What a wonderful, calm demeanor. She is the picture of efficient and physically effortless singing. A highly intelligent and still passionate performance! Thank you for this post. Her Mozart - Mass in C Minor is beyond compare.
Thank-you for posting this video Intermezzo. I only had a opportunity to see her perform twice, so I deeply appreciate it. She was very passionate about her work which this video shows so clearly. Baldwins Playing is so exquisite and complemented my Aunts singing so well. Again Thank-you
@augerles ,I'm glad you saw your aunt perform,so did I,not long before her passing away.She lived in my country(Holland)and we were informed by a ladyfriend abt her concerts.I saw Arleen in Rotterdam 31st Jan 1991,so exactly 20 yrs ago and was so fortunate to speak to her alone,after the concert.She signed my records and I recal her as one of the loveliest singers I have seen.We were shocked by her illness and death.20 yrs later she is still around and Youtubetoo shows how great she was.
After more than 25 years of an international career, and with a repertory ranging from Monteverdi to contemporary composers, Arleen Auger's musical and technical intelligence remained exceptionnal. See how fully released her body is in this series of lieder (as well as in Mozart's "Et Incarnatus Est" posted on youtube under Leonard Bernstein's baton). What a wonderfull singing lesson she provides us with! Many thanks for sharing these wonders, Intermezzo89.
Dear @nelsonpianista, I met Mr. Gage personally in Vienna after a concert, I think, in 1990. He looked very different...and I saw him a couple of times more, teaching in the Hochschule in Zürich, where I studied too...But maybe it is he in this DVD...!
@nelsonpianista Can you kindly tell me where to get this DVD you have? I heard Auger live at Wigmore Hall when i was 19 and it remains one of the most magical musical experiences I've ever had twenty years on!
cant stop watching!!!!!!!!!!! my beloved Arleen Auger, you made our lives richer and fuller with your kindness and Love for music! :o)

Y mañana el sol volverá a brillar;

The loveliest of them all....Her soul shines in her face as well as in her incomparably beautiful voice. So sad that she was taken so early....

Beautiful interpretation and one of the best accompanists I have ever heard. He sets the mood from the beginning to the end.
