  • Baker looks kind of human here, and Lewin apparently still owned his own mind. Strange how time works. Cool studio!

  • great vid love the restart the heart after putting him asleep gotta love the old school and the ring is funny bro what 8ftx8ft and saggy ropes with foam turnbuckels henging if ox went full force into those ropes bad deal they wouldn't have stopped shit and the guy bitching about you own this footage where is it for sale at you have not provided a link so he isnt taking food off your families plate you just want to keep it for yourself so get fucked

  • ITS A SHAME WHEN A PERSON PUTS UP A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE FOR THE FANS JUST TO LOOK AT AND RIGHT AWAY ITS TAKEING MONEY OUT OF SOMEONE'S POCKET. THEN THEY KEEP THE CLASSICS IN A VAULT AND THEY ARE NEVER SEEN AGAIN. IF THEY WOULD SELL DVD'S IM SURE PLENTY OF FANS WOULD BUY THEM. BUT IF THEY COMPLAIN SO MUCH, I SAY, TAKE IT AND GO HOME AND STOP WHINING

  • We are Jadat sports and we purchased the rights to this footage some 16 months ago. We have BIG TIME, ICW, IWA, WWA, CLASSIC b&w and several others. You need to pull our material off this site. I will be talking to you tube tonight and tomorrow as there is some 50 people taking money from my family. I wouldn't do this to anyone else and I believe with the hits you have had that you have profitted from our material quite a bit. Jadat Sports

  • Ah, Big Time Wrestling. Loved the promotion in the Detroit area. Priceless memories of the beginnings of a kid's love for pro wrestling. Thanks for the great post!

  • hey guys should a make a mark lewin montage

  • I remember Ox Baker in the early mid 60's as '"the Ox" , a man-child who wore a long overcoat, street shoes, sat on the mat to remove them, black rimmed glasses, and talked about his mommy, and the "bob-bob boys" refering to Bob Brown (bulldog) and Bob Giegel, the top tag team in the central states area, and was very much loved. no lie!

  • Mark Lewin went on to be the "Purple Haze"....to wrestle with and escort Kevin Sullivan and Lok and Luna....to the ring...........

also later, all were escorted by Nasty Ronnie from "Nasty Savage" the Frontman from the Legendary Heavy Metal band from Brandon Florida............google it...fuckers

  • There was a match of Killer Karl Kox vs an unknown jobber on YouTube, but unfortunately its no longer here... :( it was called something like Wrestling From The Way-Back Machine and a number after it... could somebody upload it or help me to find it?

  • The guy in blue is NICE

  • @bibearfan the maniac mark lewin.top contender for the title in the early 70's and the shiek's main rival.and also the us champ, when it meant something.

  • 0 technique FAKE hits FAKE FAKE FAKE.This is not fighting this is dancing.

  • That step-over release/step-over escape (what the hell is that?!) at 1:44 was a diabetic's worst nightmare... TOO DAMN SWEET!!!

  • Lewin looked a lot better in the 80's.

  • I think somebody liked the color blue.

  • @Bischoffamamia i think the wrestlers stood out more?remember this is the early 60's.enjoy!

  • Nice bearhug on Lewin 2:49

  • Holy crap!!!! Thanks for this upload man.

  • you know its old school when both men have chest hair, now there's somethin you dont see in modern wrestling, lol.

  • @youdude1121 Unless it's CM Punk. :)

  • @laggerg yeah! CM Punk vs AJ Styles (who also stopped shaving his chest)

  • @youdude1121 AJ Styles wears chest hair now? Its like a new trend now, lol. But isnt AJ in TNA ?

  • Wow--clean shaven Ox Baker looks almost genteel!

  • seen the maniac many times in houston hes my favorite flair knows him well

  • My mom is a nurse and she had him as a patient.... she pissed herself the first time she saw him.

  • wow, they look very different to their later years.Didn't know that.

  • Baker looks strange without the mustache

  • Big Time Wrestling, huh? It's either Detroit, San Francisco or Boston circa late 1960s.

  • Detroit circa 1970-1971. Bob Finnegan is the announcer, subbing for Lord Layton. I think this is from the Channel 2 studio in Detroit. An earlier match had Arnold Skaaland (on a scouting trip for Vince McMahon Sr.) teaming with a young Jim (James J. Dillon).

  • This match must've taken place in the 1970's, maybe earlier. Mark Lewin (the Purple Haze) was starting to go bald around the crown of his head in 1982. Also, this is a pretty good, competitive match for those days in a small auditorium - reminds me of the competition they had on Championship Wrestling from Florida with Gordon Solie - very competitive.

  • Luv the classic stuff. Keep 'em comin.

  • I, too, prefer vintage or "old school" wrestling! In my opinion, sure beats the "sugar-coated, pre-teenybopper, and teenybopper, sh*t, called the WWE!

  • Great footage!!!

  • baker is the man

i had lunch with him one time and the stories he told were hilarious

    great guy

    five stars for this video

  • Did he talk about cooking?

  • hes still tough lookin but not as tough as now.. ox is definetly one of the scarier characters ever but actually a real cool dude and nice in person..and very funny

  • Wow, I did not even recognize Ox Baker here.

  • ye, he's ox but without that mustache he doesn't looks like satan anymore....

  • this is wrerstling not striking drama with occasional wrestling.. today werstling is like boxing with some pretend graple

  • this is better then wwe and tna much more funn

  • Ox said during his shoot interview he only lost ONCE in his career on TV and that was to Mr. Wrestling II..well, here's proof that he's wrong because he lost here too!

  • Ox is a great old dude.

  • now thats class, Mark revived after he choked him out..lol

  • I was with Ox at the Killer Kowalski benefit . He sang a duet of the Star Spangled Banner, there wasn't a dry eye in the house....

  • This gotta be the oldest wrestling footage on Youtube.

  • That's not Ox is it? Where's the mustache? The heart punch?

  • This was before he grew the mustache and shaved his head and all, at first I didn't recognize him..then I heard that voice! It was Ox alright, hehe

  • Yes, Lawd, that's him. Screwed me up, too, until I heard his voice. Then once I got a goooood look at him, that couldn't have been anyone else!

  • That voice is a dead giveaway! Plus, he's UGLY!! Isn't he like 80+ now? And Lewin later went on to become the 'Purple Haze', he put on solid muscle when he wrestled in Georgia and Florida, he was ripped!

  • who recorded this? thanks for posting it very few people had VCR's back in the days.

  • Mark Lewin with his head shaved was a lunatic

who could only say- yoots yoots yoots. Bruiser Brody was a face in Texas, and he always said- hus hus hus. That was a good wccw match, yoots vs. hus. That's how they killed San Antonio, Brody got Lewin in a headlock and they both barked, yoots vs. hus, for 40 minutes. They actually yooted and hussed a territory to death.

  • How wrestling has changed so much over time.

Couldnt imagine what it was like in the early 1900's.

  • Ox was a schmucky looking guy back then. When he frst started he was "The Friendly Ox" who would take a beating and scream "IM NOT MAD AT YOU" and proceed to kick the guy's ass (1966). Then he became ox baker and killed guys with The Heart Punch much later on

  • i believe i saw ox baker as a contestant on the price is right game show, can anyone confirm

  • I remember Ox on Price Is Right. When Ox said he was from Missouri, Bob Barker asked Ox if he ever wrestled at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield. Bob said he used to sell popcorn there as a teenager.

  • haha cracks me up. yayayayaya everytime the ref counts to break the hold

  • Agree with Lewin as very underrated. He deserved a NWA World title run. That's Baker?!? Man, never thought I could say he was even UGLIER early in his career! By all accounts, Baker is a very cool guy though.

  • This was from Big Time Wrestling in Detroit. Bob Finnegan filling in for Lord Layton on commentary from the Channel 2 Studios in Detroit.

  • Back in the day, we went to a match in Cobo, and watched Tex McKenzie wrestle the Sheik, and we ran down to the ring and got Bob Finnigans autograph. I still got it on a "Body Press" magazine.

  • We were at the Bell Auditorium in Augusta, GA watching Ox rasslin. He bit the other guy on the forehead. My mama yelled from the front row, "Ox ur a cheatin SOB" and OX came out of the ring after my mama and my uncle took a swing at him! Back when rasslin was real! I miss the trailer park sometimes! Those were the days!

  • It's never been real! It's entertainment with

    controlled violence.

  • Great vid, Mark was the man, wud luv 2 c mor of his matches, nice work.

  • What year was this?

  • 1968.

  • Maniac Mark Lewin vs the king of the heart punch Ox Baker! Great vintage clip!!

  • Mark Lewin looks like he should have been world champion to me.

  • OX is a Character! I met him a few years ago..FUNNNNY AS HELL!!

  • Mark Lewin was a tough SOB. He fought guys like The Sheik, John Tolos, Freddie Blassie and of course, Ox Baker.

  • augh yeah... a real hot heel vs heel shooter match

baker and lewin both hot hairy heels and baker so hot

with the male pattern baldness look.

  • Ox Baker with hair & without the fu manchu is quite a sight to behold. Great stuff! Lewin is among the more underrated wrestlers ever, IMO.

  • Wow these guys were huge! Masta Blasta runs Bartatown!

  • Holy Cow! Ox actually had Hair on his head?! I don't believe it!!!! Now I know why he shaved his skull!

  • without the bald head and the fu manchu mustache,

    Ox looks like a schmuck

  • Ox looks funny with hair

  • yes its him before he found his persona.

  • Is that Ox Baker? he looks different form what I remember.
