Drugs are absolutely wonderful :) I've done many drugs, and the vast majority of my experiences have been fantastic and eye-opening. Marijuana has helped me in my artistic endeavors. Mushrooms have opened my mind to the deepest levels of love and understanding.

2 week's ago i had severe back pain took prescription Drugs from DOC it would go away for 2-3 hours with POT i feel like a free man, couldn't even get out of bed before that. POT work's miracles for me. We don't need SOCIALIZE medicine this should be between my DOC and Pharmacist but sadly to say there are BIG GOV dictators who want to tell me what's best for me. Marijuana is not a gateway drug. After the Dutch partially legalized Cannabis in the '70s, its use increased while the use of heroin and cocaine dropped significantly. If the gateway theory were true, we'd expect to see an increase in cocaine and heroin use. If marijuana were legal in the United States, I guarantee that it would do more in replacing these other substances than it would in introducing people to them.

Yes, well, since you brought it up LegalizePsychedelics (sweet name by the way, but it's not happening), there is a very good reason why they say it kills brain cells. They did a study in the 60's that "proved" this. They hooked monkeys up to gas masks and gave them a massive dose of weed as a steady stream of smoke for five minutes, several times a day. After a while, there was some definite brain damage in the monkeys.

I grew up with alcoholics in parenting roles and it was terrible. Violence, anger, doing without basic foods when the fridge was full of beer. Pot and alcohol are both bad taken to excess. Moderation in all things.
This is kind of unlike Savage on this subject. Obviously it isn't good for you...But does he really think it should be illegal? What about for those that use it responsibly? Gateway drug? Or is it the person walking through the gate? I do worry about our country being dumbed down, but we mankind deserves the right to do what they like if it doesn't affect others. I think.

I understand the argument about 'pot being a gateway drug', but I think the acceptance of this form for feeling is more gateway than pot itself. By doing it illegal you only make it worse for those who tries to quit, or those who actually works and don't steal to get the drug. He is 100% wrong. Marijuana is not known to cause cancer or any other long term health problem. BUT EVEN IF IT DID, prohibition doesn't work, never has, never will. Reality is that prohibition creates an unregulated, high profit black market and has many unintended consequences. For example, Hemp can no longer be grown in the US because it looks like marijuana, so we lost a multi-billion dollar a year industry to Canada! We have the best soil and climate for hemp and we lost it to prohibition!

2 week's ago i had severe back pain took prescription Drugs from DOC it would go away for 2-3 hours with POT i feel like a free man, couldn't even get out of bed before that. Marijuana is not a gateway drug. After the Dutch partially legalized Cannabis in the '70s, its use increased while the use of heroin and cocaine dropped significantly. If the gateway theory were true, we'd expect to see an increase in cocaine and heroin use. If marijuana were legal in the United States, I guarantee that it would do more in replacing these other substances than it would in introducing people to them.

Alcohol is the worst "gateway" drug. So many drunk idiots are down to consume harmful drugs when they have drank quite a bit.
He talks about the "drug culture" and acts like it is a pothead culture. Alcohol is a widely used drug and is very powerful. Most illicit drugs will not get you so high that you are stumbling, slurring words, and even risk blacking out like Alcohol does. Also prescription drug abuse is higher than ever.

If Alcohol is so much safer than marijuana, why are there thousands of deaths from Alcohol every year yet none from marijuana? Same goes with cigarettes, if marijuana has 4x the tar and carcinogens as cigarettes, why are there no deaths from cannabis. By your argument, there should be thousands and thousands of marijuana smokers out there dying from lung cancer and emphysema, this is of course not happening.

Yes, well, since you brought it up LegalizePsychedelics (sweet name by the way, but it's not happening), there is a very good reason why they say it kills brain cells. They did a study in the 60's that "proved" this. They hooked monkeys up to gas masks and gave them a massive dose of weed as a steady stream of smoke for five minutes, several times a day. After a while, there was some definite brain damage in the monkeys.

"Pot kills braincells!" seems to be the only thing the government can say with confidence anymore about marijuana, but as somebody who basically woke up, got high, and when it wore off, got high again, for months in a row, I have experienced no loss in my thought process, in fact if anything I am more open minded. Marijuana is good for the brain. The truth is out there, just look :-)

Yes, it isn't healthy, but it's far less damaging than the effects of alcohol. To say that alcohol is only dangerous in the hands of those that can't handle themselves goes the same for any drug. As for the gateway drug theory, marijuana is only a gateway drug because of it's legal status.

A good indicator of the legitimacy of a source (good to use if it is perhaps very technical/hard to understand) is whether or not it was published in a peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Free radicals and alpha lenolinic acid enter your body when you smoke pot. Free radicals age your body because it creates arachidonic acid. And lenolinic acid inhibits proper hormone production. I grew up with alcoholics in parenting roles and it was terrible. Violence, anger, doing without basic foods when the fridge was full of beer. Pot and alcohol are both bad taken to excess. Moderation in all things.
