  • DANG it gets pretty hot, my original 360 red ringed, FUKIN pissed off anyway to fix it without the towel trick and thermal paste?

  • it's the same with any auto fan system. my xps laptop does the same, the graphics idle at 75c which is ridiculous, then if i start up a game they cool down to 56c or so. the xbox programmers dont believe the fans need to be running at full if it's idle, for noise concerns..

  • maybe because the fans kick on overdrive?, maybe the a/c turned on in your house. or the heat off?

  • NAME OF THE GAME PLAYING IN 2:50???

  • @chivan89 saints row... yea im a month late

  • Intresting, as I have had three xboxs now. i apprieciate your insite.

  • That is exactly was thinking....maybe as soon as you activate "play Game" the CPU starts sending 8 or 9 volts to the fans instead of say 5 volts at dashboard. One reason for this might be that so when you turn it on...it is very quiet...But most people play with the speakers on which overpowers the additional volts sent to fan while playing....If you know what i mean

  • did u get yours 2006/2007 because they fixed the problem in newer models

  • this is old the fans run faster and theirs a added part to the heat sink i did the same thing and only got 103f

  • It does not matter if it is going down just by a little, ITS STILL HOT... THE ONLY REASON WHY THAT HAPPENS IS BECAUSE THE FANS RESPOND MORE WHEN PLAYING...

  • The real way to get a temp reading is to put a thermal sensor right on the GPU/CPU.

  • i dount its gonna get that hot when its resting unless your doing something i dont think so

  • The game gets cooler when played??

  • The fans start to work faster due to the gameing.

  • I noticed that especially when I play, Does downloading the game to the HDD prevent overheating even more since the dvd rom drive isn't being used? I find it more efficient that way.

  • Yes i does. I have gta 4 on my hdd and it runs about 5-10 degrees cooler when i play it from the hdd.

  • Comment removed

  • weird. it warms up when on idle but cools when a game is playing?

  • damn mine runs at 103 with game running

  • I know mine too at exactly like yours 103

  • saints row is not a demanding game i bet that gears of war 2 would have increased the temperature because its one of the best looking games out there for the 360

  • What is the conclusion? Xbox 360's dont increase in temp under load? Maybe because the fans are boosted (did they get louder?)

  • So it run hotter in idle than playing a game? That doesn't seem to make logical sense but...?

  • Well, yeah, pretty much. As "annzmanz" said, the fans must be running faster.

  • @fullsp3ctrumsniper yea they are, there's a built in temp sensor that adds more v to the exhaust fans because they normally run at 5v even tho rated at 12v.

  • whats the difrence in celsius an fahreinheid?

  • freezing for F is 32 degrees... C is 0

  • My xbox gets like 10x hotter than that one. I guess its fucked up. You should do a video of the temperature of the console if your downloading something and you use the feature where it stays on and downloads. They need to put bigger fans and heatsinks in those things.

  • What is this in celsius ?

  • cant you read? its in fahreinheid( or whatever its called)

  • In my part of the world, we use celsius not fahreinheid mister !!!!!!!

  • same here

    mister

  • so i dont get it...the temp is hotter at idle?

  • The temperature decreased when I started playing.

  • I knew that, what is this in celsius, redneck with a six-pank !!

  • abou like 60 C

  • is that miuntes or hours?

  • Posted before: "from left to right

    Hours : Minutes : Seconds : Milliseconds"

  • Now I measured the temp of my Xbox 360:

I played Gears of War and Assassins Creed for about 3 hours, the temp of the air blowing out from the back(the same way measured as you did) was 32° Celsius by a room temp of 25° Celsius

  • So your Xbox is definitly too hot, right?

do you know the temp of the new falcon xboxes??

  • Well, it's still working, so I can only assume it's "safe" and not too hot.

  • my xbox was running hot about 138 F

  • i have a flacon...i played gta4 the most engery taking game cuz it has to load all of the graphix and stuff..and i played for 9 1/2 hours the first day i got it i got the temp..it was 109..not bad at all for 9 1/2 hours

  • Celsius?! this is quite high, are you sure youve got a falcon? if yes, you have to make sure that the Xbox has enough space to suck in the air and blow out. check if there is no dust in there.

BTW: WTF?? 9 hours!? how can you sit so long in front of a TV??

  • not celsius.... it was 109*F

  • the in-game audio all sped up like that sounds like Merzbow albums.

  • do u have ur xbox on carpit

  • No, its on a cement fireplace.

  • i luv gameplay superspeeded

  • brill video mate this is all true no joke

  • Thanks

  • Its only 50C! CELSIUS!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the video cards go up to 90c. So...

Its not that hot jesus christ... ;)

  • its 50*C EXHAUST temp. I don't know how hot the inside is, but i can say that when my Laptop's C2D is at 90*C, if I measure the exhaust temp, its not anywhere near that. And the Nvidia Go Gfx Card in this laptop is good to 120*C :D

  • would it be possible to put the heat sensor direcly on a heatsink?

  • Not without opening the 360\voiding my now, non existant warrenty. :)

  • u should have played a game like gears or halo or a game which puts the 360s power to the test.

U probably would have got different results.

  • I Made this before Halo 3 was released, and Halo 1 & 2 would have been useless, hardly pushing the 360. Maybe Gears though...

  • it get coole rwhen u play games

  • 123f= 50.5c

  • mine gets hott fast after i repaired mine

  • way cooler than my laptop i can tell you that. my laptop can get up to 200 degrees.

  • lol the temp went down

  • ya can boil water on that bad boy

  • holy shizkebab, over a 100 fahrenheit !!

  • well they cant overheat if you left it on 50 hours thats a hell of a lot of time

  • its 50 Minutes

  • ohhh sorry lol

  • so im kinda confused, does this prove that 360's dont overheat anymore???

  • Not really, I just wanted to see what the temps were regardless of weather they were safe or not, and this is what I got.

  • see when u left it idle there is a heatsink under the dvd drive. when u play a game the fan nder the dvd drive turns on thats when to 360 drops a few degrees. NOW..there are video of the NEw Falcon Xbox 360's Overheating.

  • Hey can you do a heat test with the xbox 360 laying down not standing up?i wanna see if its any cooler laying down.

  • Thats not a bad idea, it might take me a while though. I'll see...

  • Is that hours or minutes? And how many Celsius is one F?

  • from left to right

    Hours : Minutes : Seconds : Milliseconds

    for temperature conversion:

    remove spaces and go to w w w . wbuf.noaa . gov\tempfc. htm

  • Was this before or after your orignal 360 broke down..(i.e before or after the added heatsink)

  • @ Ravenstryk, This was when I first got my 360 back, meaning, my new one, and it dosen't have the new heatsink.

  • You should measure the temperature of the interior of the xbox .

  • I had just gotten it back from Warrenty, I wasn't prepared to rip it open, though that would be the only way for accurate readings, i was just measuring the exhaust temperatures.

  • Those temps aren't bad at all!

  • Look at that skyrocket. Just 7 minutes and 116 damn!

  • Its because its got veriable fan speeds..it uses thermasistors to monitor gpu and cpu temps then speeds up fan dependin the temps..

  • Well, my Vaio laptop is sitting here at 79* C with 100% load(idles at 57* C), so the 360 isn't super hot or anything, but it is still relatively warm

  • 122 degrees Fahrenheit is only 50 degrees celsius. That's pretty much normal temps for most computer parts under load.

  • wow i thougt the 360 is much warmer

  • But computers aren't generally crammed in such a small box.

  • haha it cooled down while playing

  • lol it colled down while playing

  • you could boil water with that thing...

  • You can't boil water at 122 degrees Fahrenheit.... o_0

FYI - Boiling point of water is 212 degrees Fahrenheit or 100 degrees celsius.

  • nicccccceeeee!
