I know its old but, do you just basically tremolo pick a note 3 times but in 3rds? Say tremolo pick the 8th fret it'd be like, 888 888 888 etc? Would it sound good on the d string? I play in drop d so yeah, and I mean the low d string. Thanks. =]
@dechaphet Well, it's basically just my Schecter C1 Hellraiser, a 15 watt Marshall for my videos, and that's pretty much it haha. I have a bigger marshall but I haven't seen it in almost a year now haha, left it at the other guitarists house in my band, but i will invest in something better.
@ChromeMelodic thanks, i like the sound you put out, and you know im lookin at peoples stuff, some with the simple amp guitar setup, and then all these pedals, i gots a metalcore pedal and one of those ibanez jumpstart sets with the rg and 15 watt amp.....but i want a new guitar so thats why i ask, im thinkin about getting the xiphos with the 27 frets
Only thing I would add to this lesson: Since the riffs you're using to teach with aren't gonna be on any tab site, you should provide tabs for people who are more visual when learning this stuff. Other than that, nicely done! Love the Soilwork plug by the way, don't hear their name near often enough in the realm of metal.
Are you using a baritone guitar or thicker strings to make the Drop B tuning sound clear? Because I love that tuning, but I can't make it sound as clear as it should be, though with my new D'addario EXL145 string set it's quite good.
@szotyacid No it's not a baritone guitar, I use GHS Heavy Weight Boomers 011-70 and had my guitar set up at Guitar Center accordingly. I think those strings are perfect, but you're not limited to them, if you feel comfortable with the ones you're using and they aren't too floppy or go out of tune all the time, then you're good!
@ChromeCelica00 What do you mean by had your guitar set? Adjusting the truss rod or something? Because I'm afraid to put up even thicker strings. Also what do you think what's the advantage of having a baritone guitar with baritone strings compared to a standard guitar with very thick strings (e.g. yours)
@szotyacid Yes I had the truss rod and the bridge adjusted to be able to handle the heavier gauge strings. I'm not too knowledgeable about baritone guitars, but I'll quote straight from wikipedia "Baritone guitars have larger bodies than standard guitars, especially in the case of acoustic instruments, and have longer scale lengths which allow the strings to be tuned lower while remaining close to or at normal tension."
wen you say three frets higher, you do it using the notes of the scales you are playing while doing the harmony or you change the key when you play the 3 frets higher?
@egg899 It's 2 notes up in the scale that you are using, I just explained it the easiest way for people who aren't too knowledgeable about scales (such as myself) haha, so sometimes it varies with finger placement, could be 3 frets higher, maybe 4 sometimes, I just do trial and error when I come up with something that might be a bit tricky with finding the harmony
@baez550 the song at the end is my "Christmas Riff" which is on my ChromeCelica00 account which I'm replying to you on, I believe it's right in the featured videos to the right actually.
@MrPeiceofmind666 Nope, too high of a tuning for me, I enjoy low drop tunings. I used to play in standard tuning years ago when I was into less heavier punkish type things
@assphinktersaiswhat Great observation, it is very floppy, and I hate it. I usually use fender mediums, but I couldn't find any at the moment, so I had this random USA Nylon 46mm pick I had no choice to use
i suggest not to harmonize everything the same way, like always the thirds or fifths.....
also use harmony only when you want to achieve a specific sound that you can't get with just one guitar not because you just do it because it is cool and/or because others also do it
I like to harmonize everything too, but what helps me the most in harmonizing is to know scale in which I am playing. I mostly use few scales, so I know every single note in those. And the thing is to play third note in the scale. First note is the one played originally, than second which is not played and the third note which should be played for harmony. And it is always 3/4 frets higher than root note if we are talking about minor or major scales.
Also just for clarification, it's just taking every note (aside from the root notes) and moving it up 3 frets? How can you tell when it's 3 frets higher and when it's NOT 3 frets higher. Is it just audible or is there a particular method or something?
wow, this is definatly going to help, id have to say its pretty well explained, however, I'd like to see you put out some more of these. Teaching is not an instant skill, it will will improve over time, aswell as vastly improve your skill as a guitarist.
lol @ ''its not actually thirds but most time it is...'' you could just say it depends on a scale u are using, i mean on the notes there is in the scale u are using. best explained in guitar pro.
@jeez0o True, i never took a lesson, so I'll be honest to say I didn't know of a much better way to put anything, I sort of just said it in the simplest way for anyone to understand hah
@dualCranKy hahaha, I can sing, not the best, but I can! And those numbers sounded like crap when I said them hahaha but it wasn't mean to sound good anyway
@MendingSilence It's something I made up about a week ago, some bands I'm into are In Flames, Soilwork, Amon Amarth, Blinded Colony, Dark Tranquility, and many others.
