I am from liverpool in england and you know what i have been listening to this amazing band for bout four years and with all the SHIT out there today i always come home and listen to these guys and they keep me sane and i do know there is a band for me and i am so so so happy i can listen to them after a long long day grafting in work thank you gaslight anthem you really are important to people like me!!
The Gaslight Anthem is one of the very few bands left that has talent and is not a disgrace to music. I'm surprised at the fact that they are not as famous as other artists that are terrible. The music industry is going to hell =/
This is an amazing song. The lyrics are pretty unstoppable towards the end. Makes me think of True Grit, it's a total cowboy anthem if you ask me. So damn soulful, it just makes me want to sing along!
Just heard about this band this week randomly came up on youtube im in love! ... deft one of the best bands ive heard in a long time stoked on hearing them!
@jMb8907 I love the gaslight anthem and I don't need my ears checked cos Brian Fallon does sound like Brandon Flowers he said so himself on an interview at Glastonbury so stop hating for fucks sake.
This song is about a million times better than, "We Did It When We Were Young" and that song is good. This song would have been the perfect track to close American Slang with too bad they put it as a bonus track and not on the actual c.d. The Gaslight Anthem, the best in the business... no equals.
@anothergoodnight I totally agree. I know Brian Fallon admires The Killers deeply and mentions them as inspiration in several interviews. Its crazy that you say this because Brandon Flowers/The Killers and The Gaslight Anthem are my top two favorite. Ever.
Wow I am simply speechless. I love how they include Romeo and Juliet references. So romantic yet heartbreaking. If your heart had words would those words say you love me or we need to split? But I don't know, because I can't navigate your mind. My translation of this. So beautiful.
Listen to American Slang as much as possible, and see them live. Your opinion will change if your not a big fan of it. It's just as good as the 59' sound, I promise.
I think these guys are helping front a revolution in the music scene, from the crap its been in. I mean they wont change the world no, but they Definitely have wrote 3 consistently good Cds and one amazing E.P. If more bands can do that, then maybe music has hope. Regardless of if you like the new cd or no, Please keep support this band, they deserve it. Music deserves it.
I don't know why everybody's saying that American Slang is not as good as the 59 Sound. Imo American Slang is at least of the same quality if not better
I can never understand how people can stop liking bands because they've become "too mainstream". Fair enough you may prefer their older punk tunes, and I can agree that sometimes success can destroy a band, but these boys have grown stronger and stronger with their success, and if you've ever been to one of their gigs you'd know how sincere and grateful they are for everything they've got.
59 sounds a great album. american slangs not as good but still the soundtrack for my summer. Up the GA!
@koooldude7 You are dumb, sink or swim was great but it was still very typical within the genre. American Slang is an album that will save the integrity of the American musician.
i love how brian isnt the strongest vocalist out there, yet he can draw you in emotionally and make you sit, listen, love and appreciate the songs just as much as a jeff buckley, ray lamontagne etc.
I love getting physical albums so I don't regret buying it in a store but at the same time... why did this not make the final cut? I like this song more than half the album I think.
been a fan for a long time. gotta say this song makes you think. they have taken a slight step away from the familiarity of the previous albums...although i can find a place for all those tracks...but this new album re directs my thought process on a great band. love the new direction...
