships are practically sealed containers which will stay afloat like a cork, unless there's some kind of breach in the hull - esp the crude carriers..
I have more than 5 years of experience at merchant navy. Never seen anything like this. Just once seen force 9, but even force 9 cannot be compared! This is a real nightmare! Damn! It could be fatally dangerous for smaller vessels.
Why abadon ship this is abig bulk carrier unless she breaks up she be fine.A different story when you are in a small coaster in this weather head into the sea and hope the cargo wont shift.
Damn right. Can only imagine how dangerous bulkers are in this sort of weather. Mind you, I bet this was a challenge for the entire crew operating in such conditions. Hats off to the men (and few women) that keep the world moving.
Too bad there's no King Crab in the North Sea. Would have liked to see Sig, Jonathan & the other Bering Sea crabbers hauling their pods. Crabs in the tank is money in the bank. Great material for Discovery Channel. Good luck guys
AAAAWESOOOOME !!! those crew sound like Filipinos ,mighty brave sailors whoever they are ,shoooot ! look at those waves you only see those in movies, great video man,
